  3. Hi, I am still in the same place! I can't retrieve my mother in laws DS-160, It says the info does not match the application ID. What should I do? her surname is only 2 letters and it asks for the first 5! I can not find a paper copy of the DS-160, every link directs me to the electronic filing, I want to get all the info first, then go to the site and file electronically. will I have a problem if I start a new application for my mother in law??? Thanks, Mike
  4. I started to fill in the DS-160, and when I went to retrieve, it said the surname and date did not match!!!! surname is only 2 letters!! what to do next? can I print a paper copy of the blank form so I can get all the info before I complete the electronic form? will relatives in China be able to open and sign? Is it better to have them fill it out in Chinese?
  5. Just to add to the background, mom has a home, money in the bank, 3 daughters, numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to return home for, sister has a husband, three sisters, 2 homes, a very good job and many nieces and nephews. They never expressed any wish to live here in the US. I am not sure how I got my wife to move here but I'm glad she did!
  6. Hello, I have not been here for a while, I couldn't even get on without re-registering with a different email. I am trying to help my wife get together the appropriate paperwork for her mother and sister to visit. Where do I start? Do write the invite letter for the VO or to my inlays? do I need an I-134? Please point me in the right direction, thanks Mike & Yizhen Chicago. Married 9 years last october
  7. Ok, we re-submitted the N-400, got the fingerprints and received an interview date, Sept. 10th. Yizhen is not confident of her english skills and that she will pass the test, and wants to re-schedule. We are not worried about how long it will take, but someone told her that she could could go to the interview, and if she does not pass, she would be able to take it again. Is this possible? Does she have to pay again? What do you think we should do? Thanks, Mike
  8. the rejection notice gives us a case number, don't we need to continue this and follow their instructions? won't the rejection show up in her file? What I really want to know, is it ok to make other changes when I resubmit? thanks, Mike & Yizhen
  9. Yes they sent the fees back, they also sent a green letter and the I 797C rejection notice. The green letter says to place the letter on top of the package when you resubmit your corrected package to receive special attention when it is reprocessed. The only correction we need to make is reprinting the first page with the correct box checked. I would like to replace the tax forms with the transcripts to have a better form of evidence. thanks, Mike & Yizhen
  10. I am sorry, I should have explained a little better, the N-400 was rejected, and the complete N-400 application was returned, because we checked the wrong box. I must send the green cover letter, and a copy of the rejection notice when we re-apply. Do I remove the original first page with the wrong box checked? or do I just add the corrected page with the letter of explanation? I am thinking that the letter is necesary either way? Everything else seems to be included/correct. All the original info supports the fact that we lived together for more than 3 years since she received her 10 year green card(6/8/09). The rejection states that we should refile when she gets to 90 days before 5 years which is the box she checked. I am thinking that since we are refiling after the rejection, that we should Have a letter of explanation and the new page with the correct box checked. Do I remove the page with the wrong box checked? thanks, Mike & Yizhen also, since I now have the transcripts, would it be OK to make the substitution?
  11. Hello everyone, I have been silent for a long time, but I have stopped in from time to time to check up on everyone. My wife Yizhen has decided to file for citizenship, she went to CASL in chinatown Chicago. They helped her to fill out the N-400. My wife thought it would be easier, but she was wrong. They made a big mistake on the very first page, they checked the wrong box for eligibility. They checked box 1, instead of box 2, and we got a rejection notice. Also, they sent copies of our last 3 years of tax forms with w-2's. I have 2 questions, 1. do I just replace the first page, with the correct box checked, or do I send the corrected page on top with a letter of explanation? 2. I have a copy of the tax transcripts, should I use those instead of the copies of my e-filings? and if so do I need to note that somewhere? Thanks for your help, Mike & Yizhen
  12. Thanks Dan, I was hoping to be able to give them better news. They probably should have waited longer to file. Mike and Yizhen
  13. Hello Dan, we did, we got the 10 year card in July 2009, we are trying to help a friend of my wife. Do they get an info pass appointment and try to change the date? Do they try to change the date at the NVC? They live here in Chicago, and would like to avoid the expense and inconvenience of having to remove conditions. I told them I thought the only way was to change the appointment date. I would like to know if this is reasonable? Thanks, Mike and Yizhen Is this a good reason for the appointment change?
  14. Hello friends, I have not been here for a while, but I am here looking for some help for a friend of my wife. She is here K-3, and they have received an AOS appointment date(Feb), less than 30 days before their 2 year anniversary(March), is it possible to reschedule so they can get the 10 year green card? How would they go about this? Thanks, Mike & Yizhen
  15. When we left Liuzhou in June "09" they were going to charge us for the weight difference, but when they realized we were flying International, they didn't charge us for the overage. We packed for the 44 pound limit, when we left GUZ to go to Liuzhou, so we didn't have to worry. We didn't buy our tickets from GUZ to Liuzhou until we got the "VISA", so they were domestic tickets. I am thinking that if you tell them you are flying international, they will let you pass with the 50lbs. Mike & Yizhen
  16. George, I am not sure all the details of the stimulus payments, it was long ago (spring 2008 I think) it was for those with qualifying earned income, singles got $600, married filing jointly got $1200, + $300 for qualifying dependents and you needed SSN's. We filed Married jointly, but Yizhen had a ITIN, not a SSN. When you filed 2008 (we filed in Jan. 09), you could get the check if you had the SSN, but we didn't get the SSN until the end of June 2009. I didn't post this because I got the check, I just wanted to remind those who might qualify, not to forget that they could file the amended return and get the money. Mike & Yizhen
  17. I am not sure where this should be posted, I tried to find an appropriate thread, but I didn't see anything that seemed right. I just wanted to post this as general information, in case someone still hasn't received their "STIMULUS CHECK". We filed an amended return at the end of "JUNE 09" for our "08" taxes, the day Yizhen received her SSN. We received our STIMULUS CHECK, and a receipt for the amended return on OCT. 15th. If anyone has not received their "CHECK", please file and get your money! so you can help stimulate our economy! Mike and Yizhen

There is a bus from the airport, #6b (I THINK) that stops at the NW corner of the CITIC Plaza. I also prefer the subway station entrance at the SW corner of the CITIC Plaza. It is the Orange/Red Line, and you change trains at the first stop for the Yellow Line. Less crowded and no smog from the buses. The metro is the way to fly, shopping, restaurants, anywhere you want to go. Also, You can save money by negotiating a set price for your taxi ride, they want your business. We love GUZ, and Mr. Yangs, have fun, Mike & Yizhen
  19. Scott, the 2 year visa is the same cost as the 1 year. Please write "2 Years" in the box where the duration is located, and put 90 days as the length of stay requested. You will need to provide a copy of the marriage license and a copy of your wife's passport bio-page. You do not ned to provide an invitation letter, just state that you will be visiting family. If you are using a service to get the visa, they should be able to help you. I have always gotten my own visa's at the consulate here in Chicago. Good Luck, Mike & Yizhen.
  20. When we arrived in GUZ, we got a sim card for Guangdong Province. We were staying in GUZ just over 2 weeks coming and going. We could call and receive calls in GUZ and from Liuzhou, and we programed our number into our one suite account for family in the US. Then we bought a sim card in Liuzhou for local calling and we had to program that number for one suite also. I think it is cheaper to buy a sim card for local calling, there must not be a charge for receiving local or long distance calls. We bought our sim card at the airport, at the counter just inside of the bus stops. Good Luck, Mike & Yizhen
  21. It is just a question! Scott, here is another thread, http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?...=35864&st=0 There have been many threads about the visas since the olympics, and there is no place on the visa application form for 2 years, but if you ask for 2 year, multi-entry, 90 day, and show your "RED BOOK" or "marriage license", you will usually be accomodated. Good Luck, Mike & Yizhen
  22. Scott, for the same $130 visa fee you will be able to get a 2 year multi-entry visa! You can ask for 6 month stays, but you don't always get them. I got 2 year, multi, with 90 day stays in April "09". Good luck, Mike & Yizhen They asked for the Marriage certificate, I showed them the "RED BOOK" and they made a copy, supposedly for future reference.
  23. When you arrive in Chicago on a domestic flight, you will arrive at terminal 1, 2, or 3. You will then proceed to the international terminal #5, for your flight abroad. The international terminal is completely seperate from the other terminals. Good Luck, Mike & Yizhen
  24. I am sorry to say that you will not be allowed past the security checks, without a ticket and boarding pass for an International flight. It is the same as the airports in China when we return home to the US. You will, be able to go to the International terminal and say good-bye after she has checked in and received her boarding pass. Good Luck, Mike & Yizhen
