  1. Thank you all. We called the 800 number listed on the NOA 797C and promptly talked to a real person. We are to be contacted by our local office within 30 days in regards to this. Hopefully this will be resolved quickly and painlessly. FYI, if you as the Petitioner calls the the USCIS 800 number, the Applicant (beneficiary) must be present during the phone call too. John
  2. Yes it is THE 9 digit USCIS Alien Registration number. It is frustrating that it is different only on the I-797C NOA for the AOS.... Really there is no other way than taking time off of work and driving my Lao Po to the field office??? Does not seem to be the most convenient way.... but that statement in its self seems like irony for this whole process.... Why should it be easy??? Your help and suggestions are truly appreciated. Thanks, John
  3. Thanks Dan for the prompt response. We were concerned that this could lead to troubles down the road, your explanation seems very logical. Hopefully I can convince her to "let this ride" or "simmer" for a while..... John
  4. Hi Guys, When filling out the paperwork for AOS, advanced parole, and work authorization we used the A# provided on the K1 visa NOA2 (which also was the same number hand written on the back of the I-94 in her passport). Upon receipt of the NOA1¡¯s for AOS, AP and EAD, the AP and EAD have the same A# from the K1 visa paperwork. BUT the A# on the AOS NOA1 is different, and entirely new number! Is this normal to have a new A# generated? Please advise on how we should proceed. Who should we call? Many thanks, John
  5. Hey Carl, you forgot about the "seeing eye dog" too......
  6. Congrats Lee, I am very Happy for you two. Here is to a great future.
  7. Thank you all for the suggestions, today should be the POE for my fiancee' !!! I will re-read and practice the advice given. Thank you, John
  8. Good luck Lee, we are all pulling for you two.
  9. American just had round trip, HK to O'hare and back to HK for 879 USD or something low like that with a bonus stop in Tokyo (joking). Use Kayak to search a number of sights quickly.
  10. Lee, We're hoping that all is well and that you receive the visa packet tomorrow. You two have had enough turmoil through all of this. Getting her here for the planned wedding / Holidays will help ease all of the past tensions. Good Luck, keep us posted! John
  11. All should be OK if you can prove the length of relationship and communication ability. Since you were married and divorced before, make sure you submit a CERTIFIED divorce decree with the initial filing. For the GUZ interview I would suggest having another certified decree (with raised seal / stamp), a timeline of the divorce, an info sheet with your ex's name containing the last known address, phone #, DOB, SS# etc. We also had the initial divorce petition with the filing date as additional evidence. An EOR letter containing the relationship history and divorce timeline is also helpful with the initial submission. BTW, make sure your SO knows the EOR letter, reason for divorce, divorce info and children info exactly as this will probably be the majority of the interview questions when the time comes. As Credzba said, add a couple of more trips if you can. Good luck
  12. All well made and very good points, thank you for taking the time to post. Luckily over the last 6 months or so she has made a few acquaintances with some ladies through QQ (although they are 30 min or so away by car). Agreed driving is high on the list, hopefully the WI winters won't be too bad this year and impede learning to drive.
  13. Thank you once again all. Yes, I will treat her very, very well. Luckily her English is superb and there is a Mandarin only speaking gal across the street from Fuzhou (been in the US since '93). I made a list of foods that I need to buy, yes will take it easy and allow her to set the pace. Thank you again, John
  14. Thank you again for continued suggestions. With Rain and Snow in the forecast looks like the first trip will be to "Cabelas" an outdoor store to set her up with Columbia gear. Jokingly, how do you think "Honey, function over fashion" will go??? No, snow boots do not come with high heels.... Hey, plenty of time for fashion later, that is the engineer thinking in me. In all honesty, I am looking forward to the first "snowed-in" day with her! Even though she is not religious, I am hopeful to find a predominantely "Chinese congregation" for friendship association too. Thank you again for the suggestions. John
