  1. Lucy and I already contributed what we could. This is a tragic event. My wife is very concerned for the persons affected as am I.
  2. Seems like every drop of blood that can be squeezed... Good news Ron!!!
  3. Is that the 1000 year duck egg? Want some stinky tofu with that? For here or to go sir?
  4. My wife asks me if "You washed teeth"? If a light is left on it's "light too big". It's an adventure alright
  5. Do you have a reference for that Dave? Jim, what the heck you doing in your avatar?? Last time I purchased rice was last month in Houston. Paid $16 something for a 25 pound bag of Jasmine. Anyone know what the current price is now for similar?
  6. The local news station here in Houston said Sam's Club is rationing to 4 large bags because the businesses are the ones buying all the rice to curtail rising costs. There is no shortage but the supply and demand factor.
  7. My wife is more friendly to her Chinese friends that ARE NOT overly friendly to me, if that makes sense. If someone gets along with me better than her... she has something to say about it... FOR HOURS ON END... B)
  8. My opinion is this happens more than we want to know but is overshadowed by the immigration issues of Mexico. It's all about the FRANKLINS!!!
  9. What a great show he has. It really hits close to home with Lucy as she lived in Guangzhou for a brief time. We are watching the re-broadcast right now. Lucy laughed so hard when he ate the starfish. She said "no eat that... only for looking" just when the lady on the show said he shouldn't eat that.
  10. I also had this procedure done and recently asked my doctor of a reversal. Not that I want a reversal because I have 3 children, 5 grandchildren and Lucy's children. His answer was that a procedure could be done but the success rate would be very small that I could father another child. 10 years was his window of opportunity. Some women are ok not to have children. Most feel incomplete not to mother a child in my opinion. Lucy and I have talked about what a child of ours would look like but she is in no way going to have another child.
  11. We have a lot of benefits being U.S. citizens. Unfortunately, airline baggage issues isn't one of them. There are alternative means to transport your items such as DHL and UPS but I'm afraid that may be a bit pricey! Have a safe trip home.... congrats again!
  12. Great to hear and please travel safe!
  13. This can be a very delicate issue but my perception is that China protects it's interests just as the Chinese people protect themselves. It is a do or die situation I feel. It's either contribute to the common good and benefit or shrivel up and die.
  14. From the USCIS website: If the sponsor is a U.S. Citizen, they may petition for the following foreign national relatives to immigrate to the U.S: Husband or wife Unmarried child under 21 years of age Unmarried son or daughter over 21 Married son or daughter of any age Brother or sister, if the sponsor is at least 21 years old, or Parent, if the sponsor is at least 21 years old. [*] If the sponsor is a lawful permanent resident, they may petition for the following foreign national relatives to immigrate to the U.S.: Husband or wife, or Unmarried son or daughter of any age. In any case, the sponsor must be able to provide proof of the relationship. Preference Categories If you wish to immigrate as a relative of a U.S. Citizen or lawful permanent resident, you must obtain an immigrant visa number based on the preference category in which you fall. People who want to become immigrants are classified into categories based on a preference system. The immediate relatives of U.S. citizens, which includes parents, spouses and unmarried children under the age of 21, do not have to wait for an immigrant visa number to become available once the visa petition filed for them is approved by USCIS. An immigrant visa number will become immediately available. The relatives in the remaining categories must wait for an immigrant visa number to become available according to the following preferences: First preference: Unmarried, adult sons and daughters of U.S. citizens. Adult means 21 years of age or older. Second Preference: Spouses of lawful permanent residents, their unmarried children (under twenty-one), and the unmarried sons and daughters of lawful permanent residents. Third Preference: Married sons and daughters of U.S. Citizens. Fourth Preference: Brothers and sisters of adult U.S. Citizens.
  15. I think by some of the info you post in the past that you and wife don't spend much time together. Taking that and the fact that K-visa relationships have very little time to develop anyways. Getting to know my wife has been a challenge. She's not the same lady I met on my first trip who made my head spin. She's a bit on the selfish side sometimes and I have seen her tell those little white lies... just not to me yet. Her attitude is good however. She just thinks I'm a bit too emotional about our relationship. I know she loves me... maybe not the perfect relationship but something to grow on. In a perfect relationship I think I'd get bored!!! I'm not a relationship counselor but sounds like you need to get to know her better. Don't give up... ever! Good Luck Doug!
  16. The I-864 form is the financial piece. As long as you meet the poverty guidelines, there should be no problem. You stated that your Uncle co-sponsored. Not sure but he will also be checked out.The USCIS website is also full of info under the forms section. What we did was follow each step to the letter. Remember that each mistake will cost you about 6 months in delays... it did for us. The FAQ moderator may be more help as well as the FAQ section. FAQ mod is DavidZixuan. Glad you joined CFL. Your experiences as a young American woman marrying a young Chinese man is rare here as well as having women members period. I'm sure you'll get the help you need. You're 20? I have pants older than that Good Luck
  17. I wouldn't be surprised if Chicken Feet and Tsing Tao wasn't the main snack attraction...
  18. Gerald's posts were always of high spirit. He was a good friend to all of us on this forum. My sincere condolences!
  19. The key to this I have found is to only teach her the positive words, especially when the word pertains to you!
  20. Great, now the Chinese can enjoy our favorite boredom. I thought watching golf was our favorite boredom!
  21. http://infopass.uscis.gov/ (I'm not just anyone I'll let you know)
  22. Should I be worried about our trip to Houston next week? Sounds like your wife has some thing to hide?
