  1. Ok, I finally recieved the last 2 pieces of mail for a while. 1. The decision on her permanent resident status: She is CR-1 and will be IR-1 soon. It took two applications for this to happen. The second one mainly consisted of friends + family affidavits. I had them all notarized. About 9 in all. The more the better! 2.ASC appointment notice. Doing the same things we did in Guangzhou only in Baltimore,MD. What do we need to take for this final appointment? We need the 2 letters, current green card, and passport. Anything else you would recommend? Do we need to fill out any more forms? I sure don't want to do that! Will they do all this at the USCIS office? Any tips for getting around in Baltimore? What next?
  2. I should clarify: I should have mentioned we are trying to get her CR-1 lifted so she will have the 10 yr green card. We married in China and have been together for 3 years. We sent Vermont everything but the kitchen sink and they wanted more in order to prove it is not a fake marriage. So, we got 8 more affidavits, insurance cards, life insurance, bank statements, photos , wedding DVD. We sent more than this the first time but they still want more. Very annoying!
  3. Hey! We are currently in what I believe to be the final stages of the visa process. We also really want to move from our current home. Do you guys think this would be a good idea right now? I know about the change of address form(had to do that once before). I don't really trust the local post office to forward our mail in a timely fashion. Our mailman leaves undeliverable letters laying around the mailroom. I don't want to be one of these and I'm reluctant to move, but my wife is more willing to take a chance...
  4. We live a "utilities included apartment" and sent our lease agreement that lists both of us We sent the joint tax returns, photos, and insurance and so much else! Did the I-797 mention about extention of green card for 1 year? It did not mention anything about extension for 1 year. We already recieved a seperate message extending the green card for another year. That was in the summer. I just saw on the news that DHS is "cracking down" on fraudulent marriages. I wonder if we are just caught up in this?

  6. Hi! I've been coming to this forum for some time and thought everything was going fine with the process of lifting restrictions, but some time after I filed our I-751(we sent lots of info!) I get a blue I-797 saying that the evidence submitted was not sufficient to determine a bona fide marriage. They ask for : 1.Birth Certificates of children(we don't have any kids) 2.Lease or morgatge contracts(sent already) 3.Joint Financial Records(sent) 4.Other(sent) 5.Affidavits(sent) I am disturbed by this because we have already been married 3 years and I don't know what else to send. Has anyone else been in this situation? Could you guys provide some advice? Should I get a lawyer? Will we be interviewed? Thanks!
  7. Hey guys, I haven't posted in forever. Mainly because everything went super smooth and we made it over to the the USA with no problems. We recently moved to D.C. but I'm thinking...shouldn't we notify some office of our move? I just can't remember exactly which one. If one of you guys could help me out I would appreciate it. Thanks!
  8. If we were to leave the USA for longer than six months while I worked overseas would she lose cr-1/green card/permanent resident status? I remember the visa officer saying something about this in Detroit, but I was a bit jet-lagged and didn't get it all. Is there anyway we could get around this since it is job related? A permit of some kind or something? Thanks all! -Matt
  9. My wife is worried that we will miss our plane when we fly into Detroit from Shanghai and the immigration people question her. We have about an hour and a half until our next plane leaves for "Sweet Home Alabama". She told me some of her friends from 001 have been detained for up to 3 hours by immigration. What was the average time your wives and fiancees have been detained? What should I do if I miss my plane because of this? Matt
  10. hi, this is treetree, matt's wife. i feel great if the interview talk i posted could really give any info. actually i have a long full report on 001 in chinese . a detailed one about everything related to interview and body check, from the first moment i got to GZ to the very end. i would like to translate the report into english and post it here but it is 13000 words, maybe later... i am really tired from trip right now. and your ladies can always check on 001. as to the VO, really, she was nice to me. i did not mean to " chew her out " or get mad on her, just tried to make myself to feel free to talk to a VO is all. i wore smiles all the time we talked. all the vos need to stand there all the time , they could have a much better mood if they had any chair. and, to those who feel nervous: you know what i was thinking about during the loooong waitting in and out of the consulate in that ROUGH morning? i thought: i am honest, i respect american immigration law, i am " qualified " to be your immigrant, i have been co- operating so well----filling all the forms good, turnning in all the documents you asked for, collecting all the " evidence " you wanted, i flew all the way to gz for just an interview, and i got many holes on my body for the vaccination, and i paid a lot of my " bloody sweaty money " ( in chinese it means hard earned cash instead of money robbed from bank or whatever), and now, i am here to get my visa , it is just a piece of paper, actually vo is somebody here to serve me good , yes? there is no reason to deny my visa and that is impossible. that was how i felt before the interview. i had great pain of my stomach when i was in the fourth line there holding four large bags of " evidence ' . it was the tense atmosphere there made you nervous , i am sure i felt nervous there too and it caused my stomach ache. my nervous girlfriend min was there with me, she was k1, pregnant, poor girl suffered alot that day , she almost went faint and tried to help from vomitting all the time. she said she felt great when the interview was over and never felt like to vomit. if her beloved GG ever heard of this , i bet he will weep . there were also many moms holding little little babies and big big bags of "evidence" too, i really feel for them, i had tears . hi, guys, treat your ladies good ever ever. they all worked hard and suffered alot for just trying to be with GGs . drop a line here if there is any question treetree from 001.com
  11. Another tale from our trip... My wife met up with a girlfriend she knew from the 001 website. I bet many of you know this site, it seems pretty popular. This poor girl was so incredibly nervous that she had to come over to our hotel to have my wife comfort her. I coached her on potential interview questions and reviewed her husband's tax returns . I felt super nosy doing this but I figured it was for a good cause. I got to looking at his tax returns and it seemed like this man was in the poorhouse, but I knew this wasn't the case because I know he's a successful businessman. After a little prodding, she told me he was moving his $$$ into offshore bank accounts(!) to keep his hard earned dollars out of the clutches of his ex-wife. When she got denied it was for these financial reasons. I guess they could see something did not add up...so guys, own up to those swiss bank accounts or it could cause your lady some trouble...
  12. hi, you guys, this is my interview talk , could be a little help i hope. (treetree) I: Hi! Finally! O, I felt like I was waiting in a dentist office. plus lines outdoors. VO: I am sorry, I am sorry. (she looked tired too) We have too many people this morning,(i can't remember the exact words). I: I understand. You must have had a rough morning too. I mean, standing all the time… VO:I am sorry…May I have your passport? I:Sure. Wait a second… VO: Raise your right hand,… I: (read the stuff on the right side of the window) VO: O.K.. so, who applied for the visa for you? I: my husband Matthew VO: Oh~, Matthew, good. How did you meet each other? I: ********and he is really a wonderful man. VO: umm.. umm….that’s good. when did he come to China? I: after the Christmas in 2002. VO: when did you get married? I: *******in Hangzhou. ……..(i can't remember what i said ,but suddenly she realized matt is still in china) VO:Oh, he is still here? I: Yeah. He never left. VO: what does he do? I:he is teaching english in hangzhou.. ***university.... VO: that’s good. So, he was a student in 2002? ( She’s reading GG’s explanation letter on his ONLY tax return in his life for last year) I: Yes, Last year was his first year of working. He had to get his master’s degree before he came over. VO: O.K…. ( A long pause…. I noticed her nice blue shirt, it really goes well with her brownish-blonde hair.) VO: Since your husband’s income is so low, we… I: Yes, that’s why we made his dad be our co-sponsor… VO: Oh, here, ok. Let’s work on this… (checking on dad’s 864 and tax returns…) I: Dad is really a nice guy. VO: that’s very good.(still checking..) I: yeah, I am very lucky. VO: you two plan to go back to u.s.? I: yes, my husband is bored here. VO: when will you leave? I: well, I guess we will wait for him to finish up his contract. VO: when will that be? I: in the end of this semester. This summer. VO: ok, (slide a piece of paper under the window) please sign here ( that’s my DS230II ) I: ok, umm. In Chinese characters? VO: that is fine. (I saw her signed her name on some documents too.) VO: (get a white piece of note, give it to me through the window by a nice way ) could you come back on 12th to pick your visa? 4:00 pm. I: O.K. Monday, 4:00. Thank you. VO: You are welcome. Byebye. I: Thank you! Byebye. treetree from 001
  13. Well, the most nerve racking part is over for us, I guess. We left Hangzhou on a nearly empty 777, what a monstrous thing that was! I hate to fly, but it was smooth sailing in that baby, like a sky-caddilac or something. We got to Guangzhou and well, what can you say about Guangzhou except that it's a dirty mess! I was glad to get to the island. It's like a little oasis in that city. We stayed in the youth hostel across from the White Swan(make sure your lady stays in the White Swan!!!). When we checked in they made us show our marriage certificate. That's a first for me. The first night we rested, got photos, and made an appointment for 8:00 am. Do make sure your lady gets there at 8 because the place we were in(near the new Victory Hotel) got busy very fast. With that taken care of, we rested and shopped some. The next day we picked up her results and we were pleased to see she is in perfect health. Then we shopped some more On friday, april 9 she had the big interview. She went there around 8 and did not come out until 12:20. She had to wait in 4 different lines for this period of time. They were outdoors in the hot sun. When my wife was interviewed finally, she went to window 11 where a young woman with brownish-blonde hair interviewed my wife. My wife chewed her out for being made to wait so long! The interview went very smooth and there were no snags or hitches. We were both tired and relieved. She interviewed on Friday so we had to wait until Monday to pick up the visa. We decided to go to ShenZhen for the weekend. It turned out to be a pretty fun city. Lots of touristy things to do and plenty of shopping. We went to a amusement park called "Window on the World" where you get to see all the wonders of the world in miniature. Pretty cool place to waste a day. Next morning we went to "Minsk World" a real Russian aircraft carrier, the Minsk, turned into a theme park. I enjoy military history, so it was a real treat! To my surprise, my wife was into it too. It does seem like one of the stranger amusement parks ever. I guess it was once used to showcase military might, but I'm glad those missles don't have live nukes in them anymore, personally. We returned by train (1hr.) and got the visa. A pleasant time was had by all P.S. The Food on the Island: Buffet at the victory was good. Thai resturant was good and hot! French resturant was great(wife downed a few tequilas in there after the interview). Lucy's was great(went there twice). If you have any questions at all please ask and I will try to help in any way. My heart goes out to those of you who are not with your lady yet. Best of luck to all of you and thanks for the help, we could not have done it without this website. More Tales Later... Matt
  14. What are some of the typical questions the VO asks? I am curious... Interview on the 9th! Wish us luck! Matt
