  1. The real time updates are very cool. Thanks for sharing the info. Sounds like you're prepared and won't need luck, instead I'll say best wishes.
  2. Great pictures. Thanks for sharing them.
  3. I want to say how f***ing awesome it is to have this discussion and how incredible it is to have actual real time witnesses like Joanne and Shutterbug to such dramatic historical events that were played out on the worlds stage engaged in this discussion is priceless. This truely makes CFL such a magnificiently unique experience that I feel blessed to be a part of it. While being a real time, on-site witness to these events affords Joanne a certain elevated status, I think Zhao Ziyang's contribution to the development of a psuedo western style free market economy and the resident trappings for better or worse that go along with such a reform given China's previously relatively closed market communist economy, are largely recognized throughout the world as genuinely positive progress for the nation and it's people. I'm not sure we can label him as a failed politician although I agree he may have inadvertently contributed to the escalation of the confrontation between protesters and government when he addressed the crowd in person with his pleas for them to return home. The result may have given the protesters more bona fides than they may have had if he had not attended. In other words, his presence may have elevated their cause to higher degree of legitimacy than they might have otherwise achieved.
  4. Thanks for the great suggestions. My "bucket list" is a lot longer now. B)
  5. My wife and I really enjoyed Guizhou province. It's full of wonderful mountains and waterfalls, and set apart from the hustle bustle of the big cities. You can find several very reasonable tours and groups that travel from city to city, and location to location to take in some of the most majestic sites in C By the way, I see this is your first post. Welcome to Candle! Thanks, for the welcome and the recommendation. It sounds great, I'll look into it. I'm also on VJ, my wife lives in Hong Kong. Hard to info about immigrating for HK and was referred to this sight from someone on VJ. Glad to be here. Thanks again. That will be me! He he...Shout out to Dan for the great referall...

  7. Hi all, I'm hoping someone here can give me suggestions for a beautiful quiet high mountain resort area where my wife and I can spend a belated honeymoon. I'm looking for some place with beautiful scenery, large enough to have a decent assortment of restaurants and some nightlife as well as daytime sightseeing opportunities. We are willing to travel to any area in China to experience this, but hoping some one has been somewhere that they can recommend highly. All suggestions are welcome. Thanks Jeff
