  1. Doug, That's a really Great sig. you have. I like the links you placed to help guide others.
  2. Thanks Bryan, Some one here had this system as was having problems, but I think it is still worth a try, the monthly price is hard to beat. Is it expensive to get setup? I know enough about computers to cause trouble, Will it work with my AOL DSL? You could use it with DSL, but you will need a router as well as the analog - digital converter. So you would pay a slightly higher set up fee I believe... (I'm speaking of voip in general, not necessarily this specific service) Yes you will pay a setup fee ( one time charge = $39.95) you will also need to get a router as Jeikun said, but the VoIP interface unit is free. As far as working with DSL, you shouldn't have any problems as long as your service provider is sound. My total start up was $76.99. I consider this to be an acceptable fee compared to what I have already saved in the first month. My connections have been very good and the customer service is 24/7 and very helpful. I have only had one problem with my service and it was corrected in a matter of minutes. As far as the router goes, you can find a good cheap one (i.e. D-Link) for around $50 USD give or take Tax, etc. at just about any where that has a good line of computers and hardware. As I said before, go to the site and read about it. They will even explain anything you don't understand on line, over the phone. Good Luck! Bryan & Qunying
  3. For any of you that are using a DSL or High Speed Cable Modem, look into BroadVoice. It is a VoIP ( Voice Over IP ) phone system that allows you to get a calling plan with "Unlimited" calling to all USA and 21 country's ( Including China ) for $19.95 USD. I found this with the help from another CFL brother and it works very well. My wife has been here in the States now sense Nov. 25 and has used just a little less than 1900 minutes calling China and other Long Distance calls. So far my additional cost has been $0.00. Read up on this and save yourself a ton of money. Also you get a complete Outbound and Inbound call register by email or on line every month. Check it out and if anyone needs more information ( including how the system interfaces with your network ) then PM me or send me an email. I will be happy to talk to you about it! Bryan & Qunying
  4. I'm not sure, but your best bet is to use someone like Western Union. You could have your SO ask the bank what they will accept from American Banks.
  5. CONGRATULATIONS! I know Weiping must be doing flips! http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/18/18_14_107.gif Time for Celebrating! http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/8/8_14_7.gif Qunying and I are very happy for you!
  6. I'm one of the people everyone loves to hate most of the time until they discover I'm at their door to help out with any issues they have experienced! I am a Quality Control Inspector (Technical) for Comcast! I go behind the installation technicians, after the install or service and talk to the customer about the performance of that tech. I can have a very big impact on any of the contractors that perform poorly! It's a good job, and I have worked for Comcast for the past 11 years.
  7. I'm here! Benn taking the wife and daughter out shopping and looking at the Christmas lights. This has been a tactic to also help them to adjust to the time change. Been having a little problem getting on track. Thanks for the BD wishes. Talk to you all a bit later! Bryan & Family!
  8. Hello Everyone, First I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I know I did, in a non traditional but very rewarding way. I met up wife my wife in San Francisco about 2 hours before we were to fly out to Chicago. What makes this story interesting is I just about killed one of the ticket agents. I got to SFO 1 hour before my wife and daughter were to arrive. I asked at the information counter, where could I go to meet my wife. I told them she has a connecting flight, so they sent me to where she would be coming out to re-check he baggage. I waited and waited for 2 hours and she never came out. At this point, I was getting a little worried that something just wasn't right. So I started to ask different official people ( Air Lines, Customs, the janitor ) what was going on and how can I find my wife? ( Mind you, at this time, more than 2 hours has gone by and it's getting close to time to leave for Chicago, after hearing from just about everyone I contacted, telling me, "I'm sorry, but we can not tell you if your wife is here or not or has been detained in customs, that is the law!" .. I ask: "So, where and who do I need to see to find her?" ..... "Sorry, we do not know!" ) Not one of these people could send me in the right direction. ( except the janitor, I really had to go! ) After walking all over the international terminal I decided to go to the gate of our next flight to Chicago. ( not one time did those "IDIOTS" ever suggest to go to the gate and look ) I didn't go before because of the long line for security checks. Well ....... as I stepped off the moving sidewalk at the gate location my wife looks up and with a BIG smile, runs toward me and gives me a BIG Huge and kiss. Moral to this store is ...... "When in SFO looking for someone you have lost, It is easier to guess where they might be than to ask anyone for direction." We finally made to our home in Zion, Illinois where both wife and daughter are sleeping away the Jet Lag. To everyone else still waiting, your day will come soon. Happy Thanksgiving All! Bryan, Qunying & Ruixue
  9. Everyone, i want to thank you all for your warmest regards! It truly is and will be a Thanksgiving Occasion in my life and that of my wife and daughter. There are many firsts that will be happening in our lives together, such as Thanksgiving Dinner (I'm doing the cooking), Qunying's and Ruixue's first Christmas in the States ( We had our 1st Christmas together in 2002 ), their first chance to go sled riding! (that should be an eye opening experience). But best of all, our family will be together with many new adventures ahead. I am truly looking forward to these, regardless of the outcome. Everyone please take care and have a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving! Don't forget to thank the one person ( or whom your faith is with ) that made her for you and you for her! ...... http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/17/17_1_14.gif I will let you all know how things progress in a few days! Bryan
  10. He just called me on the phone, I'm goina' tell him .... nana nana na....na
  11. Hello everyone, Well as many of you know, my wife will be here in just a mater of hours now. She arrives at SFO at 11:55am. I will be meeting her there and, together, we will fly to Chicago. If there is anyone traveling to or from China, with a layover in SFO, then meet up with me!. I will be arriving in SFO at 10:46AM Nov. 25 on UA137. My wife, step daughter and I will be taking flight UA152 at 4PM for Chicago. It would be great to meet anyone coming or going the same way. Bryan

  13. Several things about some of the furniture my wife already likes! First, my "King Size" bed was in question at first until she learned that I got the bed several years after my divorce. She's OK with that. After she saw how big it really was, she decided that it will do! .... As for the daughters bed, my wife also agrees this bed will be OK, because it is a gift from my Parents. The carpet thing! ... She has no choice! Our home is a rented apartment! I did promise her that choosing the rest of the furniture is something that she and I should do together. After all, she and I chose the furniture in her house in China together! I told her it was only the right thing to do sense this will be her home also. My wife is very much OK with this. I think I will be safe when she gets here in "LESS THAN 1 WEEK"! ....... http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/23/23_6_122.gif
  14. Isn't that what "Home" is all about? http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/12/12_1_129.gif I know that in 8 days my wife will have the run of the house! I can't wait! It's time I had some good ol' culture added to my home. After all, this is her home too. If it wasn't for marring my wife, I would probably still be in a crowded, 1 BR apt. until, you know what, freezes over! I am very excited that my life is about to become crowded. I can only think about the good thoughts now. I know there will be bad days, but that will only be a scant few and far between. I have already told my wife that there are still many things I must do in the new place, but I left many things not completed because I want her to be part of any and everything I do. I feel like a kid at Christmas with only 2 days to go and my eye is on that one huge wrapped package that has my name on it, just waiting to have the paper torn off! http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/8/8_2_80.gif
  15. Believe Me! Use all the time you can to get things ready. My wife will be here Nov. 25 and I am going nuts! 3 weeks ago, I moved into a larger place and I still have boxes to unpack. I moved from a 1 BR to a 2 BR, so you can imagine how I need to go buy more furniture. My wife asked me to wait to buy this so she can help me. This week end, I am driving to my parents house to pick up a bed for my step daughter. I feel like I did when I was sitting on the edge of my chair trying to find out why my wife did not receive her P3. (Some of you might remember the first one got lost in the mail). The reality is setting in that after 16 months, my wife will finally be here! http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_2_1.gif http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_2_35.gif
  16. My wife, her daughter and I are going through this, this week. I have 2 checking accounts with my wife's name on them and she has the Visa / check cards with her. She has the money readily available for her at this time with no waiting. As for the plan tickets, my wife has found 2 tickets for her and her daughter priced at 5,050RMB (aprox. $618.12 @ $= 8.17RMB) per ticket. This is $250 per ticket, less than what I have been able to find through all the on line services, including flychina.com. Her flight originates in Chongqing with a 6 hour layover in San Fransisco and then on to Chicago arriving @ 10:08PM, Nov. 25th. I don't know what kind of schedule you are looking for, nut this seems to be the cheapest we have been able to find, this time of year. Good luck finding your tickets! Bryan BTW: The cost to us for ATM use is only $1.50 per transaction. Yhe first 2 are free. Are total fees for her to have this money will only be $6.00!
  17. sylinchinastill, I have to agree with you about this. I think, though in China, it always seem's to be more about "Status" than anything else. I must admit that before I started dating Asian women, it seemed that the only size you ever seen one was "Small". It wasn't until my first visit to China that I saw a Chinese woman that was not the American "Stereo Type" vision. I guess it's kind of like how many Chinese (and other countries) see many Americans as being rich!
  18. When my wife went for her interview, she said she had trouble understanding the VO's English. Whether the VO's English was poor or what, I don't know, but she did say that the VO quickly continued in Chinese and this helped my wife to calm down from being so nervous. The funning thing was, that two of the three questions the VO asked her, she answered back in English ....... Go figure! ....
  19. I'm surprised you have had bad luck with ATM's! That is all my wife and I use to get her money when she needs it. The only issue I have with the ATM's in China is that the ones my wife use will only allow her to get 4000RMB per day limit. So I set up a second account and sent her a card. The $1.50 per use ATM Fee is allot cheaper than any other method I have seen. As far as "Over - Budgeting" goes. That is a good idea. I did the same for my wifes plan tickets. That way she has enough money for any of those last minute expenses!
  20. It's got to be the Anticipation http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/10/10_1_19.gif of you and your MM being together sooner than you thought! I wish all the best and Good Luck! http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/23/23_28_109stc.gif
  21. Rick, I see you found your "Happy Place"! http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/14/14_6_16.gif
  22. Taz, I have been reading these posts and I can't help but think how my wife and I just had a talk about weight Loose and weight gain. I have been loosing weight for the past 4 months and I am pleased that I have lost 56 lbs. My wife is very happy about this. My wife, on the other hand, until about a year ago was about 95 lbs wet. She has gained to about 107 lbs. She told me that she is sorry that she will not be bringing some of her beautiful Chinese dresses because she is fatter now and they do not fit as well. This was and is a big issue for my wife. I Finally convinced her that for her size (5'4" tall) 107 lbs is still a beautiful weight for her. I also told her that I would gladly get her many new dresses to replace the ones she no longer can wear. On a more serious note -- I hope your friend finds a solution soon. My ex-wife was "Bulimic" to the point where she could no longer hold food down little more than an hour after eating. To top that off, she was an alcoholic and she blamed me for her eating disorder. Whether your friend wants to admit it or not, she has a very potentially dangerous illness just waiting to take hold of her. These are only my thoughts and experiences. I do hope the best for your room mate and you.
  23. My wife only paid 1800RMB for both her and her daughter from Chongqing to Guangzhou. (RT Fare)
  24. The Health Check is $100 each and the visa (all K series) 830RMB ( just a few cents over $100.) The larger amount of $350 is for Visa's such as CR1 etc.
  25. Hey Everyone, Jason found a really good service call BroadVoice that lets you call China along with 19 other countries plus all the US for as little as $19.99. If your Chinese family has this service too, then they can call you in the US for nothing also. The only thing is you must have DSL / Cable Modem or T1 or better to use it. I told my wife about it and how she will be able to call family and friends in China or anywhere in the US for no extra cost. I don't think she believes me yet......... Just thought I would drop that in everyones ear. Any one like to talk to me more about it, feel free to PM or Email me. Bryan
