  1. Coming home is the roughhest isnt it? But you will find you are stronger than you think, Robert. Missing her does not make you a weenie ... it makes you a man. Work hard, focus on 57 more days, and do a bang up job on your paperwork. Also you MUST get sleep ... sleep deprivation will not help you. And welcome home.
  2. Sorry about the blue. Keep your chin up and keep plugging away at what they ask you for. Sounds like he did great on the interview!
  3. A question there also - do they specify somewhere that it should be a pdf file, or would a jpeg or other format work also? I believe I read that they will accept ONLY PDF files-no other format. See this link for more info: http://travel.state.gov/visa/visa_4409.html However, I have a question of my own if someone can answer it...We've emailed to OPTIN for the electronic processing for our CR-1 in Guangzhou, and attached our DS-3032 to the email as was directed. Now, we haven't received any confirmation email back, or our new electronic processing case number which should start with GZO. Do we wait until we get that new case number to email our documents like the I-864 and tax returns, etc., before we email the documents, or can we begin emailing the documents now while using the old case number. Our AOS and IV fees have already been confirmed as paid. Thanks, Splinterman Splinterman, This is not really an answer ... just the way I did it. I opted in and waited to e-mail anything until I heard from them. After a while I went to the USCIS website to check my reciepts for fees already paid and found I couldnt log in ... I called them up and they told me I had a new GZO case number. Thats why I couldnt log in. A few days later my e-mail confirmation with my GZO number came. I'd say maybe give them a call. It will come, its just a matter of how long they take to get it to you. Hope this is some help to you.
  4. My apologies. The movie I talked of has had a decent amount of discussion here in China. (Though I've only talked about it in English, so I'm not sure of it's Chinese name, or how it might be translated. I only know the official English title.) I thought it may have been an alternative translation of the film title. Do you know any other ways it might be viewed? I'd be interested in seeing that show... When I was in Guangzhou in September for the wife's interview she wanted to see "Ice Age 3" ... the movie theatre we went to informed her they were only showing "Founding of a Republic" and nothing more. It seemed like a big preparation for the 60 year celebration.
  5. Shes flying United. Hong Kong to Chicago ... 4 hour layover for customs, immigration, etc, then on to Detroit Metro.
  6. Yeah, I may be confused ... I only know that all of my flights to China I have had to layover in Dulles, or Newerk before flying onto China. So my assumption was that Detroit Metro did not have international flights or POE status. Sorry for any confusion .
  7. Hey, Robert, Glad your having fun. Glad to hear the family loved the gifts. Can never go wrong with candy and vitamins .... what an odd combination, but it worked with my wife's family too.
  8. I advised my wife against bringing hers ... I told her we can rebuild her collection here in the US. I just did not want to take any chances whatsoever.
  9. The wife is now considering coming to US earlier than she originally thought. So my question is : does it matter what POE airport she goes to? Her ultimate destination will be Detroit Metro Airport in Romulus, but alas, this is not yet a POE airport. So we are trying to decide ... New York, New Jersey, Chicago ... does it matter? Or can we just look for the best deal price wise and deal with her POE anywhere? Thanks in advance.
  10. Agreed. I find vitamins, and chocolate to be big hits. I bought my Brother in law some New Balance shoes on my last trip. But you may want to wait on something like that until you meet them in person.
  11. Hes married to a Chinese woman. Of course its his fault! I learned this early on with my wife. Most of my replies to her mistakes these days are something like this "I will do better next time." or "I'm still learning, Honey ... give me time."
  12. By the way ... at ACH I asked the VO about the downloaded appointment letter vs. the actual mailed appointment letter. She asked me if I would help spread the word ... I dont remember her exact words, but it was something like this ... the electronic processing is still VERY new and because of this sometimes an appointment letter is mailed still, but usually not. The e-mailed Appointment cvr letter.pdf is what is usually sent and will get you into the consulate for your interview. If anyone remembers my admittedly panicked threads on this earlier in Sept and you are in a similar frame of though I hope this helps.
  13. OH!! By the way .... whats next?! She wont be coming for another month or two, possibly she may wait and spend Chinese New Year with her family before she comes, while this is longer than I want ... I can busy myself by finishing the work in her office here in my house. Anyways, if anyone can post a link to a thread to tell me what comes next after she gets here ... GC, AOS, etc? Thanks in advance!
  14. When I spoke to her, she did not give me this percentage. I am sure there is a number, but her interests were case by case and not a quota system. The difficulty for her would seem is the reality of so many fraudulent cases in China. Kind of reminds me of the all the negative cig ads lately. You knowing run a unit that has one of the highest level of fraudulent cases.......you as the person-in-charge, what would you do? Let everyone pass.....it is like believing that everyone that comes to CFL has a bon a fide case. It is simply not reality..... Okay, I am sorry for the soap box, since I came into this process reading all the negative decisions and almost buying into the thought that you simply have to be lucky..... Let me rephrase that a little bit - If you DO have a bona fide relationship and you are given a blue or white slip ANYWAY, that is a life-changing amount of BAD luck. Read the article - the UC admits that mistakes are made, and that petitioners are given the opportunity to re-group and file another petition. In my opinion, it's all in the presentation - a carefully assembled petition/application which presents a picture of a loving couple, a relatively well-to-do petitioner, and a perky beneficiary make all the difference in the world. If something catches the VO's eye, or the beneficiary hasn't had her figurative cup of coffee yet, well, the luck may just not be there. Yes, you have to be lucky - some people are not. I just posted my wife's "pink" result in the results thread, so if you see it there, you'll see that my wife's behavior was 'perky' as Randy used it here in this thread. I didnt use the word perky, but if you read my thread, you'll see she was perky and VERY confident.
  15. Certainly. We got to the Consulate at 7:00. Two long lines already formed. It looked like she was 3/4 of the way back in the line. Another American (who was working in China) there with his wife, approached me and struck up a conversation, informing me not to worry about her placement in line as the interview schedule was already known to the VOs. Meaning, my wife could be the last one in but the first one called. When they went in I walked with her up to the 4th floor then told her I'd be in the coffee shop (I dare not tell her what I spent on a can of coke though, she'd be furious! ). She was back down VERY quickly with pink in hand. She told me she was confident, conducted the interview in all english and when asked she gave long, detailed answers. She felt confident and she thinks (and I agree) that this was a big factor, she was friendly and all smiles and the VO returned the mood to my wife. We had a thick stack of paperwork that made my arm hurt to carry, but all she was asked for were photos. A third of those photos, by the way, were of me with my wife's family. They are my family too, but for clarity ... we'll say 'her' family. To go over again, my wife's mood and demeanor were so light and airy, that she had the VO laughing along with her when she answered questions. My wife said she was sad for the interview to end, she doesnt get to use English much except with me. Anyways, I hope this helps! My advice ... confidence, preparedness, english (if possible) and a HUGE dose of good luck cant hurt!
  16. Wife had her interview on Monday Sep. 28. Pink! Woo-hoo! Took me a while to post this due to my traveling back on Wednesday getting in at 11:30 PM, then getting up at 4:00 AM Thursday for work Anyway, just letting all know!
  17. OK, I am here in Guzand just got back fro my ACS appointment to make sure my wife's appt letter is what we need. But at ACS they turned me away flat. Told me they can answer NO questions. I am hoping ACH will be a better experience? Any thoughts?
