  1. They may be asking for a written request from you, to protect your privacy, so be sure to include that, with a copy of the I-864 instructions. Mike & Yizhen
  2. THANK YOU! We have decided to wait and carry our parcels to the US on our next return trip. We do not want to risk damage or loss. Our overall dimension was about, 60cmX60cmX30cm. (24inX24INX12in). USPS overall dimension limit is 150inches for basic rates, they will accept some parcels like golf clubs that are slightly larger. They wanted us to buy the boxes there, and we know that it is ok to use your own boxes. We knew about the inspection of the contents, and were prepared to complete the packaging while we were there. I was also prepared to take a photo of the contents and the employee inspecting them, for insurance. I have been trying to find a better way to send parcels, and I have yet to find any acceptable (reasonable $ and safe), methods. I would like to import products, but it seems you must get a container, fill it, and wait for it to arrive in Chicago. 3 to 4 months. US customers would never wait, so you would need to purchase merchandise for stock and ship within the US. SORRY about the thinking out loud. I purchased our first handheld translator from a company in Taiwan, and they were 1/2 the price of any other supplier, China or US, and it was delivered next day for $10 extra. Thanks again for your help, when I find a good method of shipping, I will post about it. Mike & Yizhen
  3. I have been looking for the thread, and I am having trouble locating it, and the overall box dimension for international parcel shipments from China. If anyone knows what the total overall dimensions is, it would take a lot of pressure off of me! Yizhen went to the post office today, and they refused to accept our boxes! I thought that they used an overall dimension, and that we could use our own box. Thanks for any help, Mike & Yizhen
  4. Yes, all the Original, Notarized, and Translated Documents (White Books) are now collected by the NVC. Good Luck, Mike & Yizhen
  5. The Italian family that owns Fiat has plenty of money, and they know how to make more. They also owned New Holland Equipment, and a few years ago bought and merged with Case, now they own a very large % of the combined stock (50 to 70 %) of CNH. They probably backed out of the deal with GM just as they backed out of the deal in China several years ago, because they saw problems ahead. I think it would be good for any auto maker to have Fiat interested, that would mean their financial future looks good. Mike & Yizhen
  6. CONGRATULATIONS ! ! ! ! ! I am sorry this is late, my computer is down, and I don't have much luck with Chinese PC's, Mike & Yizhen
  7. Jimi, maybe you could try showing the VO 2 versions of the Timeline/Evolution letter. Do one as an outline, showing the dates, and the other written as a letter telling the story, maybe he will tell you that the timeline is easier to see the important dates, and he might even notate this in your file. When we went for the K-3 in 2007, the VO actually took the letter and made a copy before I had it notarized. The next day the VO didn't even ask for it at the interview. I think you should try to keep it simple so that there is not much thinking on the VO's part, there is not much time on the day of the interview for the VO to rethink his decision. Good Luck, Mike & Yizhen
  8. We just spent 11 days there, and we will stay there when we return from Liuzhou, in June. This was our second interview in GUZ, and the second time we stayed with the Yangs. We have some final shopping to do before we return to the US. You can PM me if you have any questions. We also have a Chinese cell number if you want to call. Mike & Yizhen
  9. Jason, I am so sorry about the name, I went back to see how I got confused, and I see in your post, #, 8 on April 6th, there is a quote from John(Trudger24). I must have picker up on it and wrote it down. You should have told me sooner maybe in an early PM before I used the wrong name so many times in public, again I am sorry. Our thought are with you Jason, Mike & Yizhen
  10. It will work out, I was trying to help get things sorted out, but my picture wasn't helping you much. I was one of the first people here that paid the fees on line, received the forms online, and had to send original documents to the NVC. It was chaos at the candle. Together it always gets sorted out, good luck, Mike & Yizhen
  11. Good Luck John, we will be thinking of you, Mike & Yizhen
  12. I am not trying to argue with you, I am trying to help! I hope you are seeing it that way, Mike & Yizhen
  13. It is the same building, two different departments, you will be OK no matter what you do, Good Luck, Mike & Yizhen We never received a physical package either, that stopped in September 2008. They must have sent you the wrong envelope the first time, and forgot to send you an envelope with the confirmation of Choice of Agent DS-3032. You will be on your way to GUZ very soon!
  14. The CMR AOS envelope came with the first mailing, AOS FEE ($70) BILL. The CMR envelope came with the letter that confirmed receipt DS-3032. You can add the AOS and change the 1 to a 9, and send your AOS package(I-864 and the tax documents) They are both in the same building, even if you just put ATTN: AOS on the CMR envelope it will get there. Relax, it will be OK, Mike & Yizhen Could you be part of the recent pilot program, which lets you submit the documents electronically? That could also be part of the confusion! You didn't mention how you submitted the DS-3032, mail or email. We sent both email and mail, we received a confirmation letter stating who the registered agent was, and that included the CMR envelope.
  15. AOS, is Affidavit of Support, if you already sent them, then you should send the Immigrant Visa Application (DS-230) and the Original Documents to the CMR address! AOS = Affidavit of Support = I-864 and tax documents CMR = Immigrant Visa Application = DS-230 and Original Documents Good Luck, Mike & Yizhen I am a little confused, because you say you sent applicant processing docs, usually the AOS, processes first, our $70 fee bill and the envelope came with the DS-3032. It is the first notification you get from the NVC. It seems that maybe you processed in a slightly different, time line, but it will not affect the outcome in any way. I just assumed the order of the processing, without really looking at your post, and your wording is slightly different, I hope I haven't confused you. Then after the DS-3032 is processed, the Immigrant Visa Application Fee, comes next, when that is paid you get the DS-230, the list of documents to send, and you can print both the receipt and the cover letter. You want to be sure and include a copy of your receipt in each package. I made my own cover letter listing the contents in the order I included them in the package.
  16. I have read many peoples comments about sending both packages in one envelope to one address, the separate envelopes inside have the 2 different addresses. CMR is for DS-230 and the documents. CMR AOS is for the I-864 and the tax documents. I paid twice, and sent in two separate envelopes to two different addresses. My packages didn't make next day delivery, and as guaranteed, the USPS refunded my complete postage fee and my packages were delivered 2nd day, with electronic tracking and proof of receipt. I think your packages are safe either way, 1 or 2 envelopes. The thinking is that they will arrive at the NVC together, and not get lost. Good Luck, Mike & Yizhen
  17. You can actually find the number on the receipt, ECXXXXXXXXXCN it is the first number on the left side, above the GUZ number. We first found the number at the tracking site at about 7pm the day after the interview, it said that it was collected by the city of Guangzhou at 5:49 pm, about 1 hour to show up in the system. Our question is this, Does this mean the package is ready? or was it just picked up at the consulate? The system doesn't seem to follow typical USPS tracking alerts, at least the words aren't the same. What does the online tracking site say when the package is ready for pickup? Thanks, Mike & Yizhen We just called and the package is ready! I would like to understand the tracking better so people in the future can use or just call for info. I am thinking that the 5:49pm posting at EMS tracking meant that the package was ready last night. It would be nice to know If you wanted to get out of dodge quickly. Thanks, Mike & Yizhen
  18. Usually people only post when they have difficulty picking up the visa in a timely manner. Our visa was picked up the day after the interview, about 5:45pm. When can we expect to see an update that the visa is ready for pickup? Thanks, Mike & Yizhen
  19. Thanks all, I really want the coffee maker to brew my tea. I use my Mr. Coffee to brew a pot and a half or two everyday in the US. I gave up grinding and brewing STARBUCKS coffee in 1995, when I switched to green tea, the doctor took me off of the blood pressure meds I was taking for 3 years. Yizhen and I will brew a pot of starbucks from grounds I keep in the freezer, maybe once a month just for the taste, but we drink green tea daily. We spent 2 days shopping for green tea here in GUZ, and I think we found our new "favorite" green tea (TIE GUANYIN). I had been drinking a special tea (TIE GUANYIN) that Yizhen's sister and her husband gave us, on Sundays, but we ran out and we went to Chinatown to look, it was $150 per pound. Needless to say, that is out of our daily budget. Later we found a similar tea that tasted even better, at a chinese wholesale market in Chicago. We shop at this market, but had never looked at the tea before. This new tea was $4.50 for 1/2KG, 1.1lbs. The next time we went to this market the tea was gone and a new one was in it's place, $9 for 1/2KG., and it was not as good. We found a better tea of the same variety, for $56rmb per KG about $3.77 per lb. at the wholesale tea market in GUZ. This is a primo tea, we tried many at twice the price, but this tea was our favorite. There some very good teas at half the price, but this is $1.2 per lb. less than I was paying for my daily tea over the last 5 years. AND I AM WORTH IT! I was thinking about 10 kg's, and the wife said we should bring back 15kg's. Next time we come to China, we will bring our own Mr. Coffee! Problem solved. I hope you didn't mind my long winded tale of tea, thanks, Mike & Yizhen
  20. I have been looking for an automatic drip coffee maker in GUZ, I have seen several in the department stores, but they are very pricey$$$. The least expensive one I found so far, was $120 usd. I saw an expresso machine, over $5,000rmb. Is there a place where you can buy something like this, at US prices? I have not been able to find one of those "wholesale" markets where things are priced more fairly for the coffee maker. We have been able to find "places" to buy many different things, at much lower prices, except for the coffee maker. Any help would be appreciated, Mike & Yizhen
  21. We sent many emails, and they responded very quickly, less than 48 hrs usually, but the reply was to a completely different name and always a canned answer "we do not have your file, we can do nothing for you. I would suggest using the fax number, it seems that you get good answers, maybe from the VO's. Good Luck, Mike & Yizhen
  22. If the name was never used legally, then it is only a nickname, no need to list it for the paper work. You only send photo copies with the I-130, the originals will be sent to the NVC later. Don't get too far ahead of yourself, the police report has a shorter life span. Good Luck, Mike & Yizhen Were you married in 2008? Did you file your taxes married jointly? If you didn't, maybe you should file an amended return and a W-7 so she is on your taxes. The additional refund check will have both of your names, keep a copy. I am sure you will get many more ideas, use what you can!
  23. Hello John, we are so sorry to hear of your white. I hope you can find the strength to get through this. Maybe it is possible to keep your case in GUZ, and find a way to change the outcome. If your case is sent back to the States, it will drag your case out for a long time. You probably need to find a lawyer in GUZ to try to keep the case here. I am sorry that I don't know anything about this process, I would do anything to help you. Good Luck, Mike & Yizhen
  24. I am not sure about JBHypno, but Yizhen got PINK, 8 out of 9 and counting. I sat with 2 guys who also got pink, a K-3/K-4, and a K-1. We saw several blues, but I think they were students or tourists. Many pinks! I will post our recap in the Results Forum very soon. Mike & Yizhen
  25. I made it to the ACH, I arrived at 1 pm like the guard told me, we lined up on the fourth floor, there were several different groups all waiting to get upstairs. I was the third USC in line, the first two had their wife/fiancee with them. We waited as the line grew. Several people from the other groups moved ahead of us in the line, trying to get upstairs first, but they let the USC's up first. Once up to the fifth floor, we were directed to a special window, where we waited until 2pm to get pre-interviewed for the question period. We were given numbers and a sheet to write the vital info, petitioner's name, beneficiary's name, GUZ number, birth date, email, and phone number. Then room to write the questions. At about 2:30, I was the first called, you know how they defy the number system in GUZ, the VO was very nice, he reassured me that the process of IR-1 after the K-3 was not a rare occurrence and that he did not see any problems in my file. My next question was about the Original Docs we submitted to the NVC, and he said he had not been asked about the docs before. I asked if there was a special form or if we needed to supply copies so they could return the originals. He said he was not sure but that he would go and ask. When he returned, he began typing in the computer and said that the original docs were now being returned in the sealed envelope that is sent with the passport, he was not sure if we got them at the POE or if they would be mailed to us from DHS after entry. I sat with a few other fellas until the last number was called, it was one of the 2 guys that was in line before me. One of the guys actually got to speak with a supervisor, after everyone was served. There was maybe 10 VO's, and it went pretty quickly, we were out before 3:30. I guess everyone was right, 1pm, 1:30 pm, 2pm, 2:15 cutoff at the fourth floor, 2:30 to 3:30 with the VO's. I hope this helps, and I welcome any help, if this should be rewritten to make it easier to understand. Thanks, Mike & Yizhen
