  1. Not only does it mean that you are now in the express lane to hurry up & wait ville, but is also now qualifies you to a Huge Bag of Cheetos, Extended long chats on the phone & internet, as well as a few more grey hair
  2. Congrats !! Now Sit back and enjoy the Susspencful Ride ! Please, Fasten your seatbelts, & place your seats & trays in their upright positions, as you will not want to create too much of mess when she is APPROVED!
  3. Welcome Aboard & DEFINATELY, Save yourself the heartache & go with the K3 I-129 Visa process. You will thank yourself & everyone later. Less Headaches & Pleanty of Cheetoes & Beer Just watch out for that Trigg Character in here. He'll get you mopped slaped way before she ever arrives
  4. ATTN ADMINS & MODS Please add this responce to our Links & Information section. This information will come in handy for any other forth comming that is going through this process and needing the 411 on LAX. ...Thanks Congratulations...I wish I was...where you are! Anyway, does your wife read or speak English? If so there shouldn't be any problems just follow the signs for Immigration and Customs. All the papers she needs should be in her passport. There should be a visa page in there but she can bring her approval papers from the consulate just in case. I envy you!! Best of luck. 159256[/snapback] What Airlines is she comming in on? The reason that I ask is that not too long ago, I had posted a good bit of information in regards to LAX, including a full map of the entire airport. But to give you some idea, here it is basicly in a nut shell: Ok, since I have done this as a routine every timeI have gone to china, I just couldn't resist. If you are flying on Delta and plan on changing over to China Southern, like the rest of them said, you should have no wories other than retrieving your baggage, should you need to. The only time you will go through security is when you leave the terminal area in search for food. (If you need a smoke, walk straight out past security, walk around the escaltors to go out the doors that lead to the pedestrian bridge. There you can light up all that your hearts desire) Just remember, you will have to go through security again in which it apears that its heaviest times are 7pm - 8:30, 9:15 - 10pm, 10:10 - 11:45. If you get caught up in this heard of cattle, you can easily expect a 30 to 40 min wait just to get back into the terminal. If you are looking for some decent airport food and a good quality selection, may I suggest that you check out the TOM BRADLEY INTER NATIONAL TERMINAL (Between Terminal 4 & Terminal 3) You can walk to it using the walk way the encompases the Airport terminals. You name it, it's there in that building. ie, restarunts, international and US Customs information., International Shops, limited Airport Administration and 90% of all international Airline Connections. If you are in need of changing your money over, May I suggest to do it through your bank, as the people at the kiosk on the right just as you walk into Term 5 are not very dependable (They come and go like a fart in church) & then their rates suck Big time. In this term, your choices of selection for food is Pizza, McDonalds, sushi, one or 2 burger joints, and a couple of small convienent store types with very limited selections and on of those liquar & smoke stores. After passing these, you will come to the Gate areas. Normally, Chian southern will depart out of any of the last 3 gates on the right side of the terminal. If you are comming into airport from ouside of the US, here is just the basic rundown & a list of the procedures: After deboarding your plane, be prepared to walk through a long series of mazes that will take you to an area that I like to call, (The dungon Area). The reason for this is because you go down what seems 2 or 3 flights of stair cases, and by the 2nd, you no longer can see the light of day. If you have to visit Mother Nature, I strongly suggest that you go either before getting off the plane or make a mad dash to one of the Restrooms before going down the 2nd set of stairs, because there are not any until you are through the entire process, & the wait can be as much as and hour or more. Once you get to the Customs area, you will first wait to retrieve your luggage, (about 30 min) Get your cart & get to the Carasel as quickly as possible or you will be fighting to see anything as it hits the belt. DO NOT MOVE FROM YOUR SPOT! Like the old saying; You move, you lose After getting your luggage, you will have 2 lines. Pick one. Be sure and have your Pasport out (with your finger in the section of your visa) "The guards there seem to like it when you make it easy for them to check it' Be sure to have your UNOPEND PACKET in hand and be prepared to hand it to them. (I can't remember if they take the X-Rays or not. Hopefully someone here can fill that part in) Also, have your I-94 & other custom forms ready that you filled out on the plane ready. Once past the guards, you will be directed to the X-ray area (if you are one of the lucky ones chosen) After you have passed that area, you will then go through the final phase where you will be required to show your passport, visa, and all other documentation. If all is well, you get the "Welcome Home, or Welcome to America". Upon clearing this stage, you will have to once again, follow the gautlet of mazes that will take you out to the lower level arrivals area. From here, you can either catch a cab, airportt shuttle, etc, or if you have a connecting flight, you will either have to walk around to the terminal that you need to connect to or catch one of the Airport Buses that just goes around the terminal like a merry-go-round, to get tp the desired terminal. Once at your connecting terminal, you will need to go upstairs via Elevator or moving staircase to get to the check in couters. Select your poison & be prepared to wait, get your connection ticket, go through a series of security check points & then onto your gate area. (NOTE: These Security check-points can take for ever, so once inside, STAY INSIDE! If you need to have a smoke, DO IT BEFORE going through security. LAX Cell Phone Waiting Lot To help reduce vehicle traffic congestion in the Central Terminal Area, LAX now has a 24-hour LAX Cell Phone Waiting Lot, where motorists meeting arriving passengers can wait for free until passengers call to say they are ready to be picked up terminal curbside. The 79-space lot is located at 9011 Airport Boulevard, north of the intersection of Airport Boulevard and Arbor Vitae/Westchester Parkway. The lot is located five minutes from the Central Terminal Area and easily accessible from the north and east by motorists using La Tijera, Sepulveda, Manchester and Century Boulevards to access LAX. Vehicles in the LAX Cell Phone Waiting Lot must be attended at all times. No parking will be allowed in or around this new facility. ¡°A number of motorists have asked for convenient waiting areas in close proximity to the airport where they can await a call on their cell phones¡± said Kim Day, executive director of Los Angeles World Airports. ¡°We think these Cell Phone Waiting Lots are a good way to be responsive to L.A.-area residents, while reducing traffic congestion in the Central Terminal Area.¡± http://www.lawa.org/lax/images/Map-CTA_Park02-05.gif

See you all in about a month.
  6. So true, but the way things are becomming moer & more these days, it's kind of nice to know that info as a "Beware" scenario than have it sneek up on you & bite you in the you know where. At least the person is kind of prepared or aware of the possibilities
  7. Subject: Warden message--travel warning Date: Fri, 30 Sep 2005 15:17:41 +0800 U.S. CONSULATE GENERAL GUANGZHOU <<...OLE_Obj...>> This Warden Message is being issued to advise Americans of the potential for violent actions in Xinjiang Autonomous Region on or around October 1, 2005. October marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Xinjiang Autonomous Region. International press reports note that China has told police in Xinjiang to "prepare for danger" ahead of the 50th anniversary. There are no indications that American citizens are specifically targeted. The Public Security Ministry said earlier this month that more than 260 terrorist acts have been committed in Xinjiang in the past two decades. Americans considering travel to the region and those already there should review their plans carefully, remain vigilant with regard to their personal security, and exercise caution. Terrorists do not distinguish between official and civilian targets. Americans in remote areas or border regions where military or police authority is limited or non-existent could also become targets. Americans living or traveling in Xinjiang Autonomous Region are encouraged to register with the U.S. Embassy in Beijing through the State Department's travel registration website, <https://travelregistration.state.gov/>. Americans without Internet access may register directly with the U.S. Embassy by calling (86)(10) 6532-3431 x5344. By registering, American citizens make it easier for the Embassy or Consulate to contact them in case of emergency. U.S. citizens planning to travel to China should consult the Department of State's country-specific Public Announcements, Travel Warnings, Consular Information Sheets <http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/cis/cis_1765.html>, the Worldwide Caution Public Announcement <http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/pa/pa_1161.html> and other information, available at <http://travel.state.gov/>. Up-to-date information on security conditions can also be obtained by calling 1-888-407-4747 in the U.S. and for callers outside the U.S. and Canada a regular toll line at 1-202-501-4444. They had my sign it & then they signed it & placed their seal of approval on it. No Problem. When it came time for the interview, they only asked my SO 1 question: How many times did I come there . Approved Hope this will help you

  10. Well, if you follow what I did, you may not have any problems at all; Here is what all I sent in with the orriginal I129: aprox 4,000 pages of Yahoo, MSN & AIM Chats 4 Months of Phone bills 1 30 min Video Tape of us walking through Down Town Nanning (Making a fool of ourselves) 2 hour Audio tape of our Online chats 3 years of Noterized Taxes Noterized copies of letters from employers, personal close friends of reccomendations, Copies of the past 6 months of check stubs About 200 photos from various trips while I was there the 1st time. All In All, it took 1 1/2 Boxes (Paper Ream Boxes)
  11. Here is a copy of the cerified letters that was sent out in an attempt to get some resolve. (After this letter hit the main stream, our case mirraculessly gain serious momentum & easy acceptance) United States Senator Elizabeth Dole In re the Marriage of: James X XXXXXX, 1234 ANY STREET, ANYWHERE, N.C XXXXX, Petitioner, and Liqiu XXXXXXXXXX #4567 ANY STREET XIXXXXX Zone Nanning, Guangxi, 53002 China Beneficiary ) ) ) ) ) ) ) ) ) Case No.: WACXXXXXXXXXX : GUZXXXXXXXXXX I-129 K1 Visa Dear Senator Dole If you will notice, on the application when it was originally filed it had an my old address on it of when I was living in Winston Salem NC. (With my Line of work, it is some what required that I be flexible to be able to move so that I may head up various contracts and Projects) I have written to CIS & NVC, not to mention I have faxed them as well of the new address change (1710 Hedrick Street Newton NC) I have yet to hear from them and according to Liqiu, they have yet to make this change on her application. So, as you can see in this situation, by their negligence, we are being set up for a guaranteed denial because of the addresses not matching. So you may want to also address this issue as well. On yet another note: I spoke to several people from the State Department Bureau of Consular Affairs today, a Public Affairs rep. She told me that she didn't believe that K-1 visas could take AS LONG AS 6 months to obtain (once the packet arrives in Guangzhou). She quoted "29 days" from the website as if she thought that was the whole time. I explained the average wait times and asked her if they were perceived as a problem or concern by the Bureau. The answer was no. I suggested to her that understaffing at Guangzhou might be the problem. She didn't agree. It seems that some people in the State Department are defensive, but that many are simply unaware of what a scandal Guangzhou is (as you will see in the list I’ve included below, all of which I have personally contacted and basically got the blow off). Others may be turning a blind eye, but I sure some people would be moved if they knew the truth. In my opinion, there is really no justification for separating fiancées or spouses for a year while a file sits in a cabinet untouched for most of that time. The inhumanity of that has to resonate with someone in power, someone for whom it really isn't a big deal to say "Hey, Guangzhou, why so damn slow?" Mrs. Dole, is it possible that you or your offices can assist me in breaking through all of this political B.S. and assist me in Bringing My Future Wife, Liqiu here to NC. If we are unable to achieve this, then it will leave me, like many others have done in the past and many others are beginning to follow, leave & renounce our citizenship of the USA and move all that we have to the counties of where our loved ones live. I know that this may sound crazy, but it is true. Every year, thousands of Americans find themselves with no other choice but to deport themselves from the USA to a distant country, just so that they too can have a happy future with their foreigner loved one. They are willing to sacrifice everything they have ever known, just for a chance of happiness. If this continues, where is this going to leave the USA as a whole, when it finally realizes that it has driven off its very own life blood. I do not know about the others, but I can honestly say, it would break my heart to have to say goodbye to my entire family here. To give up a trade that I enjoy so much, not to mention to have to basically give up everything I have grown to know and love, just so that I can too have a happy life with Liqiu. 12. Hi Alex, Here is what I did and for me, it our case got the attention that it needed. I wrote a certified registard letter to the following: My Congress woman, Our Govoner, our mayer, and sent copies to 3 of the Big TV Staions. In that letter, I submitted copies of everything that I had done so foar, including emails to & from GUZ, NVC etc. No matter what it was, (Chat messages, photos, phone records etc) they all got copies) I explianed my dissapoitment in this entire process and showed them what the Law books showed as to how & what was to be done & showed to them how none of them were doing a damn thing other than collecting a fat health check each month. I also showed they statistcs (From here) where so many americans were beginning to create an exodist from this country and the reason why. (Also from here) FELLOW CFL Brothers & Sisiters: If someone can, locate all of the posts, copies of letters and the various posts from about 6 months ago. We were at that time, talking about sending a letter to Mrs Harty. In those posts, are very important information that he can use to get this pushed along. If you can come up with that, I should be able to help give him a boost. Good Luck Alex
  13. Ok, since I have done this as a routine every timeI have gone to china, I just couldn't resist. As most of the folks that has answered your thread are right, I thought I would add a few things. If you are flying on Delta and plan on changing over to China Southern, like the rest of them said, you should have no wories other than retrieving your baggage, should you need to. The only time you will go through security is whan you leave the terminal area in search for food. Below is a small map of LAX and a few number that you may find helpful. Hope this helps;) http://www.iflylax.com/images/lax.gif Terminal 5 Los Angeles International Airport Terminal 5 serves Aerolitoral, Aeromexico (arrivals), Air France, Air Jamaica, Air Tahiti Nui, China Southern, Delta, Legend Airlines, Omni, Song, Spirit, and Sun Country. It contains gates 50-58. 14. Just spoke to the So & she seems to think that we should be able to do it all ourselves. (But she's not thinking about the 2 houses of Suitcases, 2 reg suitcases, & 2 carry on bags) OH GOD!! Tell me there is a fork truck made in heaven waiting for me. Shes saying that it will cost around 1,000 yuan which isn't bad, just the long layovers between the flights to make sure the dog gets connected. Damn, why couldn't we just feed the damn thing so Red Bull, Then is could fly its own ass here No Seriously, I love the critter, just not whats about to be bestowed upon me
  15. Unfortunately, Neither Delta nor China Southern says that they are unable to assist us based upon where we will be orriginating from. What were some of the names^& addresses of some of those travel agentcies located in china towns? I will try & contact them this week & see what they can do for us. Thanks
  16. I'll have to check into that. Would I get a better price for the tickets to NNG from GUZ if I buy them through the China Southern office there at LAX or Should I do it in GUZ? (The only Problem there is that I am totally lost there at the GUZ airport as I cant read a thing there & very few folks there can speak english. OH YEAH! CONGRATS MARK
  17. Hi everyone, I know that we have covered this topic over & over again, at least once a month. Unfortunately, many of the various resources that has been presented on here, is of little to no use for most of us on the East coast, as it is difficult to get to many of them. OR, the sites listed, are in chinese only and for us that are chinese litterate, well, you get the picture. I've tried elong, with little to no help. Orbitz is deffinately out of the picture as they can not be trusted Expedia just cant seem to get the flights I am wanting at a decent price. I've tried locating a few travel agentcies in the various China towns as some of you have mentioned, but with out knowing them, or have ever dealling with them, I can not help but be a bit skeptic on using them. (No to mention on some of them, I was unable locate telephone Numbers or addresses on them. So, I am turning to my fellow brothers & sisters here, in hopes to be able to, (If not already) try and build a Network of folks and services access to not just help my self, but for others that will soon join us in this segment of this process. My plans are to do the following: Depart from Hickory, NC (HKY) Arrive at Atlanta (ATL) Connection: To LAX, Grab the 11:59pm Flight on China Southern TO GUZ (CAN) Then Onto Nanning (NNG) The Return trip the same but in reverse, but this time, with my SO. So, I will need 1 round trip ticket & One way. From what I am seeing on both Delta & US Air, they are wanting to charge about the same amount for her one way as my round trip (CRAZY) Aprox: Total: $3,000.00 Can anyone assist in getting this Itenerary with in a reasonable Airfare & a simple way to pay for it. (CC is no problem) I am wanting to leave by the 6th of October & for us to return on the 18th of October. Anyone care to give this a fair try. Thanks Oh Yeah, we have tired contacting several Animal transporters to help to assist us with her dog (Just a bit bigger than a Jack Russel Terrier) about 30lbs, and none of them could help us because they do not service Nanning or Guangzhou Areas. Any assistance on this would also be of help. Thanks

  19. Welcome Home, Fellow CFL Brother. Enjoy that sleep as your work will begin just as soon as she discovers the local shopping center, stip malls, & Oh Yeah, THE MALL Be prepared to wash every vegetable that you get from the Market, even if it is in a sealed bag. Just do not tell her that the Dish washer cleans and sanitized everything, or you may find yourself eating your food out of its strainer
  20. They do this once every month and yes it is on a rotating basis. They do have them in Beijing, Hong Kon, Shedzen, Shanghi, & Various others. I get this monthly update because I had contacted my Senator many months ago & insisted of being kept in the loop on anything that pertained to Americans in China. So now, once or twice a month, they forward the information to my email box
