  1. Congratulations to you both ... And Merry Christmas I already know you'll have a great New Year
  2. ---------- I've posted this here in the hopes it receives better reception and response; If you can't stay to topic nor avoid baiting comments.. stay out of the thread or risk being deleted. Let's have a civil discussion if that's possible. I'm not sure that there can be far-reaching international agreement at all on what to do; it will probably fall mostly to independent measures being applied domestically. I do think that those at the top of the heap should curb their appetite more so (and I mean measured by population, so per capita). My final hope is that some countries will not hide behind the "it will hurt our economy" cry... if you sleep in your bed, you should make it as well. I read this article in the Chicago Tribune today and very thought provoking!! Yes we as the world leader need to take a real stance and help in curbing this problem. But.....how many here?? 1. Recycle?? 2. Use E85 fuel?? 3. Drive a vehicle that gets over 25 mpg?? 4. Turn your heat or A/C down and use a programable thermostat?? 5. Have your vehicle's A/C serviced properly and not allow freon into the air?? 6. Keep oil and other stuff down the drain?? 7. Etc.. I recycle, Drive a car that gets about 32 mpg, use a programable thermostat in my home, have my AC serviced at a reputable dealership, and never pour anything onto the ground .... no chemicals of any kind. We don't have E85 fuel here yet. I work for the Parks and Recreation dept for the county i live in and recycling is very important, and i live on the Gulf of Mexico ... If you've ever heard of " Red Tide " you'd understand why i'd never put anything into or onto the ground. the rest is just common sense stuff everyone should make it a habbit of doing without thought.
  3. I've just spent the last 3 evenings watching this movie ... or the 3 discs that come and it was great, I thought i knew alot ... but there is so much i didn't know before. Thanks for the suggestion
  4. Maybe i'm confused here but ..... you want to get a visa for your stepson who's 8 correct? What i don't understand is the mention of son in-law? is it you are confusing son inlaw and stepson?
  5. Yep made that point very clear to Jing
  6. Nope - you got it right - but look at his visa. It expires in 6 months. What they say is true IF you wait for 6 months or longer AFTER the K-1 to get the K-2 visa. well DAMN! why don't they say that ... i wouldn't be so confused
  7. I have just gone back to the consulate webpage and read again what i saw before ... this is taken directly from travel.state.gov "The child may travel with (accompany) the K-1 parent/fiance`) or travel later (follow-to-join) within one year from the date of issuance of the K-1 visa to his/her parent. A separate petition is not required if the children accompany or follow the alien fiance`) within one year from the date of issuance of the K-1 visa." am i reading this wrong or does it say his visa is good for 1 year after date of issue ?
  8. I don't mind paying the $100 and all of her documents are new so they won't expire before then ... He's 16 and just wants to finish with his friends is all ... he will come if we have no other choice ... but if it's possible i'd like to postpone so he can com in July instead of the beginning of May. And Jings brother is a teacher ... he offered to make sure we got all the records and have them translated for us
  9. Have you read this "What to do before she arrives."? It is funny! http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4673 Man ... and i thought i was doing alot by moving the telescope ..
  10. I think it's just that people are becoming better prepared with all the help they get in here ... at least it helped us .... That and alot of luck getting just the right person for the interview
  11. I have a new question for you all and hope you can help. As you know Jing and her son have received their Visa's ( or will when she picks them up today ) Problem is ... my fault .. i read the US Embassy page wrong or misunderstood it to say that Johns visa would be good for 1 year. I guess this is not the case ... it's only good for 6 months. Because of school issues we would like to extend it until august so he can finish his school year there and start the new school year here in Florida ... how do we extend his visa and when do we do that ? any ideas ?
  12. Thank you ... so he has 6 months from date of issue
  13. A BIG CONGRATULATIONS to you two!!!! I started painting 3 months ago and haven't stopped since....if it moves...paint it...if not...throw it out....Tossed a lot of trash (and nice stuff too!!!) ...a lot of consolidating...a lot of new shelving....did i mention painting? I've got a crew coming in this weekend for a couple of hours to clean EVERYTHING (and my house is pretty clean). I want shiny clean. A nice, new-looking house for the start of our new lives!!!! Good luck to you two again and stay in touch. A Florida gathering would be great!!! What i really want to do is move to someplce bigger before she comes but i don't think she's going to give me time ... we will have to move before her son comes ... i thought about painting ... not a bad idea. I already started cleaning out stuff ... bought myself a big shed for outside and put alot of stuff in there .... but this place is still pretty small ... been just me for a long time ... easy to keep clean for a single guy. Now i got to change all that. I will stay in touch ... and i look forward to a Florida get together
  14. Close - the K1 must enter within 6 months of the date of issue of the visa. The K-2 visa may be issued up to 1 year after the K-1. It must also be used within 6 months of the date of issue of the K-2. wait .. i re read what you said ... i think i understand The K-2 visa must be used within 1 year of the K-1's date of entry. They got them the same day She has 6 mos and he has one year? No - they each have 6 months fron the date of issue, which is the same day here. but you just said the k2 must be used with 1 year of k1's date of entry ... or is that if it's applied for seperatly? Wait ... i just re-read what you said ... you mean his could be ISSUED up to 1 year after hers K-1 has six months to come here, then 90 days to...... K-2 has a year to follow, and in rare cases extended for one more year. Yes ... i understand about the k-1 .. 6 mos to come here and 90 days to marry ... it's the k-2 i'm confused about. Jing and her son both got their visas yesterday ... i just need to know how long his visa is good for before he has to follow. She wants to come soon ... but he wants to wait until july or august will his still be valid ?

  23. Chilton, Took your advice when you first posted this and ordered the video, Like Griz said .. alot of it's well known ... but adding a face and seeing the footage brings it much closer. Thanks for the advice .... i will be watching the others i've seen listed here also ... history is of great interest to me and now i have a new history to learn.
  24. I just talked to Jing on the phone, She is 5 minutes from the Embassy and in one hour will be standing in line with everyone else ... including Ron and Li Ping, I asked if she was nervous and she said " Just Alittle " well .... i'm in Florida and i'm ALOT nervous .... I'm very confident that we did everything required and we have a briefcase full of the " kitchen sink " now if only they ask for some of it. Jing and i have gone over everything time and time again and she knows everything there is to know about me. Right now i'd like to say Thank You to everyone here who supported us and put up with me when it got down to the wire with her P4 .. you are all a blessing and i look forward to meeting all of you after Jing comes to America. I also want to wish everyone who's still waiting the very best of luck. Thanks again everyone ... Dave and Jing
