  1. Hello! I keep getting an error message on QQ when I'm trying to share my screen. Would anyone be able to help me? I need to get this fixed, if at all possible. i have started teaching English for a company that uses QQ as a tool for teaching. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you so much!
  2. Hi. I am in China and finding that I want to text message folks back in the states. I am using a local sim card for my local calls. I am trying to figure out how to send messages on my ATT&T phone ( or my computer) that is in the airplane mode. I would like to send and receive message to folks that don't have We chat and QQ. Friends and coworkers. In the states I use Facebook messenger and I guess the other one is AT&T messenger. I can access the internet on my ATT&T via Wi-fi. That doesn't see to help me out. Any suggestions. Danb PS. AT&T is offering me an international plan for 40 dollars a month. Free text message and a think $1.00 a minute for calls: Dan : The AT&T Passport includes unlimited text messages, rate of $1.00/minute, unlimited Wifi and 200mb of data (Overage: $0.25/mb). With a one-time fee of $40.00, it will apply for up to 30 days. Dan : We also have a higher data bucket that are Dan : The AT&T Passport SILVER includes unlimited text messages, preferred rate of $0.50/minute, unlimited Wifi and 300mb of data (Overage: $0.20/mb). With a one-time fee of $60.00, it will apply for up to 30 days.
  3. I'm sure others have asked this, but I don't seem to be able to find the threads. What is the best way for my wife to call her parents in Xi'an? They are elderly and do not have access to a computer. Thus, my wife will need to call their cell phones directly, preferably from her own cell phone. Last year, I tried Skype to cell service in China, and it didn't work at that time. I have no idea if it works better now. I know there are some plans that allow you to call their service first, then that routes you through an alternate line for connecting to a phone in China. I simply seem to be unable, in my still jet-lagged state, to be able to figure out the key search words for Google to find them. Thank you for your suggestions.
  4. Hello. Last night I was trying to chat with my Lao Po friend's daughter. We started off with QQ Chat. I am much more familiar with using that that . My new friend wanted to use Wechat. To be truthful I didn't have any/much experience using Wechat. I have it on my phone and I have been logged into for about a year but I don't even know my password for it. With QQchat video chat, we can talk, use our webcam and also type messages, all at the same time. With Wechat we were mostly sending audio packets. They were short audio files of say about 20-30 secs long. Not really live. Does any one know if I was using Wechat correctly? Are there similar Wechat features like the ones when I use QQchat. Ability to talk, video and typing all at the time. At the moment my new friend had only her mobile phone. On my mobile I am already logged( always logged on) onto Wechat and QQ chat. On my computer I am logged onto QQ chat only. Wechat is asking for a password. Not sure what that is. I hope I wrote that down somewhere. As usually with computers I learn just enough to get things to work. I wonder how to reset my password. Danb
  5. Hi!! I am getting this big headache. Why you ask? Well it is because my old friend QQ. Normally i use qq on my latop. Well I thought i would be smart and load it on my mobile phone. I also tried to load it onto a couple of tablets that I have. In part the reason I was trying to eventually get wechat on some of my devices. I actually did get it on of my old Chinese smartphone. A friend in the states I think got it to work for me. It is odd but that is the only device that I can see her post on. Now my normal everyday smartphone has qq. That is a recent development. I think that started to work when I was in Nanning last month. The problem that I am having right now is that half of my qq chat goes to my laptop( preferred) and half of it shows up on my mobile phone. I am trying to chat with China but I can't figure if she is connected with me or not. What is happening is that I am seeing some of the messages on my message (AT&T) page. I am worried that I am going to get charged for international messaging. A dollar a message. I don't mind 5 buck a month but at the rate they are coming in it will be in the hundreds. I turn the mobile off and then some of the messages don't seem to end up on my qq laptop chat page. My Lao Po is using an Ipad. Normally she uses a regular computer but she doesn't have access to it anymore. She says that she is using wifi. Having qq on my mobile is nice because It is the easiest and simplest way to talk to Lao Po's Jiejie. Has anyone else had similar problems when having QQ on more than one digital device? Thanks Danb

  7. Hello. I am having some problems with my laptop. My computer is running very slow. I open up Window Task Manager and click on the process tab ( 2nd one over from the left) and look under a "Funshion.exe" listing it says 49-50% under CPU. I believe that means that my computer resources are being tied up with that Funshion process. I highlight that line and click on end process and the CPU runs a lot faster. I use QQ Chat to chat with my Lao Po. I suspect that I may have picked up Funshion when I downloaded some QQ Chat/ QQ International software. but I am not certain. Or tired accessing some Chinese site. If I cycle power on my Laptop then that file comes back and slows up my computer. Does anyone else have a similar problem with Funshion. Any idea of how to get rid of the problem? I run Microsoft virus protection/detection software and it doesn't pick up anything. Does anyone have any similar problems? Does any one know how to fix this problem? I just got a new desktop but I am afraid to set it up QQ on it. Any suggestions? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Danb Sometimes on power up a window will pops up and says something about "a bitmap problem". Don'y know if that is part of my problem. Normally I just "X" this window.
  8. Does any any know how to put QQ on a kindle fire?
  9. Hello everyone, I need some help. I usually use Yahoo messenger to chat with China but I think they are not supporting the older version that we are using. I can see my Lao po but she can not see me. We have always had issues with running the same versions. So I thought I would try to use QQ. I am having problems getting QQ to work on my computer. In the past few weeks I have tried to get it to work but I seem to be going around in circles. I had QQ on my computer for a few years but I never used it much. Only for sending a few emails a couple of years ago. I had an QQID. I downloaded QQ international last year I think. I not sure if the QQ email and the QQ international are automatically link together. So, I have tried to download the new version of QQ international 1.6. With all the problems that I am having I tried Uninstalling TencentQQ but I keep getting a message that QQ international is running on my computer and I have to close it first. I tried to but I keep going around in circles. Basically the computer will not let me remove/install the new program. I tried going to task manager and ending (task) the qq component but that is not working. I tried search this forum and the internet and I am not getting anywhere. Any suggestions on how I can fix this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Danb PS, Can anyone tell me how I should be trying qq email, qq international and qq chat. Is it suppose to be from one link?
  10. I'm living in the US and my fiancee is in Beijing. She is familiar with QQ so that is the platform we have been using to chat. We have no problem with instant messages. The problem is video chat. I'm able to see and hear her. However, using my webcam, she can't see or hear me. QQ's audio check indicates that my webcam's microphone is working but she is unable to hear me. If I use a headset microphone, she can hear me. I have skype and am able to use the same webcam to video chat with friends in Japan and across America with no problem. I don't believe that the issue is with the webcam itself or my video card in the computer. Perhaps there is some setting on QQ which I'm missing. If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate the help.

  13. LiYuan and I use QQ to chat and I am trying to figure out how to get the chat logs off of there.I have looked in the folders and cannot find them, so i know I am doing something wrong. Any help would be appreciated. I can see the days we chat on a calendar but cannot find a log style format. Thanks in advance for any help or advice.
  14. It seems my wife's friends and family are only comfortable with QQ. My wife can navigate to the chat service okay but cannot setup the webcam and microphone -- she is a bit technically challanged. I am more than a bit Chinese language challanged, so can anyone help? I have a plug and play Logitech webcam that worked fine when we used Skype or Yahoo. Step-by-step instruction in both Chinese and English characters would be great. Thanks!

  17. QQ, without a doubt is the main instant messaging platform used in China. Until earlier this year, the English version was outdated. When visting the link below, McAfee SiteAdvisor will show up red, signaling that there might be something fishy with the program download. Being somewhat curious though, I went a head and downloaded it, ran it through my AV program (Kaspersky) before installing it, as well as ran a full system scan afterward - no issues were found. One thing I really like about the QQ program, is that the international version is just the chat client, not the entire QQ suite (which contained a bunch of crap that ultimately bogged down your computer). Tencent seemed to get take the hint with this release. Once nice function is the screen capture function when using video chat (they also have audio calling w/o video). I would suspect that all of you guys/gals whose spouse/fiance are separated by the big pond, could find applicable uses for it (ie. presenting it with your chat/call logs. It also keeps a detailed history log. One note: Registering for a QQ number was a pain the butt for me. My wife did it though her Chinese version. No problems. If you run into busy servers, you can always have your fiance/spouse register one for you. http://www.imqq.com/download.shtml
  18. Does anyone out there consider themselves a QQ expert? My wife has QQ2009 installed on her Dell laptop (Vista). I have the same program on my Dell tower (Xp). We have no problem doing audio calls in both the USA and China. The video calls to China are very sparodic. Sometimes they work sometimes they do not. Usually my wife's friends and family can see and hear her and she can see them, but she can not hear them. Sometimes they can not hear her either. The folks in China test their video systems out by contacting each other. No problem for China-to-China video calls. Same here in US, no problem with US-to-US video calls. The audio calls always work. Does anyone have a clue as to what is going here and how I can resolve it? Thank you,
  19. I'm in the process of compiling documentation for a future submission to USCIS/GUZ(haven't decided whether to go K1/K3/CR-1 yet), and came across a minor stumbling block. Anyhow, a great deal of communication in our relationship has been over the internet, specifically via QQ. At one point during the relationship about 1 1/2 years ago, my girlfriend's QQ account was hacked/stolen, and she registered a new one. I ended up deleting the old account from my friends list for obvious reasons. I didn't think it was a big deal at the time, because we were in a situation where our relationship began as a chance meeting, and we embarked in our journey without knowing anything about the circus that is GUZ. So, the chat log for the deleted account(which should be something like 4-5 months worth) isn't showing up in the QQ history anywhere. I didn't care about this at the time, but I get the feeling that GUZ wouldn't feel the same way about saying "oh, the QQ account got hacked, and we couldn't retrieve the chat from the old account." There's a software program that will supposedly extract QQ chat, (called "QQ Analyzer" or somesuch), but the demo version only does 20 messages, and it's $50 for the full version. The demo version did confirm that the chat with this account is still in the history/log file, but 20 messages isn't going to satisfy the VO. Is there a way to recover all this chat without paying $50, which to me is an unreasonable sum for something as trivial as extracting a chat log?
  20. I know QQ is popular in China, I was curious if there is a way to register to get a QQ number without having to navigate the Chinese registration process? Has anyone else done this? Timb

  22. My wife and daughter want to install QQ on our computer. We have tried several sites (talk about slow downloads) with no luck. I found one this morning that downloaded the program, but when I started it, the Chinese characters were corrupt. Does anyone have any recommendations?
