  1. Anybody heard anything from the Triggster? The last thing I heard was what sounded like a wet mop slap, followed by some choice words about not mentioning sheep during the interview.
  2. I presume you're talking about the exam that is needed in conjunction with the interview at the consulate. The consulate's website lists the hospitals: http://www.usembassy-china.org.cn/guangzho...edicalexam.html. We used Health Care Center of Guangdong International Travel and were pleased.
  3. You're getting real close, and the finish line is in sight. Good luck.
  4. The idea of a national get together was raised a while back, and Las Vegas sounded like the concensus location, despite my preference for a hub city like Atlanta ( ). It never got off the ground, but the upcoming Portland get together is taking on some of the earmarks of a national thing.
  5. Welcome. You have now put your toe in the water. Over the next year or so, you'll be up to your neck in bureaucracy, and every now and then our government will throw you a brick just to see how you're doing. Fear not. The folks folks at Candle will try to throw you a life jacket to help keep you afloat.
  6. Sounds like everything's done except for finding an interview slot. You're getting close.
  7. Things may have changed a little since we filed for AOS, but after we filed, we got an I-797 acknowleding receipt and directing us to contact USCIS to schedule biometrics. We had paid a separate fingerprinting fee when we filed. We took the I-797 with us, Jingwen and the kids got their fingerprints done again (they had already gotten it done at the POE when they first arrived), and the I-797 was then stamped with something like "biometrics completed on such and such a date".
  8. Atlanta's Chinese community is estimated at about 50,000 of the total 250,000 estimated Asians living in the metro area. Incidentally, according the 2000 census data, the majority are mainland Chinese. Yes, the chinese that live in the north Atlanta areas all live mostly in middleclass to affluent areas of the city. Many own businesses here. I read somewhere that the median annual income for mainland Chinese in Atlanta is about $58,000 and about $85,000 for those from Taiwan - not bad for an immigrant community.
  9. Just tell them the Civil Surgeon already made the copy. If it's not there when they open the envelope, curse the Civil Surgeon, claim ignorance, and give them 25 cents to make the copy for you. Actually, my Civil Surgeon gave me a copy of something when we went, but I don't think it was a copy of the I-693. If I had to bet, I'd say it's not a big deal Trigg, but I'm not speaking from experience. Good luck tomorrow.
  10. Would you be surprised if "wait" is what you do now? How long you will wait for the interview will likely depend on where you're located.
  11. Sounds like GZ is filling in some of the gaps in the scheduling. Good luck.
  12. I realize the above is addressing a K-1, I-134 but IF processing an I-864 at NVC GET the IRS letter1722 for efiling. Also TWO of my efile returns (one done by a private CPA and another done by a national known tax service) have a LARGE dot matrix "COPY ONLY" over the signature area on the back of the 1040 form. Agreed. DOS is looking for something from IRS if you are using the I-864: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/in.../info_1329.html. For my I-134, I just used my file copies with a certification (by myself) that the copies were exact copies of the originals sent to IRS. I had requested transcripts, but they didn't arrive in time.
  13. J and Michael. I've posted this before to help others keep track of the time: http://dorkinout.com/clock/clock.html
  14. Good news on the P4. I would certainly hope that medical dispensations on the x-rays, etc. would be accepted by GZ.
  15. AP is only good for entry back into the US - kinda like a single entry visa. I don't think it'll do your SO any good to try to use it to gain entry into Hong Kong unless she is in transit back to the US.
  16. Try looking here: http://candleforlove.com/forums/index....41b67ddc82e1fc3
  17. K-1 filers actually have two EAD choices. First, they can file for an EAD immediately (prior to AOS) if they choose, but this EAD can't be renewed. In the alternative, you can file for EAD when you file for AOS. Most people skip the first EAD and just wait until they file for AOS to get the EAD. This EAD can be renewed as needed. If you choose the non renewable EAD, you'll have to re-file fresh when it expires since it can't be renewed. Why bother when you can get a renewal EAD?
  18. Good news. For all intents and purposes, it's over.
  19. Atlanta's Chinese community is estimated at about 50,000 of the total 250,000 estimated Asians living in the metro area. Incidentally, according the 2000 census data, the majority are mainland Chinese.
  20. Sheep and plenty of them. Just ask The Great One. Sorry, couldn't resist.
  21. Congratulations. For round two, you might start here: http://www.visajourney.com/faq/k1faq.htm
