  1. Get well soon. Upside is you can finish Kissinger's book now.
  2. Are the pics in this thread? http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?/topic/37887-chengdu-is-alive-and-well/page__view__findpost__p__507256 No, buddy, that was not it. The thread I want was just all pictures one after another with them traveling and then hiking on this mountain. There was the little boy in the field with his mother and they threw him some candy and when he ran back to his momma he had the cute little open flap on the back of his pants. There was Larry learning how to thresh wheat by hand. Man that guy made some good pix but the old lady with the buffalo was awesome. Robert, I think you are remembering pics Jesse (Shaquanew?) posted of some of the trips he and his wife had taken around China.
  3. yeah, I always enjoyed reading his posts.
  4. Nice pics...haven't been to Chengdu yet but many of the sights are very similar to scenes I've seen (tongue twister...say that 5 times fast) in other parts of China.
  5. That's a large improvement over his life in this world.
  6. Ya'lls leaves the wimmins at home to chat to one another and then you two hit the streets head out on the highway looking for adventure in whatever comes your way!
  7. At the Long Beach Grand Prix...of course.
  8. Congratulations!!! Glad it went smoothly and glad you had a strong bladder.
  9. Congratulations!!! So glad to hear the great news. Really really happy for you! It won't be long now.
  10. I agree that you should just let your son's IR2 petition roll on. Even though they are separate petitions and you have to provide many of the same docs you do for the IR1, your son's IR2 is derivative of your wife's IR1. I believe they will tie the two back together some time before the interview date. At least that's what they did with my wife and daughters petitions, although we went through HK and not GUZ, it was NVC that eventually tied them together before the interview. But like previously stated, best case, son's interview date pulls mom's petition through the pipeline to catch up and worst case he gets a blue to wait for mom. For all his faults, I do think uncle sam will keep the two petitions close together somehow.
  11. Good job! Congratulations to you both!!! So, when is she getting here?
  12. Yep I totally agree!! She is easy on me. I wuz always the kind that had to hang pork chops around my neck to get the dog to play with me but alls I has to do is do these simples chores and duties and my wife will plays wiff me too. Fair recompense.
  13. I can tell what some of my duties are. I am sure they vary with different husbands but: Vacuum floors. Wash clothes, put out to dry, bring them in, fold and put up. Cook my meals when she is at work (best not eat out). Cut wood. Keep cars in good repair (and clean hers). Keep house in good repair (also remodel our other house). Keep up the yard. Help her with the garden. Keep all the money and pay the bills. Give her daily massages. Don't talk on the phone for a long time. This is just a partial list but I think you get the idea. Thats it? She's going pretty easy on you. She must love you long time.
  14. Glad to hear that things are moving along in the process, although it may be slow and deliberate. Don't sweat the petitions traveling together. The same thing happened to me, daughter was approved and sent to NVC before wife but NVC will tie the two petitions together before they send them off to the consulate. Hang in there baby.
  15. We're going to check out the Chinese New Year festivities at the park here in Torrance today. Should be fun.
  16. http://i1191.photobucket.com/albums/z473/Jeff_Burchett/avatar.jpg http://i1191.photobucket.com/albums/z473/Jeff_Burchett/MISCAiaicamera013.jpg Just a quick update and a couple of pics. I've been meaning to do this for a while but haven't had a lot of down time lately. First of all, thanks to everyone for the nice comments and for welcoming Aiai to the USA. She enjoyed seeing all of the replies. Well, she's been here almost 3 months and the time is flying by, we're having a blast. No major trouble, just a couple minor misunderstandings mostly attributed to language. She is taking English class every day (Mon. - Fri.) and Sandy is settling nicely into school. Their English is improving steadily and Sandy is actually learning remarkably fast in my opinion. Both of them have found a couple of Chinese friends and I think that helps a lot with the adjustment. They are enjoying the USA, all the new experiences and especially the warm weather here in So. Cal. lately (her friends say it has been unusually cold in Hong Kong this year) but of course Hong Kong and China are still better. The pics are from the Thanksgiving weekend when we visited the relatives and then spent a couple days at Yosemite. It was Sandy's first experience with snow and she really had fun, but boy was it cold up there. If the pics are too big, please resize them. I wasn't sure how to do it and in fact was lucky I got them posted at all.

    Update

I haven't had much free time to give an update. Well, she finally arrived. POE at LAX was no problem and uneventful except for the fact that the IO that stamped her passport hand wrote the expiration date of the I-551 (?) as 10/23/2010 instead of 2012, I don't know if that will be a problem later or not. She got here a week ago yesterday (10/24). It's been a whirlwind of activity trying to get everything done and the week has passed quickly. So far she likes everything here and I think she kind of even prefers the local Ralph's (she's like a kid in a candy store when we go there) to the Ranch Market (Chinese) nearby, but I doubt she would admit that Halloween was a big hit. We got Sandy started in school last week, 7th grade and Aiai started her English classes today. We hit the local Farmers Market Saturday morning and she really liked that. Mostly it's been day to day stuff we've been doing but as we start to get our new routines established and settled I want to start taking them on some road trips around California. Looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas. More to come.
