  1. Both countries offer so many diverse options!
  2. Would it not be more politically correct to say that are many positives to living in the US just as there are in China? Ken
  3. My wife misses the accessibility of inexpensive public transportation to go to work, shop, go to restaurants, and visit friends as she did in Guangzhou. Also she misses her friends and family and the big mahjong games. Ken
  4. i am really not sure what you mean, Mike this sounds like an episode of seinfeld. when all george wants is to date that black chick that doesnt speak english and kramer sells the old mans record collection. Bill: You just don't get it!! Having a communication barrier makes the relationship bond even stronger! Ken
  5. Izus: My wife knew maybe a few words of English when we first connected. This was only a minor inconvenience for us. Three plus months later we were meeting in Guangzhou. The rest is history! We have been married and living in the US for over 2 years now. Also the 2 children are here. All of us are very happy. Meeting my wife is the single most important event of my life. Izus, a true romantic believes anything is possible. The language of love is universal. Ken
  6. April 4th my wife and I will be celebrating our 2nd anniversary. She arrived in the US in March 2005. Time seems to go so quickly. The visa issues, AOS, and all the K-1 drama are just distant memories. Fortunately, we cleared those hurdles without any difficulties. Now the focus is on raising 2 children, schools, jobs, a house, family activity, and day to day situations that come up. All the good stuff! Everything has worked out quite nicely. I guess it has been like putting a big puzzle together. Best wishes to all the CFL brothers and sisters. Ken
  7. Our daughter is a straight A student in the 11th grade here in south Florida. Does anyone know where I can investigate scholarship opportunities that might be for newly arrived immigrant children? Any insight would be appreciated. Ken
  8. I have a background in healthy lifestyle. I have been a srtrict vegan for 30 years and until recently ate nothing but organically grown foods for most of that time. Fortunately I was able to afford the additional expense. Without a doubt, you are what you eat. The chemicals used in growing and processing our foods are toxic no matter how you spin it. Some people can handle the poison better than others. For me living this way has made sense and for several years I have reaped the dividends of this mode of diet. When it comes to health and quality of life, it depends on your priorities. Ken
  9. Our 12 year old son is in the 7th grade and our 18 year old daughter is in the 11th grade enrolled in highly rated Jupiter Public School System. They seem to be progressing quickly and adapting well to their language challenges. December will make one year they have been in school here. Last week our daughter received a report card of 6 A's and 1 B. Wow! I was so proud of her. Unfortunately, our son has not been focused as much on his studies and the recent report card reflected this. Also, last week he was involved in an altercation in the lunchroom with 3 boys. Although our son is small and thin for his age, he is well skilled in Gung Fu and not afraid to defend himself when necessary. Along with one of the other boys he was suspended for 3 days. I do not advocate fighting but was glad he stood up to the boys. . Ken
  10. My opinion: Allow your wife to spend the next 3 months in China spending quality time with her Dad. Then move forward with plans to bring her here within the 6 month window, Ken
  11. Scott: You were right on the money. In today's mail was the letter indicating green card approval for our daughter. As an extra added bonus there were additional letters with the actual green cards enclosed for both son and daughter. So we have reason to celebrate in our family. Everything we sought out to accomplish over the past two half years regarding K-1, K-2 visas and AOS is now complete. It is very gratifying to me personally because it took so much of my time and effort, and yes money. It was like putting a big puzzle together. Time to relax, enjoy, and continue moving forward! Ken
  12. Nine months after arriving from China, our 12 year old son received notification today of green card approval. Our 18 year old daughter who arrived on the same date did not receive any letter indicating the same. Just wondering if she will need an interview for the approval based on her age? Or is the letter just a little late in delivery. Any way all the visa stuff is coming to a conclusion. K-1, K-2, AOS, Green Card, etc... It has been a long and involved journey. It has been 3 years since I first crossed paths with my wife. So much has happened in that period of time. Having a wife and 2 children has really changed my life in so many positive ways. Best wishes to all! Ken
  13. ............I echo Charles thought. Would it be appropriate to ask her the same question? Afterall this is a two way street. Dennis, there have been more than a few disasters here. Everybody needs to do their homework. Ken
  14. The Chinese and Americans have different perspectives on finances within the marriage. What has been your experience with your SO? Ken
  15. ...........Mike: Good luck with the interview. The fun is about ready to start. Ken
  16. ................ Bill: Chinese people, Chinese markets, Chinese restaurants, Chinese television, Phone cards for calling China. a clean living environment, and lots of love and understanding should get you pointed in the right direction. Ken
  17. A close relative from China would like to visit our family here in the US on a tourist visa. I have prepared a letter of invitation with all the pertinent information. I also have a set of photos with my family and this relative that were taken over in China during my 3 visits for proof of relationship. My question is, do I need to fill out another Affadavit of Support for this individual to submit with their paperwork? Ken
  18. .............Bill: Good luck with the interview. Get ready for her arrival. Ken
  19. Bill: Do you love your money or your SO?
  20. . The prenupt I was considering protects me somewhat. It also shows her how much I am committed to her and her family. ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
  21. you forgot to add: THIS IS MY OPINION 232690[/snapback] David: Let me add this is only my humble opinion and not based on facts. Thanks for covering my back. Ken
  22. ................Why would anyone who claims to be in love insist on a prenup? Whether we are rich or poor or somewhere in between, it sends out the same message. I DO NOT TRUST YOU! KEN
  23. ...........My personal opinion on prenuptial agreements, they are a disrespect to your SO. Why get married if you are worried about this. Maybe it is better to wait until you feel more trust. Ken
  24. Our 2 children have adapted very well to US schooling. However, all school systems are different and that could be the determining factor. Here in Jupiter there are very strong ESL programs within the curriculum. That is a major factor. Based on the description of your son, he should fare quite well. Ken
  25. Most men have one thing on their mind. (comment based on my opinion and not fact).............
