  2. Congrats! and thanks for working your fingers so hard to tell us the story! O.K. Get there at 6:30, wear formal clothes and show up pregnant. Got it! Hehehe. Now if we could find out what the oath is - only oath I know is fragments of the Boy Scout oath I once knew (barely) . . . . .

  4. WOW Vermont is working on cases dated 3 days ago!!!!
  5. CSC has moved up 25 days in 2 weeks time!!!! WAAAHHHHOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!!!! your processing times may vary . . . .
  6. I lived in NYC for a long time and I can tell you this. Although NY has a great subway system, the train doesn't go to either airport. There may be a city bus to a subway station at both ends, but it would be 2 busses, a long ride into and out of the city and definately more than 1 train. Not a very pleasant way to go, especially if you are not familiar with NYC and have bags to carry. Taxi is the only viable alternative here. It's about 12 miles and could be $25 or $30. As for Newark, multiply these problems by about 3. Newark is much further away in NJ and you still have the same hassle at the NY end.
  7. Yes, congrats! It only took me a few days until I had committed our case number to memory - wac = CSC 04 = year 095 = day of the year 5 = visa? xxxx = our number and the total number of cases applied for that day You're so lucky to be in the Vermont SC - we applied Mar 20 and still have a month of waiting to go, so feel lucky!!!!

  10. Hi Marty I guess I should of figured out the husband/wife thing with names like Marty and WeiPing hehehe sorry! But that's not fair - teasing us about seeing the rest of the picture!!! but on the other hand, I do have a few pictures of my own - - hehehe I did have a nice decent picture of the two of us posted but my bride to be told me to nix it - said I was foolish for posting it - told her these people are friends in a similar situation - would do no harm to post it - most other people have a picture posted - told her this is not communist China - five hours of argument later . . . hehehe

  12. oops 2 or 3 CARDS while waiting (plus it does say China Exclusive, and we don't have to let them know that you can also call your granny in Cleveland)
  13. Hi Squeaky and thanks! BTW, I happen to be a displaced buckeye myself! From Cleveland originally - ok ok no Cleveland jokes please Talking about phone calls, I found a phone card called China Exclusive. It's about $16 and you get 1200 minutes - it works out to about a dollar an hour. You can also make domestic calls - Unfortunately, they will not print out a record of your calls for the VO. BUT, you can show them the receipts saying you bought 2 or 3 calls while waiting all these months . . . .
  14. Hi Rosy! This site does have a lot of useful information. We are all here to help each other and I feel I've made a lot of new friends too!
  15. Wow! Thank you Carl guy and girl Kims Trigg Dean David Richard Frank Micheal Resp Mari Richard and Maui I truly feel welcome and I feel I have made a lot of new friends. If any of your are ever at the beach in southern California, let's get together! Yes, there is a story behind the name - actually 2 stories For many years I was called the Lobster (story #1). Then the album Cosmic Thing from the B52's came out. I was playing it loud and dancing and singing "shake that cosmic thing - shake that cosmic thing" when my co workers came in and saw me and one of them said "Look, its a cosmic lobster!" And thus, the Cosmic Lobster was born
  16. Hi My sweetheart is in Shanghai so sending money was no problem. It may be different in the smaller cities. I have 1. Sent her an ATM card. There are transaction fees ($7 to $9) for each transaction. All of the ATM's I used in China accepted my Bank of America ATM, but very few liked my Washington Mutual. 2. Send a check. If she deposits it for 30 days, there is only a $3 fee, reguardless of the amount - less than 30 days is about a$8 or $10 fee, up to a certain $$ amount. 3. Send cash. There are people in the bank lobbys who will change it for the going rate, but I'm not sure if this is a kosher way to go. Because of the per dollar fees, I do not recommend 4. Wire transferes and money orders cost $$$ to cash! 5. I checked into opening an account at the Bank of China in downtown LA, but even they had big fees to deposit here and withdraw there. Hope this helps!
