  1. Goto the USCIS website, select 'Processing Times' on the left. (Here is the link) https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplayInit.do Change the "Field Office" to that of the office in your jurisdiction. Your Field Office is who preforms the processing of family-based I-485.
  2. They met after she had studied here for a while. So intent should not be a problem. Thanks for all of the replies.
  3. Wife's cousin has been in the US for a year studying on an F1 student visa. She meets someone and decides to get married. Any problems getting married and adjusting status?
  4. Here is a link to their web site contact page. It basically sends them an email. http://guangzhou.usembassy-china.org.cn//immigrant-visa-unit-question.html I found them very helpful about these kinds of inquiries when we brought my wifes parents over. The invitation letter had gotten lost. They sent me a copy and said to just have them bring it with them. Good Luck
  5. I had a similar issue. I used Fedex. Yes, it is more expensive, but you get what you pay for. You can track the package all the way and see who signed for it. Never had good luck with USPS. Some packages get there, some don't. I never ever had any probelms with Fedex. So I always send the must get there in time by FedEx.
  6. You asked... hold your breath. Why are you here asking and not your husband? I cannot tell you the red flag I get from this... This is just MY opinion. You know way too much about the process... I cannot tell you the red flag I get from this... This is just MY opinion. Your advantages are just 'ok'. But you postulate a lot of 'evidence' which you never provide here... Disadvantages are NOT economy assurance but WAGE assurances: Chinese wages + American wages... FORGET Chinese wages! That has NO FUTURE MEANING. DO you understand the filing requirements? Again; why is he not here asking these questions???? Your being apart for almost a year is also not good... I can't say enough the wrong direction your questions go. Plan a 2 year idea. My Analysis; My Opinion. Easily forgotten. Why should this be a red flag? Like Randy points out, there are many Chinese women who are Candle members. Why should they need to keep silent and only ask through their husband? We should welcome them with open arms. The fact that she knows the process speaks volumes to me as well, not as a red flag, but as proof of their relationship. They have been married for almost a year and have known each other longer. They talk about their future and what it will take to be together. My wife was only a fiancee at the time she was waiting in China. However, she knew the process quite well. Why? Because we talked everyday. The main subject was her K1 visa application and what we needed to do to get her here. She is also an independent woman and asked questions through many other different resources. Cindy strikes me as someone who is like her. Independent, hard working and diligent, What is wrong with that?
  7. It just goes to show,, good things come to those that wait. But damn, why did ya have to wait so long.....
  8. The chairs you list are nothing like the ones she wants for her Reflexology. That has been the problem, finding an outlet here that has anything but the basic chair. Power she says is not an issue, they sell all over the world and know power requirements. So we are looking for an import broker. If you find your links, let me know. Thanks
  9. My wife is opening a Reflexology and Massage Center. We have looked at the Reflexology chairs here in America. They are just your basic chair, not much more. The new chairs from a Shanghai company appear more professional. Not only do they look better, but the newer ones come with a monitor for each chair. Watch sports while getting a foot massage. I know some will say the quality might be in question. I remember the last time I had reflexology done in Nanning, China. I have got to say, the quality of those chairs are not much different then what is available here in the US. We will order the chairs from China if at all possible. The one problem is getting them here. The chair manufacturer said for our quantity (need only six) we need to find a way to ship the chairs ourselves. Does any one who is now in China know of a way or even a service we could use to help us ship any items we buy in China?
  10. Arizona requires all massage therapists to be licensed. You may not practice without one. If she gets caught, it is considered a misdemeanor, so maybe deportation maybe not. Care to roll the dice on that one? Deported carries a ban from the US of 10 years. Here are some links for information for your state. http://www.massageboard.az.gov/ http://www.azleg.sta...=32&DocType=ARS My wife is a licensed massage therapist, about to open her own business, so this is why I know something about problems associated with this type of work. We know some LPR's who were caught without a license, but not deported. That is not to say it could not happen, so I would not think it is worth the chance. Even if they don't deport her, they could deny the next green card or refuse her application for citizenship. So consider things very carefully. You could always send her to school to get her license, if this is what she wants to do.
  11. No. It is not overkill. In fact you should do more. If I remember the instructions they want at least two letters from others who have watched the relationship. Co-mingling of finances is a must. Putting her on both house and check account is a great step. I also put my wife on all credit cards, the utilities, the cars and included these as evidence.
  12. I believe this works through your State Health Department. Oregon has their Dept of Health Services (DHS) which we sent in an application for my wife's parents. They were disqualified. Reason, they have not been here for five years. So once they have been here five years, look to your State for a Low/No income Health Plan. My understanding is this is administered through the State Dept and tied to Medicare/Medicaid plan.
  13. She can transit through Hong Kong without a visa. Any Chinese citizen who carries airline tickets to and from Hong Kong can enter up to 7 days each way. We used this way to enter China last time we went back. No visa needed, just need to show passport, green card and airline tickets.
  14. Yep I remember that connection, made it on a tour a while back. Gotta say I loved that little route. It was easy to go Portland - Narita - Guangzhou. Easy and cheap to take train to Nanning. We use an alternate route now. Portland - Narita - Hong Kong. Take shuttle to Shenzen Airport, fly to Nanning. Either way we liked Northwest the best. Delta has been pretty good. Every other airline we tried to China, fell flat on their face with poor customer service.
  15. I filter everything we pay through our Delta Sky miles card. This adds the miles up very quick. Since I pay off the card every month in full, I gain these miles for zero interest charges. These miles are not too difficult to use, you can also use them for someone else. I brought my wife's parents from China for a total of $60. Yeah so I had to pay a fee, really all I paid were the taxes. This included the Hong Kong airport tax. Can't blame them for not wanting to pay for the taxes. Its hard cash out of their pocket. The other stuff their is no money for them to lay out. You can't beat that. Of course, everyone has their opinion about what is good or bad. But who makes them the expert. I noticed he did not mention which airlines gave him trouble. He talked about paying double miles for when you want to travel, but he did not mention dates. Even regular fees are double and sometimes triple for times when most people want to travel. I have always had very good experience with Delta. I will stay with them. Yeah so to use the miles I had to be flexible on the time my wife's parents traveled. This is absolutely nothing different than being flexible on dates to get a good rate. Case in point I travel for business quite a bit. I had to book a trip from Portland to Phoenix. It ended up costing $630 dollars for me to fly during December. If I could have waited til after the New Year, I could have booked the same ticket for $236. So now tell me what is the difference. If I had used frequent flier miles and been charged double? We have enough miles to take a trip to China or maybe even Europe. I also get companion tickets to take some one at a reduced rate. Sorry but I still see it as a good deal. Like everything, it depends on how you manage it and the way you look at it.
  16. Lisa said, she was told you did not have to worry about how much oil. The big things are sugars and carbohydrates, because they turn into sugar in the body. She also says to find someone who is good at Reflexology. There are pressure points in the feet which will help with the pancreas, thyroid and other major organs. A good Reflexologist can help your system handle this better.
  17. Carl, Sorry to hear this. The idea about seeing a nutritionist is great. Lisa had gestational diabetes when she was pregnant with both Garrett and Alden. They monitored her very closely this last time and sent her to see a nutritionist. Lucky for her it has disappeared after giving birth to Alden. I know we can give you some ideas on how to eat better. First, watch your intake of rice. You should not eat very much at all. Second, she was told any amount of meats are acceptable. I will find out if she still has her instructions on Asian foods and diabetes. Lisa just got home. She said, you can also eat any amounts of vegetables. The no nos are any kind of carbohydrates. So the big thing is to limit your intakes of these, like rice and noodles.

    Hello

You know this kind of thing happens all the time. They switch babies at the hospital, maybe they switch women at the airport. Seriously, nice pics, nice story, keep us posted I will add my welcome to the US Aiai.....
  19. Yep, That's the way it works. The only notice I got was a phone call at 2am from a very excited Chinese lady.
  20. 1) - Yes. You will be required to start over. 2) - Yes. Absolutely. THIS IS A RESIDENCY CARD !! It will be revoked If they determine you are living somewhere other than the United States. They will consider it abandon if you are absent from the US for a period of time. Usually this is over a year, but they can and will use their own discretion. Here is a link and statement directly from USCIS. http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.eb1d4c2a3e5b9ac89243c6a7543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=3f443a4107083210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=3f443a4107083210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD
  21. No, that is wrong. A Chinese citizen with US green card and airline tickets is allowed to transit through Hong Kong without a visa. They are allowed to stay up to seven days each way. I know this for a fact as my wife and I used Hong Kong as an entry point in 2007.
  22. Thanks for clearing that up Dan. So I can send it in. That's great. I had been sitting on their signed 3032's since early April of 2010, just need to date them and scan them in. I was told there was a barcode that I had to wait to get on the 3032's that the NVC sends out, and that futhermore the 3032 had to come from the wife in China. tsap seui There WAS some confusion early on - i think they DID specify that the email come from the beneficiary at one point - until they realized they really couldn't tell the difference. You know, you can always get creative. We had the same issue when filing for my wife's parents. Now a days you almost always have web access to your email. So we signed up my wife's US email address for petitioner and my wife's China email address as beneficiary. Amazingly, correspondence for the petitioner always came from the US email address and email from beneficiary always seem to come from China. They either did not know that all the correspondence was scanned in at my work and all emails came from the same computer or did not care.
  23. Here is the Federal Poverty Guidelines. http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-864p.pdf The magic number you are looking for depends on what your point of reference is. When you sponsor someone, you basically add them to your household. So you have to be above the number for everyone in your house plus the amount you are sponsoring. Say your household is you two and you sponsor her sister or brother. Then you are required to make over $22,887 a year. Now the figure her friend is eluding to is most likely how much to add for each person above that amount. This appears to be $4,675. Say you sponsor her mother later. Add 4,675 bringing your need to 27,562. So in a way, by point of reference you are both correct.
  24. Yes which is great for someone who does have some type of service already, but Newday already has ITalkbb. Calling from China the way credzba instructs is absolutely free of charge without getting anything else.
  25. Same here. Never saw a notice. Mark your calendar.
