  1. Oh? I was under the impression that the (a)(6) EAD was only good for the 90 days that the K1 visa is valid, and that I had to reapply for a ©(9) one after marriage... Mike
  2. Heya All, Trying to fill out the I-765, have a question on it. Question 11 says "have you ever applied for employment authorization before", and "if so, which office and what result". My SO put in an application right when she arrived (which was a waste of money), but the only thing we've gotten back on it was the first NOA. How should we fill in question 11 on the form that is going in with AOS? We don't have a "result" yet for it. Thanks!
  3. Heya All, Putting together the AoS paperwork, have a quick question. Do we need to get an "original" of her birth certificate (and translation), or is a xerox-copy of those ok? The government already has 2 "original" copies of her certificate, one filed with the I-129F, and another one that they kept at POE. She's going to be really upset if we need another one, as they kept her last copy at POE, and it could be painful (and slow) to get another one over here. We're also going to file the EAD and I-131 as well - do we need even more copies of it for each of those? Thanks, Mike
  4. Heya All, First off - I wanted to thank everyone here for all the information available. I know I didn't post very much, but reading everything here was extremely valuable to us. Sorry about the late report - this is the first chance that I've really had to write all this. *chuckle* I went over for the interview. Arrived in Tianjin on 8/12, had an "engagement lunch" with her extended family (about 20 people were there). Flew to Guangzhou on the 14th. Interview on the 15th. (She had previously taken care of the medical and visa fees in Beijing) There were about 200 people in the lines outside the consulate for the 7:15 and 7:30 appointments. They were late to start checking people in (the lines started moving about 7:45). While she was in line, she suddenly got a sick feeling in her stomach, and I told her to relax and to not be nervous, but then the big guy behind us that had awful cologne on went somewhere else and she felt better. *chuckle* I waited on the 4th floor while she disappeared into the unknown... After the fingerprints and such, she was about 30th to be interviewed. She was getting really nervous as there were only 1 or 2 "passes" in front of her, the rest all had blue slips going away from the interview window. Then she was called up. Questions (all in English - her English is very good): 1. How did you meet? 2. Do you talk? -- This really threw her for a second, as it seemed so simple - she had to have him repeat the question to make sure she heard it correctly. 3. What do you talk about? 4. What is his work? 5. Do you have pictures? And that was it - pink slip for us. Took about 2 minutes. The VO only looked at the pictures, nothing else. Really surprising to me that he didn't want to see the I-134F or my employment letter, but he didn't want any of it. She said that the VO acted like we were wasting his time and he just wanted our case out of there. *laugh* My SO was really disappointed that all the buildup led to an interview that was "too easy" (not that I'm complaining!) - she had prepared a lot, knew the ages and birthdates of my siblings, etc. Picked up the Visa on 8/17, back to Tianjin the same day, arrived home here on 8/20. Thanks for all the help, and good luck to everyone still in process! Mike
  5. Hi David, Thanks for all the hard work on this - we all appreciate it. The interview date for my SO was also given out yesterday (my post was a bit "subtle", and got buried under the avalanche pretty quickly), and I noticed that Travelers had one listed as well. Thanks, Mike
  6. Ok Cheffie, I'll take that bet... ... and it's one that I'm relieved to have already lost! Where should I send the six-pack to? Mike
  7. Mike ...they gave us an eligible date on 06/14/2006. So, it took them 12 days to give us the interview date. I used another member strategy of calling every Monday and Friday to get any information. I believe that Guz does a lot of their scheduling and sending forms out on Saturdays. It appears they are very busy during the week days to process any of the schedules and forms. I am sure they do process during the week days. But get a lot of them done on Saturdays. Just my opinion!! It just seems that the P3, P4 and the interview news I received on Mondays and received no news on Fridays. Anyway I hope this helps. 226692[/snapback] Heh - thanks Chef. I deleted my other post and created a new thread instead - wasn't thoughtful of me to hijack your thread like that. *apologizes profusely* Congrats again! Mike
  8. *cries* Congrats to everyone else, I don't mean to rain on your parade. Do they only do the interview scheduling once a week, or would it be worth it to call every day this week? Or am I going to be waiting another month now? My "eligible" date was 6/5, everyone else near seems to be scheduled today... *cries* Mike
  9. Hey All, My SOs P3 was returned to GUZ on 5/15, and when I called the DOS on 6/5 they said that she was "eligible for interview". I've been calling the DOS every Monday. When I called yesterday (6/19), same thing. How long does it normally take to get the interview scheduled (after being declared "eligible"? Has anyone else had their interview scheduled in the last couple of weeks? Thanks! Mike
  10. A rough timeline for mine, if you would like to add it... K-1: NOA1: 11/17/05 NOA2 (from CSC): 2/16/06 Out from NVC: 3/7/06 P3 received: 5/14/06 P3 returned: 5/15/06 Mike
  11. Cool - thanks for the warm (and quick!) welcome. Regarding the paperwork to send - it sounds like most of it is the same as what was submitted with the original I-129F. Does the consulate get that set of paperwork (from the NVC), or should I reprint those pictures/emails etc? I'm gathering everything up right now - will post a list when I think it's ready to go, to see what you guys think is missing. Thanks again! Mike
  12. Greetings all! Found this site while searching around - very informative. Wish I had found it a couple months ago. *chuckle* I'm in the middle of a K-1 application for my SO (P3 returned), and everything has been fairly smooth up to this point. Looking at what's been posted, my only concern now is that I have only been over to China one time to be with her. First, how much of a "red flag" is that? What additional things should we have for the interview because of it? If it is a huge problem that has any chance of causing a denial, I can go over for the interview. I would prefer not too, as I'd like to save my vacation days for when she's here, but I don't want to take any chances. Would that even help at all? Thanks so much! Mike My (rough) timeline, if you'd like to add it to the spreadsheet: K-1: NOA1: 11/17/05 NOA2 (from CSC): 2/16/06 Out from NVC: 3/7/06 P3 received: 5/14/06 P3 returned: 5/15/06
