We use it too. My wife loves it. If your wife uses the phone a lot, this is a very good service as you have unlimited minutes for the monthly fee. And the free calls from China are a great bonus. Chalk up another happy ITalkBB user. Did the year package and got 2 months free. Unlimited calling to anywhere in the us, most of Europe and cell and land lines in China. Plus, callers in China have access to 3 US numbers - home, work and cell if you want, and only pay for a local call! Plus conference calling, call waiting and all the other crap thrown in. I've got cable modem internet and phone quality has never been a problem. Can't beat it with a stick!!

Papa Bear: My lao po found CA practice tests on line (in Chinese) and studied them and got 100% on the written test (which she also was able to take in Chinese). The only problem is that she was just good at memorizing the correct answer to the questions she practiced. Now that she is starting to practice driving, I'm finding out that there are a lot of driving rules that she is totally unaware of (like crossing a solid white line). I take her out to practice driving once a week and as soon as she breaks one of the rules of the road, her lesson is over for that day. Just a word of caution - if she found the questions ahead of time and studied them and passed, if does not necessarily mean she knows most of the rules of the road!! Good luck!!

Well Trigg, we are proud of you for having survived the event! Oh yeah, kudos to Mop Ling!! Thanks for the warning, but being a dozen states away, I feel relatively safe! My lao po cheated and found copies of the test in Chinese and was able to take it in Chinese. Her knowledge of traffic laws are so so but she has a good memory and got 100 on the written test!!(something that I have never done!!) We go out for practice drives in deserted parking lots on Sundays (for parking skils) and residential areas with very little traffic. After a half hour of driving she has sweat dripping down her face!! It's also hair raising for me because she is not currently on my insurance and I fear for the life of my Volvo!!

Thanks guys. Yes, I know they're not for me!!! We are in the midst of trying to create a little lobster and her friend gave her these saying they would help. I never did find out exactly what they are, more than keeping her cycles regular. I do have a feeling that they skewed one of her blood tests off the scale. She has stopped taking them and we will do her blood tests again soon to get an unmedicated evaluation. Don't you love China where you don't need doctor's prescriptions to get medicine?!? On the other hand, she has a thyroid problem and needs to take a thyroid pill daily. With my insurance I can get 30 pills for $10 - without insurance they are $37 for 30 pills. Her sister sent her 4 bottles with 100 pills in each bottle. Total cost in China for a bottle of 100 pills? 6 yuan !!!

If he really has a wife then the USCIS and the district attorney should get involved. She should be able to find a temporary shelter to stay in the USA while she pursues squeezing the nuts off this idiot! The 134 promises support for a number of years and she deserves to get it!

Nice link Carl I's funny how in the US you are presumed innocent until proven guilty, but we treat possible visitors to the US as guilty until proven innocent. "Every alien shall be presumed to be an immigrant until he establishes to the satisfaction of the consular officer, at the time of application for admission, that he is entitled to a nonimmigrant status..." or in other words: "Sure, you can apply to come and visit the wonderful US of A. As long as you know and accept the fact that we will assume you have criminal intentions unless you can prove it to us that your case is the exception." That's gotta leave a bad taste in your mouth!!!

It's amazing how many times the local SSA office screws up!! I would go to a different SS office and ask to talk to a supervisor. Explain that she came here on a fiance visa and that there is a typo in her records. If those people are also brain dead, go to a 3rd office and ask to see that supervisor until you find someone smart enough to realize that it is just a typo and is able to correct it. Good luck!!

It's kinda like closing the barn door after all of the aminals have run off. They are giving a hard time to the people who come here legally but still have no idea of what to do with the 10+ million who willingly and knowingly broke the law to come to the USA. We do need a law that will protect perverts from being part of the immigration process to prevent future Jany's, but they could have done that as part of the months long background check process. Our current administration has consistently made govt more top heavy with more departments and bosses while the US citizen gets more burdened by complicated regulations and stacks of paperwork that is confusing and often misleading. Just my 2 yuan.

The welcome letter is a good sign!!! I'd say you are approaching the 21 month reprieve from having to deal with our swell govt!!! Glad to hear that it was just one employee who had no idea of what was going on versus having a real problem with your case!! FYI, we got our welcome letter about a week AFTER Amy got her green card

Best advise yet............Prove beyond a shadow of a doubt........Now if I can just figure out a way to get my boss to understand this..........lol.......Any suggestions? Tell him it's a matter of the heart and the love of your life. If he doesn't understand this, then there are other bosses out there . . . (I realize this is easier said than done, but I have walked away from more than one job as a matter of principle!) Haven't heard of that before but it wouldn't surprize me if they did a security check ON their security check! It does sound like they gave up on the old one and started over. It is probably good news. At least something happened as opposed to letting you sit there for another year. I'm still amazed that our govt can call it a security check. Dum Dum #1 "Gee, we better check this name to see if it comes up as a threat to society". Dum Dum #2 "Put it in the box over here and I might get to it in the next several months."

This is it in a nutshell. The entire govt is suffering from severe HUTAS (head up the a$$ syndrome) The inequities from one dept to another are enormous. The immigration process from some countries takes 3 months, some countries take 3 years. Some cities make you wait 3 months for a green card, in others you wait 2 years. The VO can act on a gut feeling with no evidence or other rhyme or reason, with no fear of recourse for bad judgement when he didn't even have to bother to look at your evidence. He has the power of GOD and there is not a damn thing you can do about it. Is this a totally assinine way to run the govt? Yes. Will they do anything about it? Sure, right after pigs learn to fly. We are trying to show the world how good democracy is (while we shove it down the throat of a handful of countries) when right here at home, it takes 3 months and several courts to be able to "count" the vote for president. Have we done anything to standardize the voting process to be assured that the president is who appears to have won really did win. No. We'll take care of that minor detail right after pigs grow wings. (yes, this is a rant but you can't tell me I've said anything false!!!)

747: I have been quietly watching this sickening drama unfold with little to add other than what has been said already by some knowledgable CFL people. If you do have the option to go to China to live for 6 or 12 months, I think you should. Live together with your SO and even have a ceremonial (not official) marriage in China for her family while you wait to be sure that the K1 visa is proclaimed officially dead by the US govt. THEN, when it's time to file the K3 visa and you can show that you have lived together for several months and have been married for x months, they will be hard pressed to deny your visa for lack of a relationship!!!!! Stick it to them if you have to and you can!!! It's total bull$hit that they barely care about 10+ million immigrants that are already here yet they scrutinize the hell out of one couple that have provided stacks of paperwork and forms, background checks, medical checks, biometric checks and fees up the wazoo! I'm glad to hear that you are committed to this relationship and have the strength and determination to make it work!! That sounds about right. We're gonna protect our country from terrorists but we can't even process a set of fingerprints from someone who gave them voluntarily at a US government facility. I sure feel safe!!!! And then to cover their butt by trying to make you do an end around the original problem which comes down to resubmitting things they they should still have from the first time around. Sounds like THEY certainly have their act together!!!! yeah, that sounds about right!!!

CONGRATS on the easy one! It really makes you wonder why they require so many things of you for the interview and then some people don't even get to present their things to the VO, even if they wanted to!! Makes no sense at all, but then again, this is the U. S. Govt!!!

Some of the crap they come up with is unbelievable!! After 2 1/2 years they want you to verify the validity of your marriage?!? WTF!!! The good news is that you can easily provide the overcome evidence but the whole situation is just stupid!!

Go for it Stats!!! Sometimes these beaurocrats have earned themselves a nice swift kick in the ass! Your first letter was excellent but it was only sent to one congressman who chose to blow it off. I would resend the exact same letter to your congressman again and CC copies of it to your senators and every single other person in their chain of command all the way up to the head yahoo in charge (George). One jerk in the chain of command can throw your case in his round file, but when he knows that his boss also got a copy of it, someone somewhere down the line will have to do something sooner or later!! A friend of ours got his wife here and it was marriage #7 for him, so too many marriages is not the problem. You need to find out exactly what was on the denial slip to know what your next move is. The majority of denials were overcome without additional incident - I think they throw out denials on close cases just to see if you are willing to follow through and jump over one more obsticle. Glad you asked that question. I read the February 23rd date on Friday and thought WTF.... Hope it's true that this is not as omenous as it looked at first. Robert: When we went through the NOA1 process, the USCIS progressed 23 days, then 6 days, then LOST 30 some days, then gained 14 days, then gained about 40 days. When we got the NOA2 they said they were working on cases from more than a month before ours. Bottom line is start to take action (contact your congressperson) when they are 2 weeks behind the estimated processing time quoted to you on your NOA1.
