1. .....DIRECTV offers Chinese program package Inexpensive phone cards to China Chinese markets and restaurants Chinese friends in USA Most important: one good loving husband
2. ......David, I am very surprised that your interview was so involved. As is the case with the K-1 interview, it is my understanding that the decision is somewhat pre-determined based on all the paperwork. Perhaps this particular interviewer was just being very conscientious. Our interview back in early February lasted about 10 minutes, and part of that time was spent discussing non AOS related matters. We rereceived the Green Card 3 weeks after the interview. Well congratulations and good luck. You are free from USCIS for the next 21 months. What are you going to do with all that free time??? Ken
3. ...... The waiting period is actually a positive. I believe it strengthens the relationship and help builds a strong foundation. Ken
4. .....] To Pkfops: We had the same situation. Applied for the EAD along with all the AOS stuff. Went through the entire process right up to the Green Card approval. Never heard a word about the EAD. Wasted $175 dollars. We are still waiting for our refund. HA! HA! Ken
5. ............I am glad that so many members picked up on this thread and gave Frank his due. Ken
6. I just like to take a minute to thank one of our moderators Frank, down in Atlanta for being so helpful to me answering some obscure questions over the last several months regarding visa related issues. Frank, day in and day out goes out of his way to help many people on this web site with his expertise. I just though it was appropriate to throw some kudos his way. Ken
7. ....Message for Jason: I would not be too overly concerned with your wife's desire to be around other Chinese people and to eat in Asian restaurants. After all this is her comfort zone. If the shoe was on the other foot you might be doing the same. Try not to over analyze everything, because you will make yourself crazy. My wife is much the same way. But as time goes on I see gradual changes coming about. I just accept the situation for what it is and do not over react to anything. I have never been happier or more fulfilled especially now that the kids are here with us. So my advice to you, is just to go with the flow and realize you are in much better place than say a year ago. Good luck with your move to San Jose. Ken
8. ...Reply to Jim: Eunice is a highly qualified individual helping Chinese people with their Visa paperwork and situations that develop during the process. She helped my wife fill out the necessary forms for K-1 Visa and then aided us getting the children here to USA on K-2 Visas. Read her recent posts and you will get an idea of her background and expertise. I think she is giving some really good tips to those immersed in the Fiancee visa currently. Eunice welcome to CFL and thank you for all the informative input. Ken
9. Thank you Frank. Always a great source of information. Ken
10. Just wondering other than being to travel outside the country and and employment opportunity what does the Green Card represent. Ken
11. Chuck: I believe you received the temporary green card and will have to re apply shortly before the 2 year anniversary of the interview. My wife received her green card approval on 2-3-06. Good luck! Ken
12. You want to consider the social awkwardness she might feel and therefore any embarrassment she might feel at fielding a call in public that she cannot really communicate in. If this bothers her to do this, than you don't want to do it till she feels comfortable. Ask her if she would want to talk in public... A computer is definitely the way to start... and if you get skype on both sides, you can IM and talk free as well... Once we progressed out of email ping pong, we would use IM and translate each others message on the fly... sometimes attaching the translation for each other ; I found that the chinese websites translate chinese to english quite a bit better than any US based one.. but I cannot access the chinese one while in the US. it's very probable you'll encourage a mistranslation and misunderstanding as well... Think twice and ask questions if something does not seem as you expect in a reply... My SO also got a decent used computer for about $150... so they are resourceful to find a deal... 187614 There are many ways to communicate. Just let your instincts take over. First time I went to China for 26 days, neither my wife or I were able to speak eachothers language. We shared the same space 24 hours a day and rarely did we have any problems understanding one another. It was perhaps the most amazing experience of my life all things being considered. Ken
13. It is important to do everything clearly and correctly. However in the end, it becomes a matter of luck how soon the visa process comes to a conclusion. Expect 1 year from the time you submit the paper work until interview. This way there will not be disappointment. Most receive the interview before one year. There is a lot than be accomplished by both parties during the wait. Use the time wisely. Ken
14. I'll go a bit further. Jingwen has two kids, and we filed two separate AOS packages for them. 173651 Thank you Frank, Trigg, and Don! Ken 173705 If I said it may or may not be so. If Frank said--you can put it in the bank! 173708 Frank is always quite helpful to one and all. Ken

16. Can I file AQS paperwork jointly for the two children? Or must it be done separately for each child? Ken
17. Ying's two children arrived on Thanksgiving Day. So far everything is going well for all of us. My question is how soon do I need to file AOS? Also, do I fill out the same documents as previously done for Ying(K-1). Any input would be appreciated. Also we were denied in our application for Social Security cards. They said we needed to file some forms with Immigration. ????????? Ken
18. The first time I went to China to be with my future wife we spoke very little of eachother's language. Yet, we had very minimal difficulty communicating. It was very challenging but ultimately successful. The spoken word is very important, but actions speak louder than words! Ken
19. [.....I think this is a very interesting topic which can be viewed from several different perspectives. Sending money to a SO in China is not an unusual occurence. This is considered acceptable behavior during the courtship, because long distance relationships can be so fragile. It is viewed as a sign of commitment by the man. I did this because I wanted my spouse to have a better quality of life. We never really discussed this topic at all .Actions speak louder than words. My wife had a good job in China before coming to the US. Like most over there her salary was not extraordinary, but enough to pay bills and help support her 2 children. Fortunately I could afford to help her and I WANTED to.It was a simple as that. During my time in China, I paid for all our activity and expenses, but it was never suggested that I give other family members money. The idea of a dowry was never mentioned. In fact on the Chinese New Year I received some lucky money from her father. It made me feel like part of the family right then and there. Over the last 2 years I have spent a good portion of money on three trips to China, visa and AOS expenses, and sending monthly expenditures to my wife in China. I never looked upon this as an inconvenience or a hardship. I found it very pleasureable to be able to make an inpact on her life. I feel the same way now that she has been here in the US for almost 9 months. Love does not have financial boundaries. Mine is yours and yours is mine is probably the appropriate mindset to have otherwise selfish behavior perpetuates. The most valuable commodity within a relationship is love and NOT money. If money is the number one concern by either the husband or wife, the relationship is doomed for failure. Good luck to all. Ken
20. There have been a few cases recently to get Green Card without interview. Could this become the norm and not the exception?
21. yup, it has happenned twice to CFL members that I know of. They did everything the same as everyone else and, for whatever unkniown reason, they got a letter saying they were aproved and the green card came later in the mail. One was just last week!! 166467 I also heard about such a situation. We all should be that lucky. Ken
