  1. Keep on keeping on Randy. Glad to see you at home. At least that is worth a lot.
  2. My wife has PTSD when it comes to pathogens of any kind and I mean she really goes ballistic too. Way over the top. I see the infractions all the time even in hospitals and what is with wearing a face mask and leaving your nose uncovered. How ridiculous is that? Doctors wearing a mask that you can put two fingers between the side of his/her face and the mask. Wast of a mask. May as well throw it in the trash and save you some discomfort.
  3. That is quite a feat of construction. I would love to see the results the turds that were working on my mother's old house could have turned that into. She fired them.
  4. The wife is getting humped backed now from lack of calcium. She has to take a medium amount of supplements every day now and she just got back from the dentist at the University of East Carolina and she is going to have surgery to save her jawbones from lack of calcium and gum disease and having her teeth straightened three times now. That ought to be fun to pay. And fun for her to endure. She brushes them three times a day but she does not do it like she has been instructed. I have been on her hind parts about it for 20 years with no results so now she will have to pay the price. She will have to have some flesh removed from the roof of her mouth and grafted onto the front of her teeth too. Never a dull moment with a Chinese woman. She has another more serious problem that we can not talk about here that she is going to have to address sooner or later. My guess is it will be later and to late.
  5. I hope they got it right and wish you a speedy recovery. I know you like it there but you have got to get out and see that grandson before he starts college. Just joking with you a little.
  6. I agree. That is the China that I like to see. My wife is a skyscraper hugger to the bone though.
  7. American women are to liberated for them and even for some of we American as well. Standards to high. So you get to live alone for some. That's my best guess. Chinese women's standards can be to high too as was brought out in the video.
  8. A lot of folks in China lie about where they have been in order to get out so the authorities don't know your mother n law so they don't know if she is telling the truth or not. I would try to do the same thing if I was in your place but you have to look at their side of the thing. They are trying to protect Americans. We just had a Chinese person slip through Shanghai from Wuhan and into ILM airport and he infected 5 of his friends and he still is not exhibiting any systems and they got suspicious of him and tested him and he turned out to be the carrier. So now we have 6 positive cases where out nearest case was Boston before.
  9. Good article Greg. I heard a doctor on the news explain it this way. First, you get the flu. The flu causes complications in weakening your immune system and then the pneumonia sets in and finishes you off or either bronchitis or both. So the route cause of your death is flu. That was how he explained it.
  10. You are exactly right Allon. We haven't had any nasty looks and nothing said to us. Everywhere the wife goes I go just in case and I have started to carrying Mr. 1911 you know just in case. There are some MS-13 guys that have taken up here for some reason. I guess the lack of law enforcement. This area has always been a very quiet part of the country so less need for law enforcement.
  11. Holy cow what is in that spray and those two guys with that motorcycle just fogged them over like it was nothing. Or is this just another farse showing the people look what we are doing for you to protect you.
  12. I think it was Wuhan. Most of the geographic data isn't very useful, since it's almost always contracted in Wuhan and then traveled somewhere else. That is just what she told me.
  13. I think that the guys covered the pool and car issues very well. The insurance on your house will be much higher with a pool. Having a high fence around it may help some if you can lock it but that doesn't look very well. The problem is small children fall in them and drown and local teenagers and even pre-teens will pay it a visit when you are not at home and sometimes they drown. I think you get the idea. Blueberries are perennial. Look on the internet and find these companies. https://www.eburgess.com/ https://www.burpee.com/ https://www.gurneys.com/. They will send you a catalog and they are free. You make your purchase and they will hold the order until it is time to plant them in your area to give them the best chance for survival then they will send them to you. On the blueberries, I would dig a hole for the roots, as they will send you a plant already 3-4 feet tall, then spread out the roots and stick them in the hole cover them up and leave kind of a small bank of dirt around them and water every day for the first year. Not to much though. About 2 quarts of water. Some times they will send the plants with dirt on the roots in a burlap bag in that case just remove the bag and bury the rest put them deep enough to cover about 1-2 inches above the rootball so as not to smother the plant. The roots have to breathe. When it rains a lot don't water. You may drown them. I would try my garden again and not put much cow pies in there say something like a small handfull mixed with the dirt. Like GregD said to much nitrogen especially if it is fresh. Once you get your catalogs you can decide what you want and they will send them to you at the appropriate time. I like the last company the best. Some companies will replace the plants, like blueberries, even after a year for free if they die. It is about planting time now where I live but not where you live I don't believe. They will give you a planting table of when to plant. I think GregD is very close to you if my old memory serves me right.
  14. Here is another good site that I use. It was put up by Johns Hopkins CSSE. https://gisanddata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6
  15. The wife just told me that from her Chinese sites they are saying that an American in China just died from the Coronavirus. She didn't say what city.
  16. Congratulations to your son on his promotion. You must be very proud of him as you should be. It may have been the cow pies that made everything grow so fast that everything went to the plant and not to the production of any fruit. I use to make compost from horse dung for my mother and my wife to put on flowers. Good stuff but it can't be to fresh or it will burn them. Blueberries grow very well here. My neighbor has had some bushes for about 20 years and they produce prolifically and with only being planted straight in the ground and no supplements. But it does depend on what kind of soil you have. The best thing about them is that they keep giving you fruit year after year. So glad to hear from you and your son. Please come by more often. There are not many of us old-timers left now and the new guys don't carry on a conversation much. I think that most just want information. Best of luck Larry
  17. I am kinda with Greg. Everyone's body reacts differently even with the same medical condition. I know ever since I had those 2 cardiac stents that were very special and only a hand full of doctors in the country can do them I have suffered physically ever since. I am not in pain but have just gone downhill ever since the procedure. No physical exercise helps. The blockage was in the largest artery going to my heart and was 80% blocked. My doctor told me he could not understand why I had not been falling down or passing out. When it gets warmer I am going to try to get out more and get more exercise. Anyway, this is about you and not me. What we want is for you to get better and get out of there because "in my opinion from my experience" the more you lay there the weaker you may get.
  18. Hi, Catherineli. Honda Accords was the car of the year for many years. Had an aunt that had one for over 15 years and never had anything wrong with except for the air conditioner and that was well over 100,000 miles. I have never had one but I have had a Toyota and it lasted me 118,000 miles on it and then I gave it to my stepson and he gave it to his stepsons and they wreck it. Only had to change the oil, oil filter, air cleaner and put several batteries in it. Never had to replace the brakes on it. They were the old drum-type brakes. One of the most dependable cars that I have ever owned and the most economical to drive. I will say one drawback of any foreign car is that replacements parts are very expensive. I can't tell you anything about the Subaru's I never had one. If I could afford to buy a new one you will have a good warranty. Bumper to bumper for 3-4 years and the engine and drivetrain is usually from 50 to 100 thousand miles. Most likely 100 miles on a car like you are looking for but on something like a Corvette, it will be more like 50,000 miles. I don't think you want anything like that. Good to hear from you. Come by anytime and say hi to us we oldtimers miss you. How is your son doing? Larry and Liren (Lee) is doing well and says hi.
