This is exactly what i'm talking about ... before coming here i never knew about registering anywhere .... i agree ... read all the faq's ... they are important .. but even these can be cunfusing to someone just starting out .... and this is why i say to any new people ... read the faq's, ask the questions ... and don't feel bad if you get a little ribbing .... the information is great ... and the ribbing is all in fun. And after you get the info you need for the visa .... then you can learn about the Cheeto's and the Mop slapping B)

I am writing this to anyone who is just starting the Visa process or will in the future! I have learned so much in here that i should have come here long before i did. I read everything i could find online before i started the process ... but i learned nothing compared to what i learned in here. Nowhere did i find where it said to keep reciepts, get lots of pictures of both you and your SO AND family together, about hotels, the consulate in Guangzhou, and all of the other things i have learned from the people here. I was (am) one of the lucky ones. We didn't have pictures with the family, i didn't keep most of the reciepts, i didn't save the airline boarding passes or alot of the other things they could ask for. But we got the Visa Like i said .. we were very lucky. there is so many things we didn't do .. things i didn't know about before i come to CFL. So if you are new here ... ASK THE QUESTIONS, EVEN IF THEY SEEM STUPID, I am very happy i found this website and i have learned so much, Jing and i still have a long way to go. But with the people here i feel i know alot more and will continue to ask, ask, ask and hopefully someday i will have the knowledge that the people of CFL have and i will be able to help someone else.

I'm sure it could be changed at a Chinese Embassy ... but i don't think she could " send " it .. she would have to take it in along with a copy of marriage licence and current visa and anything else pertaining to her being in the US.. the only Embassy i know of is in Washington DC ... but i'm sure there are others.... i think i remember someone saying there is one in Chicago and one in New York ... has to be others around somewhere. Check online for Chinese Embassy's and do a locate ... should be easy enough

I am moving from a furnished apt. to a 3 bdrm house ( unfurnished ) She tells me ... " you don't buy furniture until i get there .. you know nothing about decorating " I tell her .. but honey ... i have no furniture accept a bed so where will i sit .... she tells me " throw bed away we will get a new one " i ask her ... where will i sleep ... she tells me ... you sleep where you sit until i get there ... so i'm assuming she wants me on the floor until February Guess i need to go get a cpl new lawn chairs to sit on and a lounge to sleep on until Feb ... that way i can tell i her i already had them for the beach I tell her she is to bossy .... then she gives me that big, beautiful smile and she tells me ... i'm not bossy ... just smart

Alot of people make the big mistake of trying to file for EAD before AOS on a K-1, you can try, but it is a big waste of $$ and time. EAD takes about 90 days to get, and K-1 I-94 is only 90 days, EAD based on K-1 is the 90 day EAD which expires same time as I-94 card, so if it takes 90 days to get EAD based on K-1, you end up with either an EAD with a few days left on it, or are denied because USCIS cannot issued an EAD card based on K-1 after the I-94 expires. File for EAD with AOS, it is free with AOS and is valid for 1 year. The code I mention is on form I-765, many ask what code to use on that form, it is (c )(9 ) NOT (a )(6 ). working on it ... but it gets confusing real fast B) So get married first ...Get legal copies of marriage license, then apply for SSN ... get CS to transfer the yellow book. Then file the AOS and EAD together. Get all this in order and then have it pinned so I can find all these answers in a few months as well!!! B)

Ok everyone ... i have counted on you all in the past and you never let me down. Now i'm asking for help again. I want to be able to file everything we will need for Jing when she gets here but this time NOT hire a lawyer. What i need is simple to understand steps to what we have to do. We will apply for SS card and State ID card as soon as she gets here and get married... and be very happy together So whats next ?
