  1. My 2 cents. My fiancee's last name is LI. She also goes by an English name Sherry, so her email/chat name is Sherry. I submitted an awful lot of email with my I129-F forms with the name Sherry on them, but I doubt a background check was ever done on the name Sherry. I think USCIS is smart enough to know by now to disregard all English names for Chinese women. I agree with LeeFisher, however when I filled out this form I never mentioned the name Sherry. In question 7 I simply put none. It worked for us. When we apply for the marriage license, I will change her name to Sherry.
  2. This is an interesting subject Ken. I addressed this with my wife to be and was very open with spending habits she currently has in China and the difference it will be in the US. She has assured me she will adjust, but I don't want her thinking I am a scrooge. I also addressed the issue of hers/mine and our bank accounts. Again, she wants one bank account for "the family" and one for savings. This is going to be one hell of a balancing act.
  3. I seriously doubt the age of your girlfriend is going to be a consideration with USCIS, since you won't be able to marry in the US for about one year anyhow. I would however be concerned with the Chinese government and their view on marriage at such a young age.
  4. Thanks for all the help and friendship from this group. My SO's interview was very brief, but also very successful. Hopefully we will be together within a week.
  5. congratulations on your long journey. Unfortunately, it isn't over yet. Here is a good place to read about getting a SSN and other valuable information. http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=9057
  6. I spoke with my SO this morning and a young lady that was staying in her shared room was asked a question that I have not seen posted on this board. Actually, it was not a question, but a piece of evidence. She was asked to show the receipt proving her fiancee paid his air fare to China. Needless to say, she didn't have this receipt with her, so she received a blue slip. I guess we should be prepared for anything during these interviews. My SO was frantic when we talked. I suggested she study the paperwork I sent her. After some searching she found my receipt.
  7. Congratulations Peachy.. I hope we have the same results about 14-16 hours from now.
  8. Based on the assumption you are a sub chapter S corporation , just provide the tax returns for both your business and yourself as well as the schedule K-1. Be sure they are prepared by a professional accounting firm.
  9. Phil.. I can only imagine the lump in your throat and the pain in your heart after having this happen to you. I thought security checks were completed prior to P4's being sent out. Is it possible some P4's are sent out without doing the security check? Yes. I was told this by DOS. However, they did state this security check would take at most 2 weeks should this happen. I hope and pray the security check for you goes quickly and you can start your new life in the US.
  10. Congratulations Paul. Good luck on your interview.
  11. Congratulations to both of you. Now for your dream life. Best of luck to you and may your marriage be a long and happy one.
  12. This is some great information. I think my SO was planning to be in line at 7:15 as instructed, but based on your experience, I will tell her to be in line at 6am.
  13. Congratulations on this great news. We all wish you and your wife a beautiful life together.
  14. I just got off of the phone with my SO who is in GZ today. She knows of 4 women who had their interview today and all 4 got their visa's. She didn't know their names but in one case a woman was asked 4 questions and it took about 2 minutes for the interview. I am not sure if these are CFL members or not. My SO is there early and will have her interview on the 8th.
  15. Thanks pushbrk. I wasn't sure if that envelope remained sealed for US purposes or if in fact the consulate would open it. I feel much better now. One less thing to worry about.
  16. My SO is in GZ and had her medical exam. She was advised to bring her notarized marriage eligibility letter with her when she picks up the medical results. I also read where this same notarized letter is required for the interview. Does this mean she needs two copies? I understand the medical papers are sealed. Second question.. She is using the same notarized letter we submitted with the I-129F forms. It is more than one year old, but this was due to our gathering the required documents in July so I could submit them when I returned to the US. Is this going to be a problem? The hotel where she is staying checked her paperwork and stated this notarized letter was sufficient.
  17. I have had a lot of experience with this worry problem. One day an ex-wife told me something that has stuck with me. "Don't start worrying until something happens". Your SO just may surprise you. I am in your situation and have told my SO I live in the country. No transportation system and definately no bicycle. Is she prepared? I will worry about it when it happens.
  18. congratulations Gil. You are on the downhill slope now my friend. Best of luck to you and your SO.
  19. Congratulations OBXTRAINMAN. I know it must have been a terrible trip, but in the end it was well worth the agony. Best wishes to you and your new wife today, tomorrow and every day in the future.
  20. I had a similar experience when NVC sent my I-129F paperwork to GUZ. I was later informed the forms are transmitted in 2 different ways. One goes electonically and the other via courier. Pushbrk is right. They store the paperwork at customs until they deem they have room for more cases. One good piece of news is that when they do pick up your paperwork, the P3 is almost sent immediately.
  21. Scott.. What date is your interview? If it is the latter part of August, I may be able to drive up your way. Of course this is all dependant on my SO getting approved for her visa on the 8th of August.
  22. Good luck on this new venture. We will be waiting with you with baited breath.
  23. congratulations. You are almost there. Best wishes.
  24. congratulations Bill.. Best wishes to you and your SO at the interview.
