  1. My wife is getting the notarial marriage certificate among other docs but she is being asked which notarial marriage cert she wants ... the book or the paper explaining our (she and my) relationship as husband and wife. I told her the book, but she asks me to question here and make sure I am correct. Any ideas? Also should I have docs translated here in USA? Before I scan and e-mail them?
  2. I am doing electronic filing and let me tell you ... its so fast that I'm behind schedule. My wife had to take a sudden trip back to her home town for more documents. If your filing CR1 I highly recommend opting in for electronic filing.
  3. Great! Thanks for all the replies. I got so excited about how fast the electronic processing works that I shot myself in the foot. I e-mailed off the DS-230 parts 1 & 2 without the corresponding civil docs ... doh! Anyways, thanks again for the replies!
  4. My wife tells me that she has no single piece of paper birth certificate. She says only young people in China have this document. She showed me what she calls her Birth Notary. I believe this to be the "White Book" I've read of on these boards. Am I correct in my thinking? Will this be good enough for Guz? Appaullo
  5. Hi all ... just got a checklist cover letter from NVCGuangzhou. They say they received my I-864, but are still waiting on my Ds-230s and corresponding civil documents. I have no clue what these 'civil documents' are. Do they mean Police report? The checklist is not a list, only 'civil documents'. Here is a quote from it ... ********************************************* The NVC has received the requested Affidavit of Support form (I-864) for this case. However, we are still waiting for the Immigrant Visa Application (DS-230) and corresponding civil documents for each traveling applicant to be returned to National Visa Center for review. You will find the DS-230 form along with complete instructions for submitting the civil documentation required for this case at www.ImmigrantVisas.state.gov under the Applicant Document Processing link. We urge you to send in the DS-230 form(s) and required civil documentation for each traveling family member in one package to the National Visa Center (NVC). Sending the information in separately may cause delays in the processing of the case. ______CORRESPONDENCE INSTRUCTIONS:_________________________________ All forms and documents that we request and require from you should be scanned and e-mailed to the NVC as Portable Document Format (PDF) files. The applicant must present all original forms and documents to the Consular officer at the visa interview. Failure to present the required originals at the visa interview will result in a denial or delay in obtaining a visa for the sponsored applicant. Any questions regarding your petition should continue to be directed to NVCGuangzhou@state.gov. ************************************************** Any advice is appreciated.
  6. Congratulations!! And I would avoid chinese food in the states if I were you ... for a while at least. I have yet to find a Chinese place that serves food as good as I had in China. My favorite is Hubei style, which sadly I didnt get to have on my last trip to China. To me (as I related in a different post) having Chinese food here is like having a steak sub and saying "I'm having steak!". But maybe thats just me.
  7. Tsap .... My heart and hopes are with you 110 % on this. Reading your story just breaks my heart, and I have to say ... you are a strong man indeed to still have a sense of humor about it. The things our elected officials allow to happen to us 'people' (of the people, by the people, for the people *laugh*) are sinful. And thats being gracious. You are an oak, brother. Stay strong, your day is coming!! Appaullo
  8. I did it all by hand, signed it, scanned it and sent it. I did it in two parts ... part one being the cover sheet, payment receipt, and actual I-864. Part two being check stubs, my employment letter and tax transcripts for the last three years. I called yesterday and asked if it was ok to send in two parts ... the woman I talked to gave me a half hearted "I'm sure its fine". I also sent in the DS-230 parts 1 and 2. Which leads me to my next question ... whats next? Sit and wait? Appaullo
  9. Well, I sent 2 e-mails. I tried several times to adjust dpi ... to no avail. I bought yahoo mail plus for 19.99 and was granted an error message when trying to send my 17 mb mail. So I went ahead and sent 2 e-mails. Fingers are crossed.
  10. OK ... so is it universally decided that to send 2 e-mails with one attachment the cover sheet, payment receipt and I-864, and a second e-mail with another attachment of work letter, check stubs, and tax transcripts a bad idea? I'm using a Hewlit Packard scanner, native software that came with it, and I cant seem to find how to reset the dpi from 300 to 150.
  11. Well, I scanned my I-864 and accompanying documents (tax transcripts, work letter, and check stubs) into a .pdf. But its 17 mb and my mail (yahoo) only lets me send up to 10 mb. Anyone run into this before? Any advice? Can I split this .pdf into 2 or 3 .pdfs?
  12. I was in the same boat as you, Sleepbear. Go ahead and pay your AOS fee online now. I also never received any official word telling me I was in the electronic processing. It wasnt until I could NOT pay my IV Fee Agent OLP online that I made a call and was then informed my case number had been changed because I was in the electronic processing. Pay your AOS now, pay your IV Fee when it comes, if you receive database error when trying to print out a receipt or pay online call NVC and they will probably tell you your case number has changed.
  13. Congratulations!! Great news!!
  14. Fantastic news!! Congratulations!!
  15. Thank you, Dan!! Again, sorry to be asking so many questions.
  16. Sorry all, for so many questions. I got an e-mail today from NVC saying I need to pay online a $400.00 because I've been designated agent for my wife. But I paid the Affidavit of Support fee online, and still do not have a GZO case number ... it is still listed as GUZ. Not sure if I should pay this now? Or wait for a GZO number? Also as I am online trying to work with the USCIS website even now I am getting error messages saying my case number and invoice ID number do not match. I called the NVC helpline and they told me its USCIS website not theirs and I should keep trying. I tried again and am now getting a "Database Error" message. Is this me? Or is the website experiencing problems? Anyone else encountered something like this before? Only reason I ask is because it first told me my numbers do not match.
  17. I just wanted to make sure ;P I didnt want them sending it back to me to be redone Many thanks for the answer, Randy! Appaullo
  18. I am the sole sponsor on this petition. My confusion is on page 1, Part 3 .... question(s?) 8/9 .... 8 has a check box "I am sponsoring the prinicipal immigrant named in Part 2 above" ... I have this box checked. Underneath it are two more boxes "Yes" and "No (Applicable only in cases with two joint sponsors)". I have no idea if I should check "Yes" here or not. It says only applicable if 2 sponsors after the *no* box ... but not after the yes box. So do I check "Yes"? Leave blank? This is the only thing left for me to fill out on this form. Appaullo
  19. Yes - it is faster - you can shave off 4 to 5 months of 'wait time' between NVC IN and P4 OUT time ticks if you go electronic. Pay online, you have a GUZ number now, so you can DO THIS. Then, OPT IN for electronic processing, and WAIT a few days whilst NVC re-works the case for a GZO 'electronic' casefile number. Then, pay attention to your emails... NVC will email you exactly what to send, and in what order. If you can respond in same day or next day, each time, should take about 7 days from start to finish (once the GZO number is assigned) .. Sorry for the jumbled replies, but I hope you are sussing this all out? Well they e-mailed me and asked me to scan and e-mail them my Affidavit of support, but as yet they have NOT assigned me a new case file number. I'm thinking it may be prudent to wait a few more days until the new case file number is e-mailed to me, yes? If my understanding is correct it should change from GUZ ... to GZO?
  20. hehehe ... ok, I now have 3 e-mails to nvcguangzhou. I hope they dont disqualify me based on my stupidity ;P. Fingers crossed.
  21. Can't seem to get pdf creator to work. The only thing I get is a 2 page pdf document with blank first page and second page saying some kind of error. Printing it up, then scanniung it into .pdf format ... for whatever reason my computer seems unable to get a .pdf editor to work.
  22. Well I forwarded the e-mail DS-3032 she initially sent to nvcinquiry to nvcguangzhou. I also e-mailed them my optin request and added a .doc form of her e-mail. I hope this will be enough to get me into the electronic program. Do you think I should have her send another e-mail from her computer to nvcguangzhou also? I dont want to flood their inbox and make them angry.
