  1. Go ahead and get the I-129F info while you're there. Although I was K-1, I think you'll need the I-129F for the K-3 as well. You might also check out http://www.visajourney.com/faq/k1faq.htm and http://candleforlove.com/forums/index....f09ba45577b915d
  2. Congratulations and welcome back into the fold.
  3. To quote a Chinese proverb: "Experience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first, the lesson afterward." Sorry to hear that things did not go as planned.
  4. Let me add my congratulations as well. Glad things went so smoothly for you two. For the majority of mainlanders, I guess the phrase "one country, two systems" also applies to the US consulates. Best wishes.
  5. Hmmmmmmmmmm my MM always says Da Bai Chi, I don't think it means the same Are you sure she's not saying dui bu qi (I'm sorry)?
  6. Out of the frying pan and into the fire. Having completed a 1+ year ordeal to get the K-1/K-2 for Jingwen and the kids, I am now back in the queue for AOS - sent the docs today. Unfortunately, Atlanta will handle the paperwork.
  7. Oh, to have such a problem with too much money. Unfortunately, my ex already got her claws on what little I had.
  8. So glad to hear that everything went well for Mei. Now, get ready for the ride of your life.
  9. The VO may have already asked Bing if she speaks English. If she said no, then the VO might find it suspicious if she were to come in with a tape of her speaking the language. Maybe this is why the VO wants to see Carl speaking Chinese.
  10. This is the most unexpected news I've heard. What a pisser. Carl, you have an army of letter writers here, and I'm sure many of us would be willing to write in on your and Bing's behalf - don't know how much good it'll do, but we're here for you. Try to get some specifics from Bing on exactly what the VO wants. Does she want to see you speaking Chinese by yourself? Is she looking for a tape of you two talking? How long should the tape be?. When I've heard of this in the past, it is usually a request for a five minute tape of of the two people conversing with each other. If this is your case, you'll probably have to go to China so you two can be together to produce the tape. One thing I do want to mention. Just like in the movies or on TV, making a tape requires some "rehearsal", if you know what I mean. Let us know how we can help. Frank
  11. We had a similar problem with a missing P3. Turned out that GZ didn't have the address in Chinese. Ended up e-mailing the address, and we got the P3 about a week later. This little snafu cost us about 2-3 weeks, but they did respond to my e-mail inquiries.
  12. One small step for GZ. One giant leap for Patrick and Li. Hang in there.
  13. Carl, some of us have posted this link before, but here's a little something to help you pass the time. http://www.lares.dti.ne.jp/~yugo/storage/m...crafts_ver3/03/
  14. I was talking to a friend today who practices immigration law here in Atlanta, and we got on the subject of the processing times for the AOS for K visa holders. She said that the typical processing time was about six months. I said I had heard about waits (Mick) much longer than that. Her response caught me a little off guard. She said that there is an informal priority given to K visas, and her clients get through in about 6 months. She said that every now and then someone takes longer, but it's usually because the processing personnel forgot about the priority processing. She said a few phone calls or follow up were needed to get the applications back on track. Her advice to me is to make sure the envelope indicates that this is a K visa AOS and that the transmittal letter again indicate that the AOS is for a K visa holder. I don't think she was trying to get me to use her services, nor do I know how much truth there is in what she said, but I figure it won't hurt to make sure Atlanta knows that the AOS's that I'm filing this week are for K visa holders.
  15. My sense is that NVC gets the files in about 1-2 weeks after approval. Mine reached them in 6 days from TSC. I have heard of one case in which the individual's files were lost in "transit" to the NVC. Actually, it turned out they were never sent. TSC finally found the files after the petitioner's governmental reps started making inquiries. This was discussed on another board. You might try a search there to get some of the details. http://pub103.ezboard.com/bk1advocacygroup
  16. You hit the nail on the head - no control over this last step. Not to worry. You've done everything right, and the visa will be issued.
  17. Why Husband #32 Q. Why did the phone company charge you too much for the phone and then send you the money? A. It's called a mail-in rebate. Some people forget to ask for the money, so the phone company gets to keep it.
  18. Good (I think). What state are you in? Do I need to inform my insurance carrier?
  19. Sorry, EMS = Express Mail Service As weird as it sounds, I think the EMS mail goes to the hotel first. I guess you could use regular mail, but I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with that - no tracking number. Some people have talked about hand delivery of the P3 documents, but I'm not familiar with the procedure.
  20. I have said this before, but I firmly believe that the decision on the visa has already been made by the time the interview rolls along. So, in my view, have your wife answer the questions truthfully and everything will be fine.
  21. I have heard mention of the White Swan for two reasons. First, it is my understanding that EMS deliveries to the consulate, for example if you send your P3 documents via EMS, actually get delivered the White Swan Hotel first. Second, a number of people have stayed at the White Swan during the interview process. It is very convenient to the consulate, but it is a bit more expensive than the other hotels on the island.
