  1. Kinda makes ya wonder if that's the new "Question of the Month"? Yea, I caught that too... I remember JimGlot talking about a question of the day at the consulate.. blue slips for financials throughout they day... It seems that maybe some new training or turnover has occur at the consulate. It's feedback like this that shows us that 'somethings' different... The question could be just to gauge a response. Maybe the new K1 question for now. It's probably not surprising a given VO will have a set of questions they like to use, that of course can change as VO's change. A common thread might be questions to discern a understanding of the process. Ying was asked why I did not file I-129F earlier than I did. (We had a long run-up to the I-129F) She knew the correct answer - my divorce was not final, so I could not file I-129F
  2. The sealed broen envelope that is opened at POE is provided to the applicant when the visa is picked up. It is in the package with passort that is picked up at the Post Office
  3. Congrats See I told you not too worry about the time !!!
  4. Ying was the last K1 on our day, she did not come down until sometime after 12 pm. Had me wondering everyone else were down much earlier. Just relax as best you can - do not think about what is happening with other folks.
  5. Congrats !!!! Your test has just begun !!!!!
  6. Excellent post and info. We provided some scanned photos to support our proof of relationship, including background info that support the date. Don't know if it made a difference. Strange that there is no mention of pictures.
  7. I will second David and Sanshanghai comments. I don't know why you would get anything notarized, excluding the required Chinese notarial office stuff. We never provided tertiary evidence - none !!! We had scanned images of my visas and entry/exit stamps and boarding passes. A few scanned images of snail mail and emails and scanned email/phone logs. We had the originals for interview, but no interest. The focus of evidence we provided with applications was to prove genuine relationship. She wore the engagement ring to the interview
  8. But consider that, at your company, many applications are turned down with no interview. Then consider that GUZ MUST interview every applicant. How much time would YOUR company spend if it knew it had to interview every single applicant, and how much time would it spend with the ones that it knew in advance would not be approved? If we had to interview everyone , of course we would spend less time. The point is we are making big decisons on limited information. Often interviewers will have very different thoughts on a candidates. We are making decisons on the information and time available. If the GUZ interviews are being pre-determined; when, where and who is doing that work ?
  9. I tend to agree with you Rosyanne. USCONGUZ says that isn't true. If that is the truth then they are making decisions that seriously affect people's lives on scant evidence and gut reactions. Right. I recall that discussion. It may be the 'official' line but it doesn't hold water. Twenty minute interviews (like Jim Julian's SO had) that end in a pink slip, tend to fly in the face of pre-determination of interview outcomes. However, as has been noted numerous times, multiple people see the case file before the VO that conducts the interview sees it. They then have the benefit of any previous notes to the file, positive or negative. I have long wondered about the pre-decison question, but leaning towards no pre-decision. Why - I compare the process to how my company hires new college graduates. First consider that we process far fewer folks than GUZ. Potential new hires are screened on-campus with a application and interview ( This is the Service Center and NVC). If they pass this gate they are invited for a on-site visit. ( This is GUZ) Three 1 hour hour interviews are used to make a offer/no-offer decision. There is no appeal or second chance. Due to low volume we have luxury of 3 hour interview time. We use a stuctured process that we think yields a good result for us. The decisons we make have a influence these folks lives. I think the decison is made at the time of interview. This thought is shaped by the decisions I have made on peoples future
  10. Interesting idea, but I did not think mis-mailing was/is a problem. If everyone starts sending in labels, it could open avenue for a new error - the provided label ends up on the wrong package.
  11. Hang in there Ron. Waiting for NOA2 is the worst, because you know so little. Can't add much else because of the changes since my time in the well - Stay Strong !!
  12. Amen !!! In the early days of process, I just hoped that no terrible delay would appear, we progessed on a "normal" schedule, then out of the blue, Ying got a no interview approval. I still remember the day to day worry that something bad would happen
  13. I predict a early Sept P4. We had a Labor Day P4. Your interview is earlier than ours was, remember to get out of GUZ before the Trade Fair starts
  14. We have gone smoothly so far, but I can still vividly remember - everyday wishing/hoping/praying that no problem or delay would appear - the normal waiting was enough stress.
  15. I don't usallly do this - I think asking/giving personal advice on internet is just not a good idea - But -I will second Jim's advice and expand on Joanne's thought - you have no friends in business - if you think you do - watch out. Almost last comment - a VP should not be solicting professional advice from a internet board. Last comment - I made adjustments to my professional life to insure that I would be home most nights after a 8-10 hour work day, that I would not be traveling on short notice - away from home 50+% of the time. I did it for us, not just her !! You need to decide what is best for you and your family - we cannot do that. Good luck and Best Wishes
  16. Great news Phil !!! Glad to see you finally got it !!
  17. Thomas, congrats on the wonderful news !!!
  18. We made only the signatures in blue ink, for same reason. Did it on every form we filed that required a signature
  19. So glad to see you are almost at the finish line - Best of Luck !!!!
  20. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but in a word, no. As frustrating as it is, the petitioner is not allowed. 226024[/snapback] You are not allowed to participate. I think you can find some posts on the questions you ask. The process is not comfortable, friendly or easy Hang in there !!!
  21. Randy, Hope everything works out in your favor !!!!
  22. I have to very strongly agree, sounds very much like our story. We talked on phone every day, about twice a day for over 2 years, the emails tapered off after the first 9-12 months or so. Only acess was internet cafe. Sent cards and letters. I went to China 4 or more times a year, spent every second I could with her Beyond waiting to file, the hardest wait was the 100 or so days for NOA2, it just seemed to flow after that.
