  1. Catherineli, I am also an Electrical Engineer, and my company may have an opening. If you would be so kind as to send me his resume, I will pass it on to my VP of Engineering. His boss would be either myself, or one other colleague of mine. Warren
  2. Never been, but always wanted to go! I'll be interested in the info also, Thomas
  3. Well, this is a different viewpoint, and may not be valid. In my days in the Navy, it was VERY common (ie: Dang near ALL the time) to see "fishing trawlers" that were just loaded up with electronic gear, ECM gear, sniffers, etc. hanging off the coast a few miles out. Back in the '70s, they were Russian and Chinese, mostly, catching whatever transmissions they could get. While in the Mediterranean, my destroyer had to zig-zag our way through them, there were so many, and we darn near had one try to commit boat-a-cide by cutting in front of our bow, while we were in war games in Guantanamo Bay, they were so close. That one was Chinese. The fact that the trawler tried to capsize purposely reminds me of similar tactics used by the phony "trawlers" back in the 70's to avoid possible boarding and discovery of the gear. Just sayin....
  4. Hope it was Great, Carl! Happy Birthday!
  5. My wife had her name changed as an adult. We listed her former name under "Other names used", but we also got a notarized and translated document that stated that my wife's old name and new name belonged to the same person, ID number XXXXXX. In other words, any references to Hu Yifang and Hu Jinkui were referencing the same person. The certificate was obtained at the police station, and we made a white book out of it. I don't know if that was needed or not, but we included it in the package of documents anyway. It was accepted, but never asked for. My wife passed her interview in December at Guangzhou (CR1) I will post a copy of this document in my gallery
  6. Hmm... recieiving pork chops..or the getting the ability to Pork? I'd go with the blow up monitor lizard.....
  7. Hi guys, Just a bit of data. My wife and stepson entered the US via O'Hare POE on January 26th. We received their green cards on Saturday, February 27th. It took almost exactly a month for them to show up.
  8. Happy birthday, Randy!! Enjoy it to the fullest!
  9. *sigh* Gotta love a good love story. I say we traipse over to China and start tearing down those signs, being so close to Valentine's day and all. We really don't wanna see others deprived of such a heart-touching experience. Obviously the powers that be are misconstruing the actions and are not "one with the people" Why...it's akin to campaigning against romance at it most fundamental form! Maybe make a poster.... "Don't spiiting at anywhere....hock a loogie on the one you love!" Who's with me?
  10. Hey there! I had a CR1 package that was submitted in the US. Once the fees were paid at the NVC, I was able to fill out the DS-260. That was on 9/25/15 On 10/21, I got a case complete from the NVC, so it took about a month. A few days later, I got the interview letter from the NVC - they had scheduled my wife's interview for December 9th. All told, about a month to review the docs, and then the interview was scheduled about a month and a half after that. From what I've been told (by an NVC operator i talked to), whether you have electronic docs or paper docs doesn't make a difference in review time at the NVC. My docs were paper, and it still took a little less than a month to review. From what I've heard, the NVC pretty much holds to that 30 day window for review. Also, if you are going through the NVC with a US-based I-130 submittal (not a DCF), the NVC now gives you an interview date after the document review. In the past, your documents had to travel to Guangzhou, and sit in customs for several weeks until they arrived at the US Consulate, and then the Consulate would schedule the interview. This is why the electronic process was faster - your documents didn't have to sit in customs. That isn't the case anymore. Now, evidently it doesn't matter, because the NVC schedules the interview.
  11. Dang, tsap, I'm with ya there. Mick just has a special talent for love stories! I got a tear in my eye, thinking about the romance of it all. Girl gets boy's attention, because of the hawking, lung clearing sound she purposely made for just that effect. Boy admires the consistency and trajectory of the expelled material as Girl hocks a big, well formed and artistically crafted loogie. I can just see the boy surreptitiously sliding his shoe over to intercept the love missile, in order to impress the girl with his acceptance of the gelatinous love note. Their eyes meet, and love is in the air. Why...this could be a blockbuster movie!!! Mick....your account of this could land you in Hollerwood!
  12. Oh my freakin' lord! Mick and tsap....In between the two of you guys, I damn near had an unsavory bladder accident from laughing so hard! Which...by the way, got me to coughing, which dislodged some leftover cold-related material left in my on danged lungs. Which got me to laughing harder and run for the men's room to a) make sure that I emptied said bladder, and b) got rid of the lung material in a somewhat dignified way. No half-gainers, and it wasn't worthy of a medal..... As they say in Kansas...you guys are a hoot n a half!

    Love the coffee instructions!
  14. I've gotten left holding the bag also. And here's a new one... "You get dressed too quickly" Translation, " I want my hour in front of the mirror to change my outfit at least three times, so slow down!" My lao po dresses impeccably....
  15. Dang! First off...who in the world thought up this for a bonus? Secondly, Tsap is right,...that flatulence sound is very disconcerting as they sail around the room backwards. Not that I have any personal knowledge of this, mind you, but the garbagemen still smirk at me and ask if I have any vinyl patch kits. Monitor lizards, huh? (taking notes). Maybe we oughta recommend them to this company.
  16. Excellent! Glad you managed to get through the CGI site ok. I'm also glad that they responded to you! You're one of the few, I think....lol.
  17. Thank you Ruby! I've been looking for Chinese recipes to cook for my family and your website will help a lot!
  18. And it's about 40 degrees in Hong Kong! Yifang and Keyu left early for Hong kong...thank goodness. The mountain roads in Hunan are closed due to snow also.

    What a cute grandson!
  20. My I-864 was filled in by RapidVisa, by information I gave them, so I didn't have to think about whether to put in N/A's or not. but in looking at it, ... Part 2 - #6 was N/A. The daytime telephone number had 16 digits (01186158*********) Part 3 - all of #3-27 had an N/A in each space. Part 4 - #2C, G and H were N/A. 4f and g were N/A. 12 was None, and 13 was N/A Part 6 - #3-14 were N/A. but 1b-1d were left blank. 17 was N/A. Part 7 - #1-4 were left blank, but 5a and b were N/A.. 7,8 and 9 were N/A. Part 8 - #1b was N/A as was 2. All of part 9 was N/A all of part 10 was left blank So it looks like N/A's are used a lot, None is used sometimes, and blanks are left sometimes. I'm not sure of the reasons why, but my 864 was accepted with no issues. I know that the I-864 is a sticking point that a lot of people have trouble with. I hope that this helps a little, and isn't too confusing!
  21. Hey there Buddy, "maybe that is the secret take the physical out and you really do have the like the person you are talking to" Well said, and hard to do, I know. When I was introduced to Yifang, I was certainly smitten as well. But I had also had the experience of being on a dating site where I was bombarded with ladies that (after a very short while) showed me that they didn't really care for me....they just cared that I was a westerner. The dialogue inevitably turned sexual, very quickly, and it was clear that this was the standard enticement method. I had pretty much given up meeting a decent, stable lady when I met Yifang. After meeting her, she also asked all the right questions, and was polite, but not at all like the ladies that I had met before. We talked about the problems she had with her son, and how to manage them. We talked about everyday life, her parents, friends, my family....everything under the sun. And as we talked, I knew more and more that this was an honest, kind, good-hearted woman with good values. I was hooked. Once we married, and I started the I-130 process, I was also scared sh**less of making a mistake. I got through it, but it was before I found these guys here. I found out that there were a lot of things I could have done, that I didn't. I ended up with an RFE that set us back a month, but it honestly wasn't something that could have been prevented, so I took the opportunity to send in a crapload of extra documents and relationship evidence - all things I learned from the more experienced people here. Since that time, every question I've had, has been answered by the good folks here. Now, I'm able to contribute a little myself. You'll make it through, buddy. And you'll probably make a few mistakes along the way. No worries....usually all these mistakes cost you is time, if anything. Keep a close eye on this forum and VJ...research the topics for the stage of the journey that you're currently at and the next one. The good folks here won't steer you wrong. And your sweetie will be here before you know it! Tsap is fond of saying "Everyone gets the visa"....it's true...all it takes is persistence and time. Good luck, buddy! Warren
  22. Go get 'em, Perry! i know that you're leaving soon to head over there. These guys will steer ya right. I had my ex-wife's death certificate with me, but never had to show it. You have your ducks in a row now, so enjoy the visit with your sweetie over there, soak in all the beauty of where you are, and enjoy being with her! I was like a yokel in the middle of NYC...looking around everywhere....everything was so different and lovely! Have a great time! Warren
