  1. I would suggest that you make an info pass appointment , make the call on Wednesday, and ASK to have the appointment BEFORE your wife's scheduled departure date. IMO, solves a LOT of problems. My question about biometrics was more along her timeline - the interview could come anywhere from 2 to 11 weeks after the biometrics appointment was finished.
  2. David - smoke and mirrors? That's got to be the best description I've seen, yet, to describe the guidelines for the listed USCIS evidentiary guidelines. Are you sure you want to use that phrase? The guidelines changed for the I-130 in OCT 2007. I invite you to have a longish study on them, it's all listed in the instruction set.
  3. shutterbug - sorry - those are the things one can do to make 'bonafide relationship evidence' to be submitted for an I-130. 'seems limited' are your words, not mine. Thankfully I use the USCIS guidelines, and not yours. I spoke of life insurance, not medical insurance. USUALLY a health insurance carrier will want a SSN, usually give the spouse up to 6 months to get one, before she's dropped off of the insurance. Getting medical insurance 'add-on', IMO, is useless. The evidentiary guidelines changed on the I-130 in OCT 2007. Where are you currently in your petition process?
  4. yes, you will need the co-sponsers tax info again for the AOS - but if there were no copies made of 'that set' - ask him to get tax transcripts, instead. Those are just as valid (sometimes even more so).
  5. don't forget about life insurance POD beneficiary as well.
  6. Hey Bob - wow - so fast. BatManiac has a chance, he just started on week 11. If it hits this week, he might tie you.
  7. You can do much, with exception of joint bank account. With Bank accounts, she can be added in as a POD beneficiary. You can get her name added to all utilities, to a lease agreement, to a house title. Got a cell phone account ? Get her name added to it, so it shows up on the bill . Lots of good nuggets here - http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=35091 including my own. Some folk have gotten bank accounts - IMO it requires a personal relationship with your banker. Please note that I'm going against what dnoblett has said - as there is LOTS you can do. I've done LOTS, others here have done LOTS. But don't forget item 5, either. PM me if you need a template for the affadavit. It carries more weight if it's notarized by yer local notary, as well. But - where are you in yer filing process? If you've already filed the I-130, IMO - it's too late.
  8. A K-3 visa is a spousal visa, based on the I-130 with subsequent I-129f. You need to prove up a bonafide relationship, per the instructions of the I-130. I suggest you include the receipts when you first file the petition, as it's part of the 'evidenciary package' yer supposed to submit with the I-130. Make copies, send it all out AGAIN with the K-3 paperwork. Good Luck !
  9. Hey - aren't all the replacement parts for earlier models, still made in Mexico and Canada ? hmmmmm
  10. Hey Ron - ya - the 'fast time' is now due to the 'electronic processing at NVC', started mid april of this year. Near as I can tell, there is NO PHYSICAL CASE FILE sent off from NVC to GUZ via DHL.
  11. Christopher - when my firm evaluated google chrome - there was some big hoopla about all of the site addresses being sent back to Google for their further study. At the time, that was a 'no-go' for my firm. I don't know if Google is still collecting side addresses, but for us, it was a level of intrusion that we didn't want. We've paid for Opera Licenses for about 8 years now - I have nothing but good things to say about Opera. Ya, sure, there's a free version, too.
  12. Got a few days to evaluate Opera? http://www.opera.com/ I only keep IE 6 around for looking at MS tech sites, use Opera for everything else.
  13. Mystic. Good to know you got it sorted. Very Mystic..
  14. Wow - the NPR radio folk are referring to him as Tim 'the toolman' Geithner. hmmmm Did I miss it? Was this his first trip out of country?
  15. Woo Hoo !! Party Time !! Great News !
  16. Here is my 'alternative method' - totally useless if she 'skips a day'.. 1. write out by hand (pencil and paper) 3 articles each day from english newspaper. do that for 2 weeks. Suggest 1 from Front Page, 1 from Sports Section, 1 from International News. This gives a wide sampling of authors' styles and word groupings. 2. same as 1, but for weeks 3 and 4, look up the words ya don't know, get the definitions. 3. same as 1 and 2, but for weeks 5 and 6, SPEAK the sentences outloud. *---- Another good thng she can do is to join the local Toastmasters club - see http://www.toastmasters.org to find a local chapter and meeting. IMO, it's USEFUL for getting CRITIQUES on SPOKEN ENGLISH USAGE - but - it's not for everyone.
  17. Hey - do you have a library card ? Yes? Now go online , to the library's web portal. Register a new account using your library card credentials. Now take a look around - you should see LOTS OF STUFF available for 'electronic checkout and download' available. You can actually check out Rosetta Stone, Pimsleur, and a host of other Publishers' English / ESL SOFTWARE TITLES. Some of these are software programs, some of these are Audio sets, but ALL have a DRM mark (Digital Rights Media) so whatever you check out electronically, will expire at the proper date. You'll need to have the proper DRM software installed (usually an extension of Windows Media Player, but other browers, FireFox, Opera, for example, have DRM also) or she'll have an abysmal learning experience (Sweetie ! this software is sh|t ! Cannot Run!! What is DRM?) IMO, she needs an ESL program, but something she can 'move around the levels' with - as some of the basics will bore her, and some of the advanced stuff will stump her. I'll post more about my alternative method in a minute - but for now - please dig out yer library card, and go online..
  18. You can call DOS during the daytime, ask for status.
  19. WOO HOO ! Great News !!! Go Pink !!! http://i8.tinypic.com/52f1tzk.jpg
  20. avs81 - hei - it's orbitz - if you b|tch, gripe and complain ENOUGH, in the 'right way' and successfully, you can get some 'orbitz credit' on your account. Good Luck ! If you need help writing a scathing letter, send me a PM. re: luggage - here's what is normal. Changsha to Guangzhou - check it at Changsha, pick it up at Guangzhou, recheck it at Guangzhou for the LAX flight at the checkin counter. BagTags say only 'Changsha to Guangzhou' Guangzhou to LAX - International Flight Rules Apply. Checked in at CAN, then picked up at the POE - must go through a customs inspection with luggage. Walk the luggage out of the International Arrivals Area, and RECHECK the luggage for the Boston Flight. BagTags SHOULD SAY Guangzhou to Boston. LAX to Boston - Check the luggage in a LAX, pick it up at Boston. Might get some new bagtags here - sometimes yes, sometimes no. if new bagtags, will say 'LAX to Boston' So, you get some idea, is no 'hands free handling' of luggage from Changsha to Boston (sorry, Changsha is just an example). You just can't give it to the counter folk at Changsha and have it show up in Boston WITHOUT 3 rechecks. It's a PITA. WEI - has yer lass landed yet ? Welcome Home !!
  21. Hey - thanks for answering me. I gotta wonder, though - why in the world would you want to hijaak this thread with this question? It seems to me that the question itself doesn't apply to the OP, but the MEAT OF YOUR QUESTION is heavy - heavy enough, IMO, for a new THREAD. Oh well. Good to know yer done all the way through to naturalization. ( I woulda known, if ye'd written it somewhere in a sig file, even when viewing it on a member's profile - instant knowledge, not need to see timeline - done is done, ya? I feel really stupid assuming you need assistance with some form, though) I think if I had this kind of problem, I would include web site addresses in any correspondence TO any of the entities that you need an answer from, and suggest to them, that either the wording is wrong, or you need further clarification. But that's how I roll. I wouldn't get too many words written about a matter that I have no direct involvement in, though - for if it's not affecting me or my family - I can't spend too much time on it (my billable time matches most attornies, and is full, every day, cept for this portal). I dunno Samsong - it almost smells as if there really is an old copy/paste going on, and a native english speaker didn't 'catch it' during a subsequent review. Who Knows? Maybe if your bring it to 'their' attention, you might get a coupla hundred bucks, a free meal, an attaboy, or a new friend with an Embassy somewhere. I'm not trying to dissuade you from pursuing this, but I sense further time in THIS THREAD goes against the OP's original question. Hang In There - somehow, this'll all get sussed out. Warmest Regards...
  22. samsong - what type of paperwork is tripping you up, currently? perhaps we can assist?
  23. Urkidding - I have a great short term solution. Have China actually pay for all the licenses for all the software that is used illegally in China, back to the US Software Manufacturers, by turning over the T-Bills that China has, back to the US Treas Dept . At last count, it'd be a 1:1 swap, you betcha ! WHOOP!
