I'm not sure that I can share much but sympathy, Can you show a timeline...K?. I was stuck at the NVC going through name check for almost 9 months. Maura Harty was my only help. Phil

To all: Let it all stand in print. Delete nothing. I'm a discerning person and will make my own decisions. EDIT NOTHING. King has been nothing but an outstanding assest to this site. Dennis: if you don't like the offer...then don't sign up - as you stated you decided. You have your impressions and made your decision. Just be careful - you might want to pull out your multiple choice primer and look up the word LIBEL. One of my favorite teachers used to say,"you pay your money; you take your chances". Doesn't sound like you received anything harmful from King and the price you paid indicates what you should have received. I'll tell everyone this - I pray that the rest of my application goes smoothly. I used the services of a very good attorney from the beginning who was right on. If I find myself in GuangZhou needing help; My man is King...I'll pay my money (gladly) and he is my choice. and in closing, my Mother used to tell me, "if you don't have something good to say about someone, then keep your mouth shut". David: I am a K-1 visa...held up at NVC. Letter to Maura Harty may have helped. Phil

It wouldn't hurt to post your complete timeline and visa type for clarity. Once you have become one of the chosen by the NVC you can expect a period of time in the dark. My wait was 9 months...some have gone faster; some slower; but getting inside information on where you stand is quite impossible. If it is taking 5 to 9 to 14 or more months to check on us good guys; then the bad guys who are moving around don't have much to fret. Nai Xin, Phil

I have hit some of the staples...Wild Swans; Red China Blues; 1421; I'm taking two with me next week to break up that wonderful 16 hour flight: Mao and The Rape of Nanking. While my first trip was fiction: The Bear and the Dragon...there were some underlying messages coming through. I agree with the old timers...it's kind of like some of the kids I see coming out of college....lot of book learnin' - not much ability in ducking a mop! Dan: Write a polite, to-the-point letter to Maura Harty at State. I think this is the only consistent contact that has helped. She will track down where you are in NVC. I wouldn't be surprised if it came out shortly afterwards. Good luck....from someone who has been waiting a long time, Phil

Jim: I think that many including me would recommend engaging KING immediately. Secondly, maybe sharing some info with us may bring out some suggestions. Can you post a timeline and possibly elaborate a litte? How did you meet? How many trips to China? How do you communicate? you know the regular rundown. Maybe someone here can help too. Li & Larry: Mine was sent 11/2/05 and signed STAMP on 12/19...that's like 6 weeks...but hey, I beat you - I was only at the NVC for 9 months and yes, I also contacted Maura Harty and the roadblock evaporated...go figure! Maybe we will join you for interviews! Phil & Yun

SunsetRed52: Mike is correct. If it says....STAMP and dated 12/7/05; then it is inside the consulate and being prepared to be entered into the computer system and a P-3 packet going out. Therefore, your P-3 should be arriving right before or right after Christmas. Phil

for DHL tracking; You have passed through one more wicket of the process. DHL ships over packages quicker than the Consulate in GuangZhou can process them. Therefore, these packages sit in a customs facility waiting for the consulate to send over the paperwork to request clearance and delivery. STAMP is in lieu of someone's name. If you think that your application shipped out of Portsmouth, N.H. on 10/25/05 then it was one of three shipments delivered to the consulate and accepted on 12/7/05. It looks like the gap is running 6 weeks going into Christmas. That is why 2 months from NVC to GuangZhou may not be too far off. Hopefully, the consulate will now put your application into the computer and send out the P-3 packet to the address you have presented. I am in the group 2 shipments right behind you (11/2/05) and am hoping to see something delivered to my SO in January. Keep in touch, Phil

EdG: All's well that ends well...I think that there are some very mixed emotions here about hiring an attorney...however, in your case it sounds like the right course. I think that your presence in GuangZhou is very influential in overcome situations. PS. I hired an attorney and have no complaints...some have not been so lucky. I am happy for you, Phil

Dennis: as a precaution; I would have her get a thorough screening of blood etc..from your Doctor. Things like Hepatitis B are very common. Of course after being here for 5 years probably nothing will surface...then there's blood pressure and other things that have no outward signs. I know, I was diognosed with high blood pressure and would have never known. Just a thought as a precaution...no offense intended to your beautiful woman! Phil
