  1. Thanks Lee. I apprecate the help and pep talk. Nothing else to do, but to move forward!
  2. Hi all, Hope all is doing well. It's been a while since I been on here or had access, since the economy is so bad and trying to get a job was just as hard. Anyways, I needed some expert advice from you guys. I was suppose to file I-485, and the rest of the other forms back in August, we also gotten married. I had gotten a part-time job, had some family issues and lost the job. Fast forward, I finally moved in with a family member and my SO. I need to file these forms and get everything together. I've got tax transcripts from my sister and myself, she's got pay stubs and will be my co-sponsor. I don't an any health insurance as evidence, do have a bank account, but I only have 2k in there. I've got a credit card joint with her. So, with what I got, is it sufficient enough? Also, will I be penialized in some way? Last year and this year was the worst for me, I've always made 120% above the poverty level. Now I just make $10/hr and trying to make ends meet and it's got me down and worried about filing. Any help would be appreciated. I hope everyone else is doing much better and hopefully this new year will get better. thanks.
  3. Getting the SS card is quite fast, my SO got her SS card in 10 days or so. Just need to fill out some forms and wait, it'll be in the mail before you know it.
  4. Wow...thanks for the heads up. Good to know there are some other ways to save some $$ these days. Thanks.
  5. georgeandli, thanks for the info, it's good to know that there are some people that have gone the bare minimum and gotten the GC. I'd like to hear if anyone been in the same or similar position that jingjoseph is in and what their outcome is. rob&jin, thanks, something to consider. what is a rfe?
  6. Ok, not sure if someone is looking over me or not...but I hope so. I've officially gotten an offer letter, but it's for part-time work only. I guess I'll be over the poverty line making $12/hr getting 35 hours a week...which is 1/2 of what I use to make. Anyways, beggars cannot be choosers at this point. I'm not much over the poverty line, but it does help. Does anyone know if it would work against me if I make only a few thousand over the poverty line? Thanks for the heads up AmyandDoug, think I'll try my best to get all the documents and paper work, even if I'm slightly delayed in sending my packet in. And thanks DaveZ.
  7. Yes, I'm filing AOS the I-485 and everything else that goes with it. I've been trying to get a job for the longest time, but just bad luck with the economy. Anyways, I haven't filed yet. We gotten married and it's like 120 days or so, I figure I better file even without a job. I'm hoping that the transcripts would all be needed...I'm at a part time job now. I just started and don't even have a paystub yet. So... that's where I stand. I've been reading about co-sponsoring, but the rest of my family members are having a hard time like the rest of the world. Anyways, I wanted to see what other options I had...since I rent and not own. We do have a savings, I've some stocks...but in my and my sister's name. Other than that...hope to have luck on my side. Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.
  8. Ok, my situation is that I've been out of work for 9 months now and I've been trying to get work, but the economy really sucks bad. I've finally gotten a part-time job. What I was wondering is if we really do need a letter of employment and some pay stubs? Could I just use my 3 years of tax transcripts to show for support? For last year, I've made well over the poverty line and my tax transcripts show it. I know, I know I could get someone to co-sponsor... the fact is that everyone in my family is roughing it out bad as well. Has anyone ever tried just using tax transcripts? thanks.
  9. Does anyone have a sample of what the cover letter format should be? Should each form have it's own cover letter as well? (i_864,i_693,i_765, etc.)
  10. Glad I read this thread, I'm filling out the I-765 and I put (A)(6) myself...reread the instructions several times and you're right. Thanks dnoblett
  11. Thanks Dale. Another question, should I apply for her as the applicant (part1) or should apply with my name as the applicant (part1) and her name on part 2? thanks.
  12. Part 1, question 3. Class of admission, what does that mean? Part 3, question 1. Date of intended departure. Do we need a definite date for this part? Not sure when she would be going home. But I was hoping to get my SO traveling docs while we waited and if she was home sick she could visit home. thanks.
