1. Maybe the for looks one will be closer to their idea of a marriage cert. Scary how these people control our lives.
2. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!! Great News!!! Amber since our cases went to CSC together could you drop a good word for us? We did get touched on 1/24. I hope that's a good sign.
3. This is an easy one. They need to keep the lower lip against the upper teeth until half way through the sound. There is actually a slight vibration of the lower lip then it is let go. With the lips open it sounds like W.
4. Pay attention to tongue position. When I taught ESL I used diagrams of a cross section of the mouth showing the positioning for each sound. The Rs you mention having problems with a more gutteral. The tongue is pulled back closer to the uvula and up. This more extreme position is more difficult for Chinese because the Chinese R positions the tongue midway in the mouth. Since the tongue is a muscle it takes practice and can cause cramping to make this sound right at the begining. I would tell my students Speech is a sport. It takes practice and exercise to move the facial muscles and tongue correctly to form sounds.
5. Ohhhhhhhhh Richard now she will expect neat and clean from you the rest of your life. If she starts sounding depressed it is probably that she now thinks you don't need her.
6. James just take this as an example of our tax dollars at work. I just checked and for the third month CSC does not show they have advanced even one day in processing AOS. Thank you USCIS for your valuable online information.
7. In Kansas there is only one place for names and that is the name you have before getting married. Any name change takes place when you update your SSN and State ID. Not a real official process if you ask me, but that's how it is done here too. 186036 Yes, it is customary for official State marriage certificates to show the names officially used immediately before the ceremony. Then the bride determines whether to "keep" her own name or "take" her husband's name. John Smith does not marry Jane Smith. He marries Jane Jones who takes his name (or not) and becomes Jane Smith (or not) after the marriage. 186070 In TN the marriage license has her maiden name but the marriage cert has whatever name she chooses i.e with her new surrname! 186072 So does that mean there is usually no name change?
8. Is it bad luck to shower on New Years? I don't care what the customs are for New Year. I'll just follow what she says to do as on any other day. 186021 good plan, then if it's wrong you can openly blame her--she will appreciate that oh sooooo much. Trust me on this one! Buwahahahahahahahahaha 186031 Don't worry Trigg I already messed up on New Year. I was at 99 Ranch Market and with the groceries I picked up New Year decorations. I had them up before she got home. Aaaaiiiiii Yyyaaaa Laowai! I had to take half of them down because they are not for home but for making the business prosperous. The check out clerk at the market is now on her list for not telling me. Whew, I lucked out.

10. Yup Roger it looks like Trigg had good advice on this one. The name thing can be quite a hassle. Ping just left her name as it was. No problems. I think of her that way anyway so it didn't seem like a big deal. Now I'm glad we did. Perhaps no change is more common in California. Hispanics & Asians as well as many Gringos leave names as is here.
11. Rather than delete why not close both threads. This is not the only time that the process has caused people to go to excess in their statements. It would be good for members to know how stressful this process can be. I don't take this as ranting but rather issues resulting from the process that we are all exposed to.
12. I did not read the post(s) in question. King with the reputation you have on Candle I can't imagine a vindictive member out for satisfaction could affect it. You have been a great asset to Candle with your explanations and experience that none of us has equaled. While our case went smoothly and I have had no need for legal assistance, I have always found your posts helpful. There has never appeared in those posts the slightest appearance of solicitation. Your professionalism always comes through. Details you supplied have helped many of the members if in nothing more but to understand the process more and thereby reduce the stress of it. I would like to thank you for being a fellow member.
13. YIIIIIIPPPPPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
14. That's a really cool text to speech website. We ought to place it in CFL links 185617 That link isn't working. Fix it fast, I'm burning with curiosity.
15. Alabama accent????? Isn't that a dialect?
16. Our NOA 1 for AOS was 9/28/05 and when I put the number in their website I got the same response that Pete did. We did not apply for Advanced Parole with our AOS app because I was sure we would have the green card before we wanted to return to China. Now we're planning to go back in September and I would like to book tickets now but I guess we better wait to see what happens. Wasn't getting the K visa supposed to be the only gut-wrenching part of THE PROCESS... 185249 Definitely not. We have never been promised a rose garden at any point of the long string of processing we have embarked on. The only thing we can be sure of is there are always thorns around. Good luck on yours. If only there were a semblance of logic to the immigration process. Getting out of the process may be the driving force to finally go for citizenship. I'm just not sure which country or which one of us
17. a learning experience? do you mean like your first case of hemmeroids? Insanity can not be learned it just happens. Best of luck.
18. Is that like saying misery likes company? Looks like we are on the same tour. I hope everything is going well for the two of you. I laughed when I saw your ID with Beware:. I'm safe, I'm protected by a small, fiery, dynamo of a Chinese woman.
19. Thanks! I should know by now not to trust time estimates but this was a bit of a shock.
20. Besides why worry about the P-4 data? Tousands of people already have that info on you and millions more can access it.
21. This morning I received an email from CSC. On the 17th I had been told they transferred her case to CSC. The new email says they received it. It also gave a new processing timeframe. The original receipt notice said 120 to 180 days. Most here seem to run 5 to 7 months from app receipt. The new notice says they are taking 270 to 300 days! I have noticed that for two months the CSC processing date has been stuck on apps from 6/16/05. Are they on vacation or what? Most apps seem to have been running 5 to 7 so what is up with this 10 to 11 months? Application Type: I485 , Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status Current Status: On January 20, 2006, your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status was received here for processing. It is taking between 270 and 300 days for us to process this kind of case. We will mail you a decision as soon as processing is complete. If you have questions or concerns about your application or the case status results listed above, or if you have not received a decision or advice from USCIS within the projected processing time frame*, please contact the National Customer Service Center. National Customer Service Center (800) 375-5283.
22. Congratulations!!! So tell me just between the two of us, who do you have to grease and with what or how much?
23. January 17 must have been a government work day. I just received an email (didn't know email takes so long) saying our case was transferred to the CSC. It was transferred on the 17th. A good day for all of us, Steve. Yippee!!!! We are in the fast lane.
