I can only help with the taxes.... Yes, the copies you printed out and the actual w-2's are all you need. I did the same thing.

Print the full tax return from Turbo tax, then you will need to sign it. Be sure to date it the same date as your e-file or at least somewhere close to that date.

 

It might look a bit strange to have your 2004 tax return dated 11/6/2006.

Call the IRS and request Tax Transcripts they are free of charge, they are acceptable in place of copies of tax returns. And take a week or so to get them.

The time might be a bit short to get them before leaving for HK with an interview date of 11/6.

If you want transcripts quickly, you can get them in a day turnaround, but you'll pay for it...

I ordered transcripts on a Tuesday, and they were in my mail box on Saturday. The agent at the IRS that I spoke with was very nice, and printed them out as we spoke and put the in the mail the following day. I live in NY and the IRS office is in OH so that may explain the fast mail time.

 

It may be too short of a time to order then in your case though.

I should clarify: When I said a day turnaround, I meant by email you can get your transcripts.. sometimes the same day... but it's costly.

DavidZ, I'm wondering if you have data (average) for the time it takes for NVC shipments to be accepted at the US Post in HK. (BTW, is it an embassy or consulate or interest section we have in HK?)

 

I want to compare that with GUZ. Will submit that to my Congressman the next time I write to him.

I should clarify: When I said a day turnaround, I meant by email you can get your transcripts.. sometimes the same day... but it's costly.

You can call the IRS and they will FAX them to you as they are speaking on the phone for free. Although, first they will make you read the Cover Letter back to them to verify you are at the FAX machine. I just did this a few weeks ago. The guy was real nice but become much more helpful after I told him why I needed them and that's when he 'remembered' the FAX method. I would call them, sweet as pie, and ask them to FAX them to you. You should have them by tomorrow. Good luck!

07/01/06 Received IMBRA RFE (yes I got a duplicate one to)

07/24/06 USCIS Received my response

08/01/06 Received NOA2

08/15/06 Received letter from NVC, petition goes to post (HK) within a week.

08/22/06 P3 out from HK consulate SO didn't check Mail for almost three weeks

09/30/06 P3 sent to HK consulate

So HK is just like Japan or UK or Germany, i.e. they immediately receive shipments from NVC--no delays like those encountered at GUZ. This is really frustrating! I wish more of you would write to your Congressman/woman and ask them to look into why GUZ is so slow to receive shipment of visa petitions from NVC when everywhere else it's so quick--including HK!

I need to add something about an oddity in the K-3 legislation.

 

The K-3 interview will normally be held in the "county" where the marriage took place. If you went to VN and married, you'd have your interview is Saigon/HoChiMin City, or whatever it is called. Same with Singapore - get married there and that's where the interview is for the K-3.

 

The K-3 interview can be requested in the beneficiary's home country, but I can't imagine anyone who would choose GUZ over any other consulate except maybe Mumbai. The interview consulate can also be changed to the home country if returning to the country of marriage is a problem.

 

Since it's not all that difficult for mainlanders to go to HK these days, I still get back to my main point. If you're gonna marry a mainlander, do it in HK.

I Agree, and yes it's a 3 week wait.
