1. I cannot judge what is the best path. We elected to do the whole thing ourselves from I-129F to P4. The primary reason for doing this was that both of us would know exactly what was on the forms, why it was on the forms. At each step in the process I would review the information required, send her a email about data required, we would review, clarifly data to be gathered and gathered data via email and phone. Then, I would create the draft forms in pdf, print and mail to her. We would then review line by line over the phone. I would then create the final draft and mail to her for a final review. This was pretty straight forward for the I-129F and G325A, I was doing all the form submitting. We did the same for P3/P4 pdf forms that we had to submit, but I would mail her a annoated copy as guide to what to do, plus the forms to be completed and submitted The variation for the P3/P4 handwritten forms is that I mailed her semi-completed versions of the handwritten forms, GIV, GNI, etc. After she had any data required, we worked togther line by line to complete the final forms. This worked very well for us, If your SO has computer and printer at home, this process could be streamlined. Ying went to internet cafe for email. Again the benefit - The information was accurate, we both knew what was on the forms and why, the information was consistent ( I have lost count of how many times we were asked same information where/when worked/lived , etc No one will take better care of you than yourself. Delegating the work of a task does delegate the responsibility for that task being acceptably completed There is alot of waiting time in this process, this helped fill some of it
2. Congratulations !!!! Gear up for your life together , it will be great Best wishes for the both of you
3. I knew the no interview apporval was possible, that would be great! I am specifically asking if you got any notice form CSC that case was recieved prior to getting a RFE or approval or ? The last thing we got was notice from MSC that case was being transferred, since then nothing at all. So I am wondering has CSC got the case, or ?? Thanks !!!
4. Ying got notice from MSC that her I-485 was transfered to CSC on Feb 24. For those of you you have been transfered to CSC, what is you experience on getting a NOA or other communication from CSC ? We are used to waiting, but still anxious - wouldn't be the first time our friends "lost" something
5. Congrats !!!!! The really good part begins !!!
6. Congratulations to both of you !!! Thanks for sharing and advice!!
7. Great News, you are almost the end and a new beginning !!!
8. Ying's now in Beijing, looking for a flight to Hangzhou. She has returned to China to vist her family and buy more stuff for her business. We awoke at obscene hour to catch a connecting flight to Chicago. She loved the long wait at Chicago, able to talk in Mandarin, etc. Where that bag of Cheetos ???? Our Beijing cat seems to be adjusting, perhaps I need lessons??
9. I will post again, just because the original post had no detail and was leading ?? Some good comments posted. 50% of my vists were personal - 50% were enabled by my work. The details were obvious in the documention we submitted
10. I worried about the same thing, there seem to be so many variations of the "process" . Ying paid the fee at CITIC bank near her home in BJ. At the Tongren hosptial near Luthansa Center, they put the fee recept in the packet. Ying did note that at Tongren hosptial the folks seemed to be helpful to those that did not have everything quite right. ( if you spent much time in China, you know, this is not always the norm )
11. I mailed all the P3 stuff to Ying and we reviewed over phone before she submitted it. The same for P4, she was having medical in Beijing before I arrived. I was joining her just before the interview in GUZ, but wanted her to have everything in case there was problem with my arrival. The interview stuff I hand carried was a backup copy
12. I will bite !! Why would the VO be interested in who bought the tickets ?
13. The online system did not even recognize Ying's cases numbers until the day after her biometrics.
14. As John stated, the 70 lb per bag on international flights became history back in September. The limits and other rules are available on carriers websites. Here is Delta's international rules, see page 67 Delta rules intl
15. Bring a cat with you !!! Ying's cat came with us in one of those softsided carriers that looks like luggage. In Chicago, the sniffer dog, was real interested in our bags. I mentioned to the officer that there was a cat in the bag - rover was quickly scooped up - they went looking for greener, perhaps safer pastures !
16. Then how can you explain the fact that there are thousands and thousands of Chinese tourists coming to America everyday? They all had to get their visas somehow. 187876 Predominetly tour groups. The group leader holds all of the passports. If someone bolts, they are in the US without a passport or proof that they entered legally. Not a good position to be in. If someone just wants to come and see the sights and then go back home, no problem. They get their passport back. 187913 Before Ying met me, she went on a tour to Thailand and Malaysia - her passport was in possesion of tour guide prior to departing China and not returned until safely back in China. I have not been able to find much data on visa approvals/rejections - but I did find one GAO report from 2003. 40 percent of all visa requests, from China to USA are denied.
17. Ying's recent biometric notice had AOS and EAD combined. Is this different than past practice ?? imply something really good is going to happen ??
18. In Beijing you should be able to hire a taxi for most of the day for 300-400 RMB. The Mutainyu section ot the wall is farther away than Badaling, but much less crowded, more scenic
19. Good to hear things are going so quickly !!! Wish we had a chance for DORA, married just 2 weeks after you, still waiting for a biometrics date.
20. We were married in Vegas over Thanksgiving. It was a great time, some of my family members were able to attend. Vegas is usually a cheap/ easy destination from most places. We picked a hotel chapel, it was really painless and stressfree. This is good place to look for chapels LVCA weddings Here is place for license information Clark County License We downloaded the license applications, one for me and one for her, filled in the PDF's, printed and took with us. Force of habit I guess It was a great time. We got the certified copy of certificate in 3 weeks. It was filed on Dec 6th, sent to us on December 7
21. The police certificate can only be obtained from the place of his household registry or hukou, it will cover all places he has lived in China
