1. I would stop worrying about her interview and start worrying about learning how to cook Chinese food the Chinese way. You may be great at American food but if your sweetie is like mine, she won't eat American food most of the time. So, what will it take to add a second kitchen to your house??? Chef: Don't read the next line!! (notice how I gave him a problem to divert his attention from the real problem at hand !!)
2. Ron, didn't you get the memo? 240663 Lee, I think they took me off their mailing list, so I'll just fiddle away while Rome burns. I'm hoping that Pushbrk is right about the dates not meaning anything. Joke: Vo officer to So: "Do you think your fiance' is a little old?" So: "Well, he was a young man when he applied for the visa." 240707 Good one, Ron. I know it is hard to keep your humor in the situation. If you have been thinking ahead on documents, and such. Watch those that might become expired due to the delay. I am ready to hear you freak out. Screaming, SO will be here in x number of days. 240714 I don't know which documents will expire with the I-129F? If anyone knows, please let me know. Thanks - Ron 240726 Luckily for everyone going through this process, they know most of the I-129 documents expire before they are acted on, and automatically extend their dates while your application ages for several months. Not to worry.
3. I think you left inept, incompetant, inefficient and outright bass ackwards out of their mission statement. This is the same branch of the govt, DHS, that is charged with the task of keeping our country safe. I wonder how many "branches" can break off of the tree until they even notice it! Really makes you wonder when they can't even reconcile or stay on top of their own actions.
4. Randy: Amy also has 2 birthdays. The actual one and the one that China says she was born on. From what she said, it would be easier to move a mountain than to get the Chinese govt to correct her birth certificate!! B) I think we did use 2 original certified translated copies of her documents (there were 3).
5. CONGRATS!!! We always like to hear about the easy ones!!!
6. CONGRATS!!! We seem to be putting a dent in the world wide Cheetos consumption!!
7. ONLY 282 days and now you're a nervous wreck with 6 more days to go?!? You will be needing them fingers later on - maybe you should go out to eat for the next 6 days!!!! Good luck, take a deep breath and for gods sake, GET SOME CHEETOS!!!
8. Tony and Lin: CONGRATS!!!! Bet it feels nice knowing that he actually has the visa in his passport!!! As for the tickets, call Grand American travel in San Marino. After a few days of searching, they beat the best price for short notice flights Here is the website GAT San Marino and their phone is 888 285 8933. Amy got last minute tickets, non stop, round trip, from LAX to Shanghai for $775
9. My wife has signed ALL of her documents (US and China) in her native language. This is her real signature. We have had no problems and I would like to see someone try to forge her Chinese signature!!!
10. You need to count your blessings for every baby step on this twisted path of errors. David: You are the second person to get a Lao Po with male on her license!!! I mean, how stupid does a clerk have to be to get THAT wrong?!?!?!?
11. GOOD POINT!!! I would definately talk to a supervisor about that!! I can easily see them screw up so bad as to actually un-do everything you have accomplished so far!!! You could easily get the card that says "go directly to jail - Do not pass Go - Do not collect $200' !!!
12. I would say that the I-864 covers more than the I-134. Yes, they ask for the 134 but I think they would accept the 864 if that was all you had. Send an e-mail to GUZ and explain that you have the wrong one filled out - I bet they will say it is O.K. On our intervi9ew, I don't think they even asked for the I-134 !! Good luck!
13. Pink Lava Lamps??? How did I miss out on that one?!?
14. This one takes the cake!!! Maybe we should farm out the US Govt operations to India - couldn't be much worse!!!!
15. The injustice of our American "justice" system never ceases to amaze me. You guys started your process before we did and my Lao po has had her green card for over a year!!! A fine example of HUTAS if there ever was one!! But now is not the time to get bent out of shape! Contact your congressman (in person with your Lao Po if possible), show him the appointment letter with no date and the cancellation for failure to appear. As this is obviously a major screw up on their part. Your congressperson can get to the bottom of it and should be able to get it straightened out quickly. Laugh at their incompetance and know that it will get resolved correctly. Good Luck!!!
16. CONGRATS!!! The interviewer knew you from this website?!? I wonder if that man is A. K. A. USCONGEN . . . . . Note to all those awaiting interviews - mind your P's and Q's!!! Anyway, Congrats again. I think after he gets here I'll give you two at least a week or so to say "hello" properly and then another week or so of both of you wanting to monopolize your time together and then, when you both decide to come up for air, I'll look for you back here and you guys can meet your neighbors! B)
17. It would help up to know the type and amount of evidence you did present at the interview and other details like how many times you went to China and how long have you have had a relationship and what records of your relationship were presented.
18. There are a lot of acceptable answers to this - the key is to not look like you are thinking about it for the first time, especially in the interview situation. Comfortable, loved, happy, warm, excited, safe, secure, because she's sweet, cute, nice to me, beautiful - almost anything will work - what the interviewer is looking for is if yoou have thought about this before. Lin should be at the consulate as I am writing this - hopefully he will respond quickly if asked this question!! Good Luck!!!!!
19. You could always move to southern California - English is not required and half of the drivers on the road have no license or insurance! (excepting the ones they bought at the phonie ID stores) !!!
20. I agree 100% You need to call, or better yet, visit your congressperson!! Their single main reason for being in office is to help their constituents (you) deal with problems arising from dealing with the federal government. You'll have to sign a consent form authorizing them to inquire on your case in your behalf. I believe they are your best bet to get the ball rolling. Considering how far behind you are, I would also contact both of your senators. They can also inquire on your behalf and can ask questions as to why it takes the USCIS 10 months for them to do their jobn!!! You pay taxes, make your elected officials work for you!! If I was in your situation and my elected officials were to busy with 3 martini lunches to bother with me, I would write to your local newspapers and radio stations and magazines to point out the injustice of the system and how can our country be protected from terrorists if it take them 10 months to decide if one immigrant is a terrorist or not!!!! Give em hell because, contrary as one person would have you believe, they are NOT doing a helluva job!!!! 236931 Thx cosmiclobster, I have already contacted both Senators and am waiting on any results my congressman may receive from his inquirey. The Senators were a complete waste of time. The so called assistants really don't seem to have much common sence. You do make a very good point as to how can we find the real terroists if it takes 10 months to do a simple background check on an innocent chinese woman. I think I will contact our Senators office again and give them an ultimatum. Make something happen or I contact our news stations. 236939 I would not give an ultimatium like that. Use the power of word suggestion. Pose it as a question to them. "Do you think if I were to inquire at the newspaper and giving your name for reference in the matter, it would help for the newspaper to do an article, or perhaps try to contact the goverment for me?" "I would really like your advice on this matter, but I don't want to cause you or your office any problems, that is why I am asking you about this". "I know newspapers love to write and twist the words around, but I really can't think of anything else to do now". "Do you think there is any way you could check again and try to get a more conclusive and direct answer, as I know you have much more experience than the newspaper in handeling these kind of matters". 236980 Thx Mike, good point. I need to sit back and chill before I speak. Anger is getting the best of me. 236987 Yes, Mike makes a very good point! You don't want to piss off the people that can help you the most. Tact is VERY important and you must choose your words and approach carefully!! There's no need to incite your congressperson as they are the ones trying to help you and they have very limited power in this situation. They can only make an official inquiry as to the status of your case and I believe that the USCIS must reply within 72 hours, even if the reply is that "they are working on it" or it's a case of "HUTAS". The real question now is: did your congressperson ask you to sign a consent form? If he did not, then you are getting stroked and you need to step up the offensive. I moved during my visa petition and as such had 2 congresspersons at bat for me. Both of them said it was required of them to have a signed consent form for them to inquire as to the status of my case. Without stepping on anyone's toes and without causing one of our elected officials to lose face, you need to let them know that you are tired of waiting and if need be you will keep asking questions and keep getting more people involved in this until there is some action in this matter. Good luck!! B)
21. GOOD ADVICE!! You will need most of this info for the AOS and the USCIS has been known to lose things !!!
22. I would send them several pictures of the two of you together in different places and at different times. The law says mearly that you have to have met in person, but you are trying to prove an existing and ongoing relationship. We sent in pictures of us in front of recognizable landmarks in Shanghai, Guilin and Sanya to show them that we were not only together, but we travelled together. Send them a few pictures of the two of you in GZ, Nanning and Guilin. I think the kitchen sink is the best approach - the more you send now, the less they will question you (her) later on. good luck!
