Everyone should get married in Hong Kong

Recommended Posts

Wasn't there someone on here a while back who got married in Thailand, and went through the interview there even though his wife was Chinese?

I think the deal was Jason that you used to be able to go to Thailand on vacation with your SO get married and do a DCF. I am fairly sure they slammed the door shut on that option.

Well it must be the easiest ever written on here....here is how it unfolded......hardley any sleep last night as we thought my being a student would be a problem and she thought she would anwere the questions wrong. We arrived at the Hong Kong consulate today at 1 30 am USA eastern time. Around 1:45 we made it into the immigration room. About 2 or 2 15 the pre-interviewer called us up and asked for our information, emails, finacial records, and any other things we wanted to be factored into the decision so we gave them letters and cards recieved from family members after we were married and such. She then left for 1 minutes to review our contents, then she came back and lady was great we laughed and she asked my wife some questions and then asked me some questions mainly- how did you meet, whats your job, where is your wife from, where is your husband from, what language do you communicate it, and as we were together she could see how much we loved eachother and was very pleased tha I had been there with my wife.....after about 30 minutes she came back and told us that the Consuler had looked over our material and there was no need for a second interview and that our visa could be picked up the next day at the HK post office.........the thing is I saw the Consuler who approved us and she glanced at it for less then a minute so I think the people doing the pre interview if they want can be purswasive in getting the visa passed ..... i think its harder if the wife goes to the interview alone....by the 2 of us being together they got a chance to see how we interacted together. Anyway thank god thats over bring on the AOS challenges at least were together. See you stateside September 26th oh and look for my post " Stranger in my bed" in the our stories directory. Good luck everyone else.

:toot::redblob::clapping:CONGRATULATIONS! :greenblob::clapping::toot:

good luck to you both....

I've never been real clear about your process, but it's only because I lack the required number of brain cells to process information. I believe that you once said that before you married in Hong Kong that your Finacee was a resident in a small town in mainland China.

One day, you both took a trip to Hong Kong. Neither of you were residents there, and neither of you indicated that you were residents of Hong Kong on any of your documentation.

Then, you both said to each other one day in Hong Kong....Heck, here we are, let's go get married. So, with nothing else to do, you got married there in Hong Kong.

...Is this an accurate synopsis?>

we intended to get married and knew that with i think 4 days notice you could get married and a k3 is processed in the country you get married in and Hong Kong is seperate enough that if u get married here you will be processed here instead of GZ and here is very fast because alot of people arnt intrested in immigrating to the U.S. thus short lines and fast response time. My wife is from and has only come to Hong Kong 2 times for the process once for medical exam and 2nd for interview.

1. What is your wife's city of residence?

2. What city did you list as being her residence on your and her forms?

3. How long has she lived there?

4. Is her city of residence in Mainland China?

5. If she is a resident of Mainland China, how long were you required to be in Hong Kong before you married?

6. What information and records were required for each of you to marry in Hong Kong?

Thanks for clarifying these questions, and again, good luck and happiness to you both...

Thanks for the report Adam.

I think GZ could save themselves a lot of time and resources by conducting the interview with both parties. Like you said they could see how they interact together. This would eliminate the need for so many denials.
