  1. you might see if she has the entire conversation on her computer, I only had a year on mine but LiYuans had both years on hers, she just saved it as a pdf and sent it to me, worked fine. I tried picking and choosing random conversations throughout our time together but I got RFE'd so I sent the whole works of everything. 800 pages printed double sided of QQ plus 130 e-mail pages double sided and 98 pages double sided and over 600 pictures printed 4 to a page. The RFE was 8 inches thick but got approved. My original application was 2 inches thick, so i have no idea what happened, thought I was covered but I guess the RFE overwhelmed them.
  2. Part one asks for e-mail address, should a person use the e-mail address you use for NVC paperwork or own personal e-mail address? LiYuan put her own personal address, curious if this is ok. Thanks in advance Paul
  3. Mixed nuts are also good as well as almonds and such. Always a hit with LiYuans friends and family
  4. I bought a very nice tea table top in Guilin that I can make a nice tea table out of for my Living room. Will I have trouble with US customs with it? It has been so long since I brought anything back I am not sure the new rules. It has a very nice finish on it but I seem to remember once about it needing to be xrayed to be bug free or treated. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
  5. I just got her case number from NVC with the DS-3032 but they spelled Guilin as Guiling.I also got the bill for the 88 dollar fee in the e-mail as well. This happened faster than I expected as we just got approved on Nov 6th and I never did call for the case number.I am in China until the 21st If I e-mail the DS-5032 back to them should I black out the G and then attach the correct address? Thanks for any advice in advance Paul
  6. Congratulations Randy, well deserved!!!!!! My wife is from Yulin also. In fact I am leaving for China in a few hours, she is in Guilin now
  7. Do the IPad3's all have CIMS card slots in them or does the Wi-FI version have them. I do not know much about IPads but LiYuan wants me to bring one to her when I travel there in November. I am not sure what if they work from here and if they are really any cheaper here compared to there. Thanks for any advice in advance Paul
  8. They is always a way through it, but requires much documentation. Myself I am going CR-1 been divorced from 2 Chinese women and married to my 3rd. We applied a CR-1 visa in April this year and got sent to CSC for review, but in August got a RFE request for more evidence. I sent that in now awaiting a decision. My original application was 2 inches thick of papers and documentation, they didnt believe anything so I sent in over 6 inches thick of more information and chat logs and over 400 more photos. I am 56, she is 33. For some reason USCIS believes she has been divorced but it is her frist marriage. So I addressed that in the RFE. As others have said, more time together is invaluable. I married on March 1st 2011 and went back to see her 3 more times before even filing the application, since I knew I would have problems. I was divorced for 5 years but the RFE called it a recent divorce, go figure!!. I addressed all my red flags letters and notes to USCIS in my application hoping all would be done but got the RFE anyway. Sometimes its just the luck of the draw. The best advice is document everything and as others have said, put yourself in the VO's shoes and think of what you have to do to convince a complete stranger in a few questions and with your application that this is a true relationship. Not always easy to do. Ask lots of questions as there are many people here that have gone through the same thing and can offer some great advice. Good Luck
  9. Can a person print photos on typewriter paper to scan and submit or does a person have to use regular photo paper when submitting pictures for I-130? To me it should not matter but then I suppose they can say it has been altered. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks in advance Paul
  10. Thanks Dan for the advice!! One question tho, they ask for my passport pages with my travels, I sent them all pages in my new passport which only deals with my travels to meet LiYuan, Do I need to scan my old passport which really has nothing to do with this relationship but deals with all my travels since 2001. Hope they do not need them as thats a lot of pages since i added to it twice. Thanks Paul
  11. Thanks for the advice, I guess I am frustrated with the whole request, gave them the kitchen sink, my application was over an inch thick. I sent copies of my passport pages yet they asked for them again. same as evolution of relationship, One question I have, Can I copy things on both sides like e-mails? Single sided pages will take a lot of room and i only have one small envelope to send in more info.
  12. I just got a copy of the RFE they asked for, in it they ask for everything all over again. Which is not a problem but the small envelope they sent will not hold it all but is bar coded for the RFE, I guess I will have to cut the front off and use it on the mail envelope, is this common or has anyone ever had to resubmit eveything all over again for the original application? They even asked for birth certificates of all my children from my first wife who is deceased. Strange as it is almost like all was lost and asking for an original application all over again. Should I include the 1-130 and G325a again? I frontloaded everything so am wondering how they think all this they asked for will fit inside a small number 11 envelope. Thanks in advance Frustrated. Paul
  13. Sounds like they are going back to the ways of 10 years ago when a 3-5 day wait was the fastest service they had plus including pre-booked flight and hotel info with the application.I am glad my visa is good until March of next year but will have to allow more time in planning future visa applications.
  14. I have been watching at visa journey somewhat and see that some are getting through CSC at 3.5 months and some at 4 months. I am doing CR-1 and have NOA-1 of April 30th at CSC with no touches on my application yet. I expect it to take mine the full 5 months
  15. I am curious as I have never used them before and also have never flown Asiana Airlines before but they have some great prices for the end of this month. 1187 RT from MSP to Guilin Thanks in advance for any advice Paul
  16. I have taken the train from Guangzhou toYulin which is not far from Nanning. I am sorry I do not remember the price but it was very reasonable.I did have a sleeper car for the journey which was nice. American airlines has a sale starting Sept 1st and flights must be done by Dec 30th on International travel.Good Luck
  17. I have found that 4-6 weeks is a good window for buying a ticket but lately the prices are still high. Christmas is an expensive time of year and hard to find good deals. leaving on Tuesday's or thursday's seems to find me the best prices as well as buying my tickets on wednesdays seems to be the best time of the week to price a ticket and buy one. I have used flychina.com a lot with good luck and also just checking the prices on the airline websites as well. Also changing up the cities you fly from can help. I have a choice of 3 that i fly from and just keep checking for the best fares. I use elong mostly for my inter China flights. Good Luck and just keep checking.
  18. Interesting comments, I also read the original article and found it to be interesting. LiYuan's brother told me it takes 150,000 rmb to properly court and marry a woman in China, A fair amount of money for many young Chinese men to save. I suspect that a lot of young Chinese men do not have that much cash accumulated yet and with the economic improvements many young women are looking for men with lots more money to provide a better lifestyle for themselves and their family. LiYuan also said she would never marry a Chinese man after her BF.(he was Chinese) cheated on her with another woman and then told her his family would never accept her since she grew up in the countryside around Yulin. I think the economic pressures to suceed are just as much a problem there as it is here, the same pressures that stress marriages on both sides.IMHO
  19. Thanks David, I have read up on the electronic processing and hope to go that route. I have many red flags to overcome but have addressed them all in the EOR as well and have 4 visits already to see LiYuan as well as a lot of other documents. I have some things scanned and ready in pdf files already. I have 270 pages of QQ conversations already but just picked a few to send at various times. From what I have read California is 2-3 months behind Vermont in processing. I just got NOA1 yesterday.
  20. Just got the news my I-130 got sent to California service center. So much for any hope of an interview this year. From what I can see they are 8 months behind on processing.Oh well such is life.
  21. I used AVG for 3 years and worked great until I got hit with a random virus that captured my computer. It took over AVG anti-virus and stopped it from working. I was just listening to my music files but was connected to the internet. It made a bad mess of things. I called my son who is a computer engineer and he recommended getting Kaspersky. It is not free but after 12 hours of trying I was able to recover my computer using Kaspersky recover disc and killed the virus. And saved all my files:) I agree about Norton, nothing but bad luck with them.
  22. I would of brought it but when Scott posted this and I first read it I was leaving for Guilin in 10 hours, no time to get the phone to me, maybe next trip. The weather is cool for sure now in Guilin. Wish would see the sun anyway. But is still great to be back to China

    Teaching in China?

Teaching can be a great experience in China but I also agree with what is written here also, you really have to be aware of what you are getting yourself into as some schools want teachers very bad and will agree to anything to get you here, so always interview in person and be sure what you are getting yourself into. Myself I have a TESOL degree and taught English in Singapore and a couple of weeks in China to help a friend at an English school in ShaoXing. I have a friend from Wales who was promised many things until he got here for the Interview in Shanghai and decided not to take any job offers. But other options can arise also such as tutoring and other things. One teacher I met going to ChengDu said he was offered work writing sub titles for local movies, so you have other options as well.
  24. once she gets to MSP she needs to go to the far right to go through customs. I believe is still number 2 aisle.Number 1 is for flight crew. Good Luck
  25. I have made the MSP-Narita-China and beyond dozens of times. She does not need a visa, she just transfers to other connecting flights which means she goes through a security check again, but she never leaves the terminal and her bags are automatically transferred. Good Luck
