  1. Jesse - ya - I remember 'hitting that wall' and then 'going through it' when I was an expat in Guangzhou. Almost all of it happened to me. Good luck with your assimilation - if you're not meeting with USA expats in Nanjing on a weekly basis,,, well, you might wanna 'find the group' .. Good Luck !
  2. okie2 - soooooooooo - what were the results?
  3. Ya - that's the view of the cars that were sold into the USA, back in the '70s . Thankfully, they have made vast improvements. Anything past '99 is actually pretty darn good. But you can't buy it stateside from a dealer. their TDI (Turbo Diesel Engine) is actually pretty good, but I wouldn't want to see it in a Volvo Vehicle - I'd be sad. You CAN import almost any Renault vehicle from The Benelux, though.. It's cool to do - have LHD, and if you choose a vehicle from 99 or later - it has the EU emissions standards (so passes emissions testing, even in California) and the EU Safety Standards (which is harsher than any state in the CONUS) ... If you were in Europe this century, you might have had a chance to RENT ONE whilst you were visiting. I have, I like them much - that's just me... I also owned one in Singapore - but that's another story - albeit sans septic tank. But I digress. . I'd prefer Renault to purchase Volvo instead of any China entity... It's just a personal preference, and Renault has the cash and lines of credit to make it happen. I'm a diehard Volvo Fan - I had rigors when Ford bought it --the S80 design reminded me too much of the frickin Ford Taurus - but I'd have even greater Rigors if some China entity owned it. F*CK all on the technology transfer.
  4. Bump - anyone care to check it out from yer local movie rental place? The female lead has a good history of work in the USA - I've been watching some of her other stuff since the first post.
  5. Thats EXCELLENT NEWS !!! Call DOS tomorrow, see what kind o status they have? Warmest Regards...
  6. Darnell is just prepping us about his outfit. But of course !!! that's the main reason I pay attention to 'current men's fashions' - I don't want to appear 'out of place'. Yum !
  7. Oh Poopies... Renault has some cash - perhaps they can make an offer.

  9. Richard - the current trend in man's fashion, for interview day, is to wear heavy sandles with PINK socks, a PINK shirt (they make the cuban shirts in pink in FL, ya ya bring one) and a pink cotton bandana (worn round the neck, or covering the head, or wrapped round the wrist). Pink t-backs, for men, this season, have been tossed aside, as well as most other pink undergarments. Please let us know what you decide to bring, and then what you actually wore on I-Day ??? Warmest Regards...
  10. Hey I study the DOS site all the time, but can learn new things all the time. And correct, not for K-Visas because K-Visas pass quickly through NVC and have none of the NVC document processing. If electronic filing of docs at NVC then results in electronic transfer to GUZ bypassing Chinese customs, this may be another BIG reason to avoid K-3, this can make CR-1 essentially quicker than K-3. D@MN SKIPPY ! Ya - I am looking for the dead-zone to disappear entirely.
  11. In the article - this was covered. She had shied away from keeping appointments for mental stuff. Now, each 'place' as a psychiatric sherrif on call 24/7 - so it's possible to get a sherrif in to escort her to a ward for prolonged evaluation - but - no one around her thought to make the phone call. FWIW, I think her 'reactions' were due to the treatment she got from her husband. What a gonif !
  12. Ya, it's possible - just remember that your casefile # will change from GUZ to GZO, and they might ask your to resend in a lot of things that you've already submitted, as a scanned pdf file. Truly, at this point, though - it's all theory (and MY theory, at that) - that you can get converted INTO an electronic processing case. There is some reference to it on the USCIS portal. I say it's possible, but there will be an initial delay for NVC to get it converted. Personally, I think the delay is useful, as you will no longer have the 'dead zone' time wait that a physical case file has (1 to 4 months waiting in a bonded warehouse in Guangzhou). In any event - give em a call tomorrow (also follow up with that special NVC Guangzhou email address) and see what they say... Warmest Regards...
  13. HaoRan - if you can wait a few days before 'sending in the DOCS' - I suggest you opt in for electronic processing NOW. In the mean time, SCAN in those documents, convert them to PDF files - you'll need them in a week or so.
  14. I was talking about YOU!! Yes, I caught that. hence the comment. Now - what's your issue? if you'd like to cover this via PM, I welcome that avenue. FWIW, your comment in a public forum seems abrasive - IMO it seems you are trying to 'stir the pot'. Is that really the case? Anyway - lets pick this up and continue via PM, ya? Thanks !
  15. What is electronic processing? Faxing? Scanned docs? Wouldn't that be the same as a copy? Has anyone tried sending Notorized copies? Would we receive a request for more information? I suspect notarized should be fine. The notary is certifying that the copy matches the original. Electronic processing has to do with NVC sending to GUZ, not when you send docs to NVC. dnoblett - You know this is wrong, yes? Electronic processing has to do with NVC sending to GUZ, not when you send docs to NVC. The statement, as you worded it, is wrong. Electronic processing has to do with the petitioner emailing in SCANS of the original documents and forms TO NVC. Once the docs are complete, NVC makes 'a packet', GUZ picks up the packet 'electronically' - there is no DHL sending. HaoRan - is possible to opt in for electronic processing - but - just where are you , in the NVC processing stage? If you've started it at all, and want to shift to electronic, you have to OPT IN. If you've not started NVC processing yet, and are ready to start NVC processing - electronic processing at NVC is available to you. You might have to ASK for it, via telephone, or by opting in electronically to the special NVC Guangzhou email address. That is why I noted this in #9 http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?...st&p=498156 Yes, Randy brought up something new on DOS. Randy brought it up? You must not be reading my prior posts about electronic processing. Oh Well. My apologies - I've no idea where you went with this, it's gotten all muddled now... Have a look? Randy's post today and my post from the 12th of May -- both list the same url. Oh Well. If you get a moment, do please have a read on the gov site. It doesn't apply to K-1 or K-3 visas at all.
  16. NuWorld - now yer on the crusade as well? Ok - My apologies if I offended YOUR sensibilities, but... - dnoblett was wrong about electronic processing. I listed what it's all about.
  17. Jimi - DOS will have futher info, please to call them?

  23. i had seen references to gweilo, knew what it meant - just suggesting alternative spelling for this wonderful cantonese word
  24. I thought it strange, too, but attributed it to the age of 'those' members I call mines xiao ke;) we had this discussion recently - to call 'husband ' or 'wife' as basic form of address... i had suggested she call me xiaoFeiZhu...
  25. Jimi - IME, EMS is 'one day off' from any 'action'. BUT - if there's 'no info available' then it prolly hasn't left the GUZ mailroom yet. Strongly suggest you call DOS and ask what's up. You'll get CASE STATUS, but remember - even 'current' case status is at least 1 day old.
