  2. Fujian Province is what I think Dave was looking for? That's the one. Thanks DD.
  3. No. The I-693 is the supplement that is to be filled out by the CS and included in the packet. I believe the CS will have this form. Just find one that understands that she doesn't need the complete exam, just the supplement filled out. You can also print out a copy and take it with you to the CS appt. http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-693.pdf
  4. Really it depends on the particular VO on a particular day but there are some that seem to raise more questions more often. In no particular order: -CCP membership, obviously. Can be overcome, especially if it can be shown that membership was a requirement of employment etc. -Lack of any means of communication between the two. If they can demonstrate they can communicate it can be overcome. -Women from a particular province raise the suspicion of GUZ because of a past pattern of fraud. Can't remember the province right now. I 'm sure someone else will mention it. Not always fair to women from there but little in the process is always "fair." -Beneficiary financing the petitioner's trips to China. -Petitioner having sponsored other beneficiaries in the recent past. This won't eliminate someone automatically, but they'll take a closer look at the petition. -Lack of much physical evidence of a relationship. Pictures, receipts etc. This one is kinda obvious but some people still try to get by without it. Mostly people who haven't read Candle. -Extensive contact with ex spouses. Some other things that MAY raise flags but have been overcome by many are: -huge age difference -divorces -short "courtship" In and of themsleves these usually aren't deciding factors but can be considered in "close" cases where there may be questions about other things. I"m sure others will disagree with some and/or come up with more.
  5. Are we sure it's a wife and not a hubby?
  6. I hope this does it for you guys. You've certainly paid your dues. Good luck.
  7. So far in three trips I've avoided the dreaded "squat." Mostly because I spent most of my time in Shanghai, a few days in Beijing and about a week in Shenzhen, all with adequate supplies of "western" toilets. The closest I came was at one of the Ming tombs. When we got there I was "in need" but not in emergency mode. So I checked out the toilet and found only holes and one occupied stall. I decided I could wait and we started off on the tour. About a minute later I realized I wasn't going to be waiting and that taking the tour was out of the question without some relief. I figured it was time to face the music so I got my supply of TP from Christine and headed into the belly of the beast. When I walked in I noticed that the last stall that had been occupied before was now empty. Figuring it couldn't hurt to make sure, I looked in expecting to see another hole. To my great surprise, there sat the most beautiful "throne" I'd ever seen. Whew! Keep the stories coming David. Each one brings back mostly fond memories.
  8. Keep 'em coming David. With Christine in China for the next monthas well, I get to live vicariously through two people.
  9. CONGRATULATIONS AND HAPPY B-DAY!! B)
  10. Dave goes to Macy's in Chicago, my feng will get a Wally World card here in Sycamore and like it!! Mark, you're in luck old buddy. There's a Macy's in Joliet too. That's not all that far for you. I'll have Christine get in touch with feng and give her the particulars. You're welcome.
  11. . . . and this is an actual VISA credit card that can be used anywhere. Macy's is Jiaying's favorite clothing store Yeah, I forgot to mention that. Thanks Randy. Christine doesn't get a lot of her clothers there, but man can she drop the $$$ at the Estee Lauder counter.
  12. We're having some of the same issues. One thing we just did this week was go to Macy's and sign up for their credit card. They practically tackle you in the store to get you to sign up for one of those things, telling you you'll get 15% off your purchases blah, blah, blah. I hate that usually, but in this case it actually works out pretty well for folks in our situation. We only had to fill out the name and phone # part of the app. They send you the card in the mail and give you a receipt to show to get the 15% until it comes. The catch is that since she has no credit history, the limit is $200 to start. But they said that if we use it and pay it off on time for three months, then they raise the limit. So it's a pretty painless way to get a credit card in her name and to start building a credit history.
  13. Excellent posts David. Very interesting and informative. I learned something new (about the glasses during toasts) and something old (about the traffic). I hope the title of the thread means you'll be continuing this when you're there. I'll be watching for it.
  14. We also just got our notice, and we got a notice of card prodcution twice almost a week apart. Not sure why they wanted to tell us twice. Did you file the G-28s? If so, you'll get one for you and one for her. If not, welcome to the paper reduction efforts of your gov't. Maybe are the G-28 the bio pages? My notices are just that the cards are being producted. Hey, I got a new email today that they are being mailed. No, it's the notice of appearance of attorney or representative. It means your entitled to get all the notices/info she gets.

  16. Welcome to Candle Chad. I'll do my best to answer your questions. Others will be along to correct or add to my answers, probably before I even get them typed out. 1. Yes, just write "See Attachment" in the space and type out the info on the attachment. Be sure to indicate the question # you're answering on the attachment. 2.I think the Gov'ts primary concern is your current employment and whether you can support your wife. So honesty is the best policy. 3. Do the best you can. I would think putting the city/province should suffice. Others may disagree. 4. Don't leave any blanks. Use either "None" or "N/A." I think None works for this one. 5. I don't think leaving the states in will cause you any problems. You're right. Once you send it in it's mainly a bunch of waiting for NOA1 then NOA2 etc. You can study up in the FAQs here to find out what you can be doing in the meantime as far as evidence gathering etc. Good luck. Edit: Yep. Jim definately has faster fingers.
  17. Could be Clayton. Could be. Congrats!

  20. Wow. I'll bet we can count on part of one hand how many members here were able to have that kind of independant verification. Good for you. I pointed this out to my Yu last night, it brought a big smile to her face. Happy to help.
