  1. Thanks dnoblett ..... The info on the nonimmigrant number was right on I made a mistake though ... the (a) number i am looking for is actually on the I-765 ... seems i remember someone said it should be something like (a) (9) or something like that ... just can't remember the number It's for the AE Application for Employment form question #16
  2. I'm sitting here filling out Jings I-485 and i'm drawing a blank here Where is her Visa number ... and which number is it that i put down for the (a) (?) ? Thanks for anyone who can help Dave
  3. You can tell us the truth, we will keep it quiet!! After being to China you could not make up your mind, so you said I will take TWO!! Nobody told me we could do that Now you tell me Dave, Dave, remember the thread about mop slaps!! Oh Yeah

  5. When Susan got here it looked to me like she brought everything she owned ... but now i am finding out what she didn't bring and what we can't find here so far #1 Spices , the asin market near us is " just ok " when it comes to having what she wants .. but it has spices for so many different places that it's hard to carry everything " ie Korea, Japan, india " and so on. #2 Clothes: Susan is small and says " clothes to much here " Understand .. she shipped 3 large boxes and carried 2 ( overwieght ) suitcases and tells me there is more on the way .. and include shoes in that ... she don't like the shoes here B) #3 Decorations for the home, she has pretty much removed my old stuff and put in all new " beautiful " stuff Guess she didn't like my silk painting of the dogs playing pool and remember ... she WILL forget something ... and she won't be able to buy it here ... so plan on going back to china in a year or so with at least one empty suitcase Now if only i can convince here that we DON'T have to buy vegetables in China to bring here we'll be ok
  6. Excellent !!!! Now was about that dust-mop ????? WHOOSH ! I keep it hidden
  7. Yep ... made to and out of JFK without a problem ... glad i extended the layover though ... took all of 3 hours to clear Immigration and Customs ..and they misplaced her bags while she was in Immigration. But in the end all worked out fine ... we are home and she is happy ... took about 3 days for her to adjust to the time ... now she's cleaning and telling me what to do I did look at the websites you posted and so far haven't been able to do what i need ... i put her laptop on my desk and mimic the commands from mine to hers but it's not changing anything .. her's is staill all chinese ... I want her to be able to use her pc to talk with her friends and family ... and so far i can't get it to connect to my network ... not even if i use the cord ... not sure what to do but i won't give up. and Jing says Thank you for the welcome Oh - the Dust Mop was not for cleaning, it was for whomping you upside the heid ! RE: Network stuff. Ug. You went side by side and it didn't work? when you connect the cable, is any light on either the hub or at the back of her machine? Do you see any different lights when a power cord is attached to her notebook? Sometimes there is some power saving mode, shuts off the ethernet adaptor, but turns it back on when the power cord is attached. At a bare minimum, I'd select DHCP and let yer router handle the rest of it. Then - fire up a CMD/DOS window, issue 'IPCONFIG' - see what it says. Thanks for the help ... now let me tell you what i did to make it work ( and i did it in chinese ) I went to the network connections and into the properties and turned off her DNS and server settings and told it to " auto find " connections ... and all is working great .... she also showed me this translator she has installed that when i put the curser over the chinese word it pops open a window and translates for me ... all is well now

  9. i'm certainly no computer geek, but i took a laptop from usa for my gal to use in china....hahaha...she doesn't use it much, but both her kids sure do...anyway....there are language settings in the computer, and while it will not make it all one way or the other, it certainly will help.....only other thing i can think of is just to get complete operating system, usa or chinese, whichever you prefer to run, and install it this way That would be great ... and just starting from scratch was my first idea ... but she wants to use chinese ... that i understand ... but i need to set her laptop up on my network and i can't read the settings in the laptop to do it .... she can have it all chinese if she likes ... but i have to make it all english for a short time
  10. How can i change Jings computer to english so i can setup her network. Everything is in chinese and she has no idea how to change it ..and niether do i. Also an easy program to switch my home PC from english to chinese and back ?
  11. I'm not sure about other women in China ... but my girl DEFINATLY knows all about Valentines Day. Fortunatly for me she will be arriving tomorrow so this year i can Give her flowers in person
  12. Am i correct in understanding that you received notice that your paperwork has been sent to NVC for processing? The Feb to July date means it's good for 6 months .... but they overlook that once GUZ receives it ... everything you will need to know for the P3 and P4 can be found at http://candleforlove.com/FAQ/CFL_FAQ_Interview_Final1.htm All the info is there
  13. Tony, Remember above all to have the time of your life. Nanning is a big, beautiful city with lots to do and see, The food is great and the people are friendly. If you are staying with your girl at her place, it would be a good idea to register just to be safe. If you are staying in a hotel don't worry about it. Take comfortable shoes because you will do alot of walking, Take warm clothes because i know it's cold there right now. Take lots of pictures because you are going to want to remember every minute of it. and remember to keep an open mind. China is a wonderful place... but very, very different from anything in the US. Have a great time, and if you see Jing ... tell her i love her and to hurry it up ... i miss her
  14. Jim, if it's Nanning don't think it will be that cold. Jan. and Feb. are in the 60's after March, it just gets hot. Really ... OK ... my bad ... back to China geography lessons! I remember fighting for control of the ac in Oct. Feb. was comfortable B) Just 5 minutes ago talked to Jing in Nanning, It's around 38 there and wet and cold ... dress warm and try to stay dry if possible She will be in Sunny Florida in 12 days
  15. Congratulations CBS ... to you and your family Dave and Jing
  16. Yes, of course they know the difference. In K1 cases, they can and do ask to see the engagement and dinner photos at interview. Hmmmmmm... thery never asked to see ours ... just to see some pics of our travels ... and it's a good thing too. We don't have any engagment or dinner pics
  17. Congratulations mark ...... now get busy and find a new place to live

  19. My girl speaks pretty good english ..but she is still learning ... she just asks me if i understand when she tells me something. most times i do understand her ... but there are times i have to ask her to repaet it. Thats about it
  20. Mark ... i'm sorry to hear about your problems with GUZ .... but even if your Daughter can get an interview, the visa will expire before she comes here so she will have to go back anyways .... if she interviews on Jan2 ... it will expire June2 ( 6 Mos ) you say she can't come until Aug. when she is done with school .... I'm no expert here but i think she will have to go back either way. Hope i'm wrong .... Good Luck Dave
