  1. What??? When did they move Christmas??? Just wanted to see if anyone was paying attention ...... http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/10/10_5_135.gif Just kidding! Just a Typo!
  2. When my wife went for her interview Oct. 18th. She was able to get her physical on that Friday before. As it turned out, the bank gave her an outdated Visa application and the hospital caught it right away. She was then allowed to return the next day Saturday to complete the physical. I realize that Christmas is Dec. 26 this year, but the Chinese do not close up shops or hospitals because of it. Still it is and would be best to go early. You never know what could get in the way, no matter how simple or small of an ordeal it is. Bryan
  3. Hello Will, Welcome to our family! My wife also has a daughter whom is 13. All you need to do is add the daughter to the I-130 and all other documents requesting sibling info. Then have your wife look at her Divorce Decree to see if she has soul custody. She may still need to get written permission from the Biological Father. The good news is that you have plenty of time to get this. You will not need these Noterized documents untill you have P3. So go ahead and follow ALL the instructions to the letter and send it in. As time goes on, you will have many questions. You are in the right place! If you want to talk more about this in detail, PM oe E-Mail me and I would be happy to try to help you out! Good Luck! Bryan
  4. I'm not sure about the WAC, when you call USCIS they should be able to tell you. As for posting your time line and other fun things, look up in the top of this page and you will see next to your name, "Your Control Panel". Click on this. This will take you to where you can manage your account. Look for "Edit Signature". This is where you will add all your time line information or anything else you wish to show everyone. It's simple! Play around with it for a while until you get a feel for it. You can use the "Preview" button to see how it looks before you post it to the rest of the members to see. Have Fun! Bryan
  5. Hi AGM, Welcome to CFL! You have a common issue that has also happened to me. You have done everything right buy writting your Service Center about the changes. You did not mention if you sent a copy of the I-797 along with your letter. Normaly it will take around 30 to 90 days before you may see any changes. You should get something telling you the changes have been made. But remember that a follow up call to your Service Center is also a good idea. Call the number at the bottom of the I-797, and they should be able to tell you if they received the letter. If not, you can make the changes on the phone. Good Luck! Bryan
  6. When my wife went for her interview, I sent her a newer completed I-134. She used this one and everything was OK. Just a little FYI!
  7. Hello Everyone, Well the days are drawing closer until my wife and step daughter are here with me. Today I received NOA2 for the I-130. Looks like early 2005 we'll be doing AOS! Good luck to the rest of you! Bryan
  8. Hi Paula, I simpathise with you and your husband when it comes to the child support. In fact, that is the only reason I'm not living in China today! I have 5 kids but all but 1 is out of school and no longer part of what I must pay each month. I can only tell you to try to understand what he is going through on this. If he does not pay the Court Ordered Child Support, he could go to jail and this would not be very helpful to you or his kids. If you are concerned about life in America, then I can only suggest that you try to learn everything you can about the US. My wife felt the same way as you do, several months ago. So I made a deal with my wife! She comes and lives in America for 5 years or until I finish paying Child Support (only 3 1/2 years to go). If she decides that she is unhappy or just doesn't like the USA then I will retire from my job early and we will move to China. Just remember that he must do his best to keep you happy and also be there for his kids when they need him. I can tell by your postings that you really want everything to work. That is great! I can only tell you that "Patience" is your only enemy! Good Luck! Everything will turn out OK! Bryan
  9. Hi Paula and welcome to CFL! This is really a simple fix. The fee for the I-129F is only $165USD. Sense your husband sent to much money, TSC returned everything so you can resubmit with the correct amount. Follow what they have requested and you should be OK. Good Luck! Bryan
  10. Mark and Bea, That is great news! I will be calling my wife tonight and tell her about you new addition! Bryan
  11. Hello Everyone, Thank you for the warm thoughts. The timing was great last night to get the good news just before going to bed. I did sleep very well last night, but it will not be a complete and restful sleep until she is here with me. Now for all of you that want to know ....... What did the VO ask your wife? Well, I don't have to tell you that the biggest worry that many of our SO's have is the ability to speak English. I asked Qunying about this and she told me that the man (I don't know which window or what he looked like) did his best to help her to stay calm and to get through the interview. My wife was nervous enough that she was having trouble understanding the English he was using, so he continued the interview in Chinese. The funny thing is that my wife answered his questions in English...... The questions that he asked were: How many times has your husband come to China? Two times! What kind of work does your husband do? This time in English: He works on Cable TV, Telephone and Internet! That's it! Just Wham Bam, she got the Visa ... Man! I know that the past 4 days were the sleepless nights I have ever had! I'll keep you all up to date as time moves on. Until then, Good Luck to all you that have just gotten your P3 or now waiting in line at GZ. The rest of you, the ride is worth the wait!
  12. Actualy, I will be moving into a two BR place Oct. 30 & 31. Boy do I have alot of crap to through out!
  13. My wife has just called me about 10 minutes ago to tell me that she and her daughter had NO PROBLEMS with the interview and will pick up the Visa's tomorrow (Oct 19 China Time) around 4:00PM. Because of the time and that I had been trying to sleep ....... OK, so I wasn't having any luck with that! ..... Qunying is going to tell me the details tomorrow morning (China Time). I will let you know what and how everything went! She did tell me that the interview was very easy. I thought I had probelms sleeping before the call ..... Now I'm too excited to sleep!!!!!!! Good Luck to everyone else!
  14. Taz, That is great news! I hope you and he are able to make everything work out OK. My wife's interview is in 1 hour. I'm holding my breath!
  15. Without speending a bucket of money for a translator for your computer, just to find that it wasn't what you really needed, just use on of the "FREE" online translators. I use Babel Fish and it seems to work very well!
  16. I have found that if you Do Not use Other you will normaly get a response. I never did get a response when I used "Other". So I started to use the next reason closest to what I was asking. now for DOS! I have always gotten through in less than 5 minutes when I would call them right at 8:30AM EST. Never had to wait when I did that. Good Luck!
  17. Hi Russ, Glade to see that your wife will soon be with us. As for the daughter, you shouldn't have any problems with the police certificate being she is just turning 16, as far as the medical goes, she will still need to go through the physical (my 13 y.o. step daughter just had to with her mother today) but in addition, she will also need the X-Rays. (children under 16 do not need the X-Ray). From what I have read the cost will be minimal for the certs and the X-Ray. Good Luck!
  18. Just remember, any place like GZ, you stand to be taken by the Taxi drivers. Your best bet will always be the Bus. My wife just arrived in GZ yesterday and she took the bus. If you pay more than RMB40 or 50, you paid "WAY" to much. just my 2 Yuan worth.
  19. My Friends, As many of you know, my wife is now in GZ waiting for Monday to come when she will be interviewed. I don't have to tell you that she is very anxiouse and scared at the same time. At this point, I'm not sure which one of us are more excited. I haven't been able to sleep ever sense she got on that plan yesterday. I call her every morning and every evening to let her know I am with her even if I am not with her physicaly. Until this evening, I had been sweeting about where she was going to find a Hotel for less than RMB1000 per night. (Due to the Trade Fair in GZ this week) Wellll ..... She told me that she was able to find one for RMB180. The only inconveniance was that the WC is outside and shared by the other guests. I can tell she would love to be in a better place, but all she could say to me was, "I hope I get Visa easy" ..... My friends, all of this is well worth it! I look back now and I see when the date was that I first sent in the I-130. I remember thinking at that time that maybe everything will go smooth and Qunying will be here in less than a year! It has been 15 months now and the finish line is finaly in sight. The last obstical that my wife see's is her ability to speak English well enough to be understood. My thoughts are that she will do very well. I remember back to when we first started talking on the phone (prior to my 1st visit to China) where she could hardly speak or understand much English. Over the year + I have turned many of our phone conversations into English lessons and today, most English speaking people can understand her and have a good conversation with her. I know this is a little winded, but I wanted to point out that there are many things that can happen to make life easy for you and your SO. So "Hang in there" because your time is coming. Dedication, Loving heart, understanding and Devotion! What more can anyone say? ohhh .... and Frank? .... Would you pass the "Cheetos" please? .... Thanks! B)
  20. Hello Everyone, I want to thank all of you again for your suport and suggestions. This morning (US Time) mark's wife, Bea called my wife and it seems that everything will be OK. I did not get much detail from my wife because of her having a few things in the city to take care of, but I did ask her how the call went and she seems to be happier about the trip to GZ now. Mark and Bea, Thank you so very much for you efferts to help. Bryan
  21. Thanks Everyone for your suggestions. I have already gotten an email back from Mark and Bea, and Bea is going to call my wife in the morning (China time). As for the other hotels, my wife has already looked into these everyone has mentioned. The problem is that "ALL" the hotels have inflatted their prices for the Trade Show that is going on! I think you would be very lucky to find anything under RMB1000 starting Oct. 14. that was close.
  22. Her passport will already be in both Chinese and English. No need for translation. As for the I-130 & I-129F, Follow the instructions very closely! Do your best to not read into what they are asking you to do. If you do all this, then you will be OK. Side note, make sure you have a copy of everything you send USCIS. After more than 400 days on my I-130, I get an RFE to submit documents I had sent them before ......... The most important thing is the I-129F. This is your wife's ticket to not having to wait 2 or 3 years for the I-130 to complete processing. I know some have had better luck getting the I-130 in less time, but why gamble! Good Luck!
  23. Hello Everyone, I know that starting Oct. 14 all the hotel rooms in GZ will skyrocket to around 1000RMB + because of the Trade Show that is going on! I know this has been covered a couple months back so I though I might try to get some fresh information from anyone. My best understanding is to go to the next city over "Shenzhen" but I don't have any new information about the travel from there to GZ, etc. So if anyone has any good leads, let me know. My wife leaves for GZ Oct. 13. Qunying and I will really appreciate any help with this search.
  24. You don't really need the Birth Certificate, but it's not a bad idea to keep in your records at home. I have B/Certs. for both my wife and Step daughter. As far as translations go, you will need all documents that are "Not In English" translated and certified. Do it in China because the rate in the US is a little higher. Good Luck!
  25. Thanks everyone for the well wishes! Marty, I'm sure Weiping will know before you or I. I just have that feeling! B)
