  1. Visa approved!! My father and son went to the Counsulate 11/29 to turn in Med and were told immediately visa approved and they chose visa package EMSed to Beijing. I was surprised they don't have to wait 2 more days for the "result". Is the Counsulate feeling guilty and trying to make up for the unexpected renovation last week? or a big change to the procedure? Anyway good for us and those with call-in letters.
  2. What bxxxshxt! When my father took my son to guz consulate they were told the consulate is takingthe whole week off! Many people were at the gate and protesting.
  3. Lee, do you have a tracking number that shows if visa has been mailed out? Does that tracking number, if any, come with the pink slip?
  4. That sucks! Your case made me feel more uncomfortable about my son's getting visa soon. Well we can only pray, let our loved ones come soon. This whole process is just illegal!
  5. I am confused aobut the above discussion of 6-mo expiration date. My parents brought my son to redo med this morning and were told The med report redo is not necessary because only X-ray expires in 6 months. The med examiner would not redo an exam which is not expired. They would only do the X-ray and necessary vaccines and issue a new report with the old date. This is what they learned from bj when my parents took my son to redo the med. The examiner said this is a fairly new policy regarding immigration. Before that, they would redo a new exam. I'm not comfortable with this explanation. Does anybody know this?
  6. I see. Do you know how many days does it usually take to get the visa after required documents are turned in?
  7. Hey Hugazebra, you signature says "2010-10-14 GUZ callback letter, received a week later". What did you receive a week later? Visa? I am so worried after I learned that Lee has not received visa 18 days after pink slip.
  8. Thanks Dan. We decided to turn the med and passport in in the week of 11/29 after the Games and Thanksgiving. If everything goes well, we should get visa in early dec. I need to make sure the Airline accepts an 11 yr old flying alone from bj to Chicago.
  9. I just remembered that 11/22-11/26 is thanksgiving week. Does anybody know the working days of GZ Counsulate during that week? And the Asian Games' on 11/12 -11/27. What a timing? I guess it'll be hard to find cheap air fare and reasonable lodging.
  10. Again medical is not the limiting factor, med is valid for one year acording to immigrations USCIS the exam info is turned into USCIS at the POE in the immigrations packet Brown Envelope. Typically consulate sets expiration for 90 days or 6 months. Thanks so much for all your advice. Our plan is to get my son here in mid Dec.Then he will have 3 weeks to adapt to his new life before school starts in Jan. 11/12, Redo Med exam. 11/15, Notarize the power of attorney.(My husband is strongly against my son's gonna take a week off school to GZ for the visa package. I don't want to argue with him on this. So I need to make sure the POA will be made correctly.) 11/22, My father brings the med exam report, passport, and power of attorney to GZ. 11/26, My father gets the visa package and goes back to beijing. Then we can plan my son's trip to Chicago. My husband will meet my son at O'hare airport. I'm concerned if there's anything I might have omitted. Please help with any advice. I have made a stupid mistake that screwed up my son's GZ interview in March. I want to make sure he gets visa package this time.
  11. My son received call in letter yesterday but his med exam was done in March (so it expired?) The call in letter requires a new med exam report along with his passport being sent to GZ. My questions are: 1. Does a "call in letter" always mean an immigration visa has been approved? 2. Does my son have to go to GZ personally to get the visa package? or is it ok that my father (his grandfather) goes to GZ to turn in required passport and exam report as authorized by my son (notarized). My concern is if there is any situation that needs my son's presence in GZ before he can finally get his visa. 3. Is there anybody in GZ that we can authorize to turn in passport and med exam report and get the visa package for my son? How does that work? I'm so excited that the call in letter finally came. I need to make sure everything will be taken care of and avoid any mistakes. Any advice please!
  12. Thank you guys. I'll call airlines directly before buying ticket. Yesterday a lady from GZ Counsulate called me and my husband asking basic questions to verify if a bona fide marriage exists between us. And my husband happened to be in BJ. So she called me first, then my husband, and then my parents who my son lives with. We take this a good sign that our case is moving now.
  13. Thank you David. I'll do that. Is he allowed to either fly along or follow a best friend of mine to Chicago? Either way I will be getting him at the O'hare airport. I am concerned if we can not make the time out of busy job to pick him up. This is not our first choice, but I want to know what options do we have. Is the first time landing required to be with a parent?
  14. We just got another email reply from GZ saying "case is still in administrative process. it may take months. we'll inform beneficiary if..." This whole process is just frustrating. But we are hopeful to get my son here by the year end. My question is "Do I need my ex to sign a paper giving up custody to my son?" I heard stories that minors can be detained at the airport if the biological parent in China won't allow child to leave China. I'm not sure if I can find my ex.I have full custody to my son showing on the divorce agreement. Will there be no such problem at the airport with bringing son to the States if his visa got approved? Though I don't think it will be a problem, I want to be safe and make sure there won't be any "story" again. Thanks guys!
