  1. My wife stored a lot of stuff on QQ... evidently her account was deleted, she was not happy.
  2. This sounds like something I'd like to try. My wife sometimes buys noodles made out of green beans. they taste good and they are not green.
  3. Great news. I'm things are going nicely.
  4. Worth looking into... I don't eat much white rice, sometimes brown rice. We'll see. The wife had made some black rice awhile back. She mixed it with black beans and lotus seed (similar to peanuts). It was very tasty and about 10 minutes later I was snoozin in the chair. Good for a late night snack and sleep. I don't think it is in the standard grocery stores but can be found at Asian supermarkets and Whole Food stores. I found it last night at the Korean Farmer Market... didn't buy it yet. Wife discouraged me for some reason, cant remember why. I may try it in the future.
  5. Worth looking into... I don't eat much white rice, sometimes brown rice. We'll see.
  6. I would disagree I beleive Liquors, such as rum are made with sugars, but the yeast ferments the sugar and changes it to alcholol...it doesn't have carbs(sugar), but does have calories.
  7. This subject has been a concern for me in the past... my wife doesn't agree... China can do no wrong with her ... but it is home for her.... Once I was in Guilin, something happened with my eyes... the white parts swoll up. one of the doctors tried to roll my eye lids with a pencil... and I jumped back and wouldn't let them touch me.... told my then girlfriend(now wife) not to leave my side I eventually got an eye wash and 2 different meds and the next day I was fine. I often thought about if I was worse off. One other time when I was in Beihai, due to a problem with my feet(bone spurs)... I got an xray... and it was kinda of funny, everyone in the waiting room gathered around the xray and viewed the large feet of the american. They then prescribed some vinegar form em to massage my feet in hot water. didn't work much... still have the problem, but I'm not blaming them. I know my wife wants to move back since she will have properties to inherit. it's a while off for me, but I will have consider seriously in the future.
  8. I use it for my cereal in the morning... it's ok... I didn't like diet soda much in the past, but I don't mind them now. Still I don't drink them often...maybe once a week or so.
  9. I've been lucky with my numbers... never ever higher than 160's, but still too high, who know what they will be when I get older, I'm 53... mostly they are about 117 in the morning... I need to get more serious about my weight. I don't eat much sweets anymore... my wife made her "awesome" carrot cake... I can't resist.. she doesn't make it much though since I need to lose weight and it is not good for me... she said it will be a long time before she makes it again. I don't have a problem with the Medforin... I take it only after I eat... my sister had probles with it... she take insulin also... many problems low blood sugar. I tell her to keep glucolos pills near her bed. Hang in there.
  10. Do they celebrate Mother's day in China? I asked my son what hhe would do for his mother... he said nothing... well, I went and got a flower and a card for him..., made him give me the money. When My wife got the card, she said "peipei walked to the store and got me a gift"... I didn't say anything... I'm glad she was happy.
  11. I can understand your frustration... 4 months does seem extreme. maybe she will miss you and change her mind.
  12. You didn't mention how long she went. My wife went for about 6 weeks at the beginning of the year. I would think 3 months is about the limit. But that is only my opinion. I must say they do miss home. Don't let it upset you too much unless you question her reasons for going for so long even then what can you do about it now?
  13. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-south-asia-13257330 Got to love the BBC, not much said about this in the paper this morning. Evidently, we have known his whereabouts for sometime. At first wanting to bomb the compound, but the President said he wanted the body to be identified. Good ending to a bad story.
  14. Funny, just last week I was talking to this Mexican guy and he was saying how much liked eating them. I will pass this information onto him. I have never seen them here in Georgia although I have heard they are here, but years ago I lived in Oklahoma and I almost ran over one... I slammed on my brakes and it jumped up where I could see his beady little red eyes in my winshield.
  15. GREAT ADVICE, NICK! Good advice. I have a 19 y/o son. Have the same problem... his grade are ok now.. they used to be horrible. Still they can be better. I once read in Time magazine, in the last couple of years, there, this is a big problem in China. I understand that there are "places" that they send kids to break them from the addiction. I try telling Peipei this is not normal... I have done many things to curtail, with little result. I have taken the pug out, but the neighbor somewhere is not secured. The one that works the best is taking the computer, but he needs it for school. He has actually waken up, come to eat and then stay in his room until it's time to eat again, and then stay until late into the night. I have since reloacted the computer, near the kitchen, but it annoys me to see him on it all the time. What can you do? I just found this article in the NY times, by googling, Disturbing Internet Addiction
  16. I'm in the same boat myself now. Patience and the knowledge it won't last forever comforts me. I have 2 strong boys in my house who both eat very well... I don't cut grass anymore until they are both gone. I wish you well in this. Remember patience and deep breaths help.
  17. I'm sorry to hear of your loss. At least her pain is no more. My condolences.
  18. That's less than a piece of Vegas tail, ain't it? Guess she just wanted to see herself on the big screen.
  19. Can't say I really watched her movies... But no need in to say bad things about her. She was a movie star who hasn't been in the limelight for probably 40 years or more. May she Rest in Peace.
  20. I see you are in excellent hands with Mr D., Good luck going forward. Won't be long now. I had a delay with my I-130, but that is totally different from your situation, once I got approved, it was smooth sailing from then.
  21. My wife told me she can't get facebook in China. I'm not sure if it was blocked since Egypt had thier problems or before. China is not taking any chances
  22. Yep I remember that connection, made it on a tour a while back. Gotta say I loved that little route. It was easy to go Portland - Narita - Guangzhou. Easy and cheap to take train to Nanning. We use an alternate route now. Portland - Narita - Hong Kong. Take shuttle to Shenzen Airport, fly to Nanning. Either way we liked Northwest the best. Delta has been pretty good. Every other airline we tried to China, fell flat on their face with poor customer service. I've only flown Northwest, 5 times... liked them. Haven't been to China since 2008.
