  1. Time for gifting, I think so.. She yelled at you because somehow she lost face. You should give her a nice gift in front of her colleagues. I saw this a lot when I lived in Guangzhou, at different levels. Maybe it's time to find a personal teacher (not your husband) to help you with this cultural problem. Later, when I lived in Singapore, I had this explained to me from my ethnic Chinese workers. I'm basically nodding my head here, when I read your words, thinking , "Yup, that's how it all goes down".
  2. Since his wife is CR-1 there is no adjustment of status once she enters the US, thus she must have all of her vacinations and medical done before the interview. DOH ! OK la...
  3. Ya - if one does 'totally postal' phase at NVC - can take up to 2 months. There are published shortcuts , these last 3 years now, that speed up the process somewhat - and combine that with 1) electronic submittal of 'choice of agent' form and 2) electronic payment of all fees (online credit card processing) the processing time at NVC can be reduced to about 3 weeks, total - if one pays attention and stays on top of things. The current record (IIRC) is 11 days NVC processing, done by a VJ member. I dunno though - my I-130 packet is huge - it will be interesting to see if I am a candidate for the pilot program..
  4. this might be good news. i am dubious of words, always - like.. it's a pilot program (not so many ppl will be selected to participate) it's optional for you (petitioner must actively DO something to engage in the program) . Maybe I'm reading too much into this - maybe it's just for [petitioner]< > [NVC] paperwork collection, where the petition sends in SCANNED documents via email or a web portal upload thingie. My first thought was for electronical transmittal for [NVC] < > [GUZ], but maybe that's not the case. Your words were not so clear - does this mean, really, that NVC will take one's original documents, scan them, and make them available electronically to GUZ? and that GUZ will accept the scanned documents from NVC ? If this is the case (and not something else) then it will be interesting to see 'what happens next'. Electronic use of 'documents' should totally remove the 'document storage phase' at GUZ - which always has been erroneously labelled as 'customs delay'. There's no customs delay - it's only sitting in storage, waiting for GUZ to pick it up. There's been comments about how GUZ must suffer 'consular document delay' on shipments - but that is erroneous - they are using the warehouse , actively, to store casefiles, cause GUZ is backed up. But - that's a whole 'nother thread, ya? Hopefully - the pilot program will make use of 'older technology' that has been hardened for encryption - and the 'release of documents' at NVC becomes instantaneous at GUZ. Thanks for the heads up - I'm gonna pay attention to this one. I do wonder, though - if you were selected because of prior attempts, or because 'the pilot program is ready now'. FWIW, prior to this pilot program - there were ways to 'speed things up at NVC' - email the DS-3032 - http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Email_DS-3032_form flowchart of NVC process - (it's old, but shows the concurrent, parallel branches) http://www.visajourney.com/examples/NVC_Pr...wchart_v1-2.pdf Shortcuts for NVC - http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/...he_NVC_ShortCut I note that this VJ shortcut list is a bit hard to follow - I suggest you read it through 3 times, and on the 3rd time, make copious notes about what forms go where, and in what sequence, and play around with the barcode generation prior. Good Luck !
  5. Jesse - I'm sorry - it's all comical now - you saw the warning message
  6. Did you sign up for an online account for your two petitions? You can see status and all history on the USCIS online system . You mentioned having an attorney - are you hammering him for status updates? IMO, the fastest DCF processing occurs if you live inside the GUZ consular district. I remember reading here of other couples who were NOT in the GUZ consular district, and filed the I-130 at GUZ anyway. You could certainly file it this week, with the understanding that you probably won't be around the day of the interview (but you might squeak by, if a miracle occurs). But hei - look at it this way? Do you what your wife wants, and now. The pressure will be gone, and you can continue on with the happy life. Warmest Regards..
  7. is possible his records are crossed up somewhere. I would start with a coupla phone calls - then if you are unable to help them 'see' that the file is on someone's elses desk, then set up an info pass appointment to ask 'the man' to find the files. Worst Case Scenario - when all fails, you'll have to redo his shots and civil surgeon records.. But I'm betting a coupla phone calls is gonna alleviate the 'lost ' condition.
  8. One thing that sometimes slips by - is that International Immunization Record, or 'yellow book'. She'll get shots for the medical requirements of the visa, but sometimes 'the clerk' won't remember to upsell 'the package' - the yellow book IS extra, about 20 rmb. The yellow book is NOT put in the sealed medical folder - it's hers to keep. It's useful to have , should she need to have an I-693 record done in the USA - the yellow book records are easily transcribed by a civil surgeon INTO the I-693. Good Luck !
  9. Everything you submitted for the I-130, including the proof of bonafide relationship stuff - you send it all in AGAIN for the K-3'd I-129f. These are seperate petitions, even though for the same beneficiary - do not assume one thing in the I-130 will be looked at for the I-129f , then you decide to NOT include it for the I-129f, thinking , "I sent it in already, they have it". Treat them both as totally seperate, and of course - you'll have to provide copies of everything you've already submitted with the I-130, for the new I-129f. Good Luck !
  10. I would suggest you rethink this a bit. The I-129f application for a K-3 is supposed to be sent to the address listed in the NOA-1 from the I-130.
  11. unfortunately - GIV-24 is one of those 'words' that'll never show up in a Search , here on CFL, using the IPB search engine. It's some technical matter - 3 character words are hard - dashes are excluded in the hash index, things go wonky... BUT - you can use google's site search feature with CFL's url - go to www.google.com in the search box - enter: site:candleforlove.com GIV-24 and you'll get some hits... Warmest Regards...
  12. TOny ? I swear - TaTa makes many things, not just the throw away car. I would be interested to see the Ta Ta Economy Model (the one you mentioned) sold in China. Not 'made in China' - but - sold in China.
  13. Interesting. I have a totally different view of him - no where close to yours. Mine is based on his forays into the HKG film scene, and how he used his solid skills to bootstrap into Hollywood. I dunno - I swear - we're reading different things - cause if we're reading the same things, and have this great dichotomy of opinion? One of us needs to be labelled as 'not a reader'. Thankfully - he doesn't base his income stream on your view, or on my view.
  14. IIWY, I would not make any opinion based on 1 case. But - since it's YOUR case - I would (again, IIWY) question and query each and every step , comment, finding and ruling, that occurred at GUZ - ask for facts, ask for 'supervisors comments' and ask for GUZ ConOff's 9FAM quotings - then try to match up all that was 'said' in GUZ with what was 'quoted' in 9FAM, and then, only then, find the anomolies. I don't have to tell you how to do your job, right? Others have great faith in you and yer ability to read, do research, use personal contacts to dig for information, use great research skills to show how 'silly stuff' is not promulgated as policy . Right?
  15. mainlander or not, his upbringing was probably harsher than most mainlanders. Ya, I concur - he was at a Peking Opera school in HKG for a LONG time, and there were lots of beatings (his own words, in a tv interview about his life, done about 4 years ago).
  16. whome? - ya - lets see wot transpires in this upcoming week there in PRC - it might take a few days to get past the government press censors, but surely - someone's gonna write more about Mr. Chan's mention of Chinese-manufactured TVs, I'm guessing by Thursday?
  17. It'll be interesting to see if TaTa (an Indian firm) is allowed to sell it's economy models in China.
  18. Just point out that USA has quality problems too .... Yes those TV brands quality level is as good as any in the globe. So I still am confused about what Jackie said and the reason behind it especially since "discuss censorship and restrictions on filmmakers in China. He expanded his comments to include society." Alright. I'll stand by my original posit - things made in China for local consumption have had less quality control than things produced in China for export. Fortunately, this has been changing the last 18 months (I'm repeating myself here, do note, yes?) so that currently, is not as bad as it was 18 months ago. The thing that is 'funny' to me - really, is that Mr. Chan is a Hong Kong Person, and said 'We chinese need to be controlled'. I feel he incensed his loyal HKG devotees, and it's been 'showing up' to be true in the hkg press and blogs the last 24 hours. As noted elsewhere, he has a history of NOT being vocal about hkg government issues.. I guess the other 'thing' that some might miss - is that there are many japanese-branded manufacturing facilities in China, with the product leaving china for export, under one of the various 'japanese' brands - which goes back to my comment about higher quality control for export goods. Ford's SA manufacturing plant has a higher level of quality control than it's USA plants - and that was by design and specification. The cars they export to Europe are better made and have less problems than the USA cars (which were not designed for export, so an apples to apples comparison here is quite hard). and that, was exactly what I meant for not trying to compare Ford's SA automotive plant to anything else - it's stellar, top notch, there is not another plant like it in the world - is impossible to make the comparisons.
  19. I don't see it as having relevance to your current petition. What might be relevant, is the amount of time between the divorce granting date and your start of conversation with your lass. GUZ will look at that (USCIS first, of course). What is strict ? How is it strict? How does it apply to your petition? If you don't know the answers to these questions, please find out. - this isn't an issue for an automatic denial- many visas have been awarded where the petitioner had 2 prior divorces, some beneficiaries were also blue-slipped about this, asking for proof of 'no shared domicile' between the petitioner and the ex-wife - successfully overcome and visa granted. I must be totally dense today - you have issues that were successfully addressed in the initial petition filing - but I don't 'see' how what you've described can be construed as a problem, flipping into an automatic white slip o denial o visa come interview day. I can understand your concerns, but I don't see 'them' as large enough to cause a VO to automatically issue a white slip o denial. Sure, it will 'looked at' a bit more than some others, but because you have more detail to look at. Yer lass will need to be able TALK about the 2 prior divorces, she should know the 'divorce granted' dates, on the interview day. I'm not trying to knock you here, but I think the premise you've described is hogwash. If I've missed something, or I'm blatantly wrong, I'd be happy to renig from that label, and apologize.
  20. whome? - yup - you've listed TV brands with 'better' quality control. Did this shift to cars somehow? I wasn't paying attention - can we please not talk about the auto manufacturers? (I'll feel compelled to complain about Ford's South America Plant, if that's the case).
  21. If there is an expedite tag on the son's case, then is possible for GUZ to pull his casefile from the bonded warehouse (where it really is). Some bright clerk has to see the expedite in the GUZ computer first, then decide to pull the file. The expedite tag , once recognized, will make it possible for a clerk to pull the file 'ahead of time', out of sequence. I would suggest that you contact GUZ via email, and ask them to : 1. pull the son's casefile per the expedite tag 2. reschedule your wife's interview to be same day of son's interview Good Luck !
  22. $210-500 per person depends when they will go back, diffrent season and diffrent days in a week. ok. what about oct 1st through oct 6th? surely that is not high season at all. you can pick a day where it is cheaper. if you explain to an airline clerk about the us immigration issue for the one day difference, you might get a reduced 'change ' rate. ask again, make this an issue with them..
  23. I don't think you'll be denied at all. When I read that 'multiple k-1' stuff from 9FAM, I understood that the 2nd (and subsequent) k-1's go into a tracking database, and any ex-spouses are contacted. There was nothing in there about 'automatic denial'. Also, the 'red-flag' occurs when there are 2 k-1's filed within a 2 year span of each other - and this doesn't fit your scenario at all. I suggest you go and re-read the sections that you found to be troublesome. Warmest Regards..
  24. whome? - for the longest of time, items produced for export to USA had higher quality control than items built for the local china market. This has been changing, slowly at first, and in the last 18 months has had a big turn-around.
  25. it may seem cheaper, but it's really not. booking agents in china can get cheaper rates. yer just needing can/lax, right? have HER get some guangxi going with HER contacts... If it's NOT the CZ flight , from CAN to LAX, then yer spinning yer wheels (IMO). I strongly suggest you rethink yer plan, specifically on the 'booking of date' step for HER flight into the USA.
