  1. I went to there website and couldn't find a option to call the US from China only vise versa. Please send me or write down the link.. I have been trying and looking for a more cost effective way to call home when in china. Thank you
  2. Do you think getting the police records before the K3 packet arrives is ok. How much time before the interview you think is best to obtain the police records. This of course will be for my wife.
  3. I know there is countless of calling cards and many different ways to save and call china, but is there a way to save money to call the US from China? I know you can always use Skype, MSN, yahoo ect... but there are times when i need to call using my phone and it would be nice to pay only 2 cents a minute. Any suggestions..
  4. If not staying at a Hotel, then yes you should register with the local police. True, many do not and it is never brought up. Everywhere I have stayed, not once as anyone asked to see my residence permit or passport.
  5. My problem is that I won't be getting the F visa until after I arrive. I do feel a lot better knowing that I will be able to keep living at my rented home in Beijing after the F visa is issued. I'm not sure what to do when I arrive on my L visa about registering at the police station. I can take the prior slip and the paper from the House complex showing that I am staying where. Not sure if this will work.
  6. thanks for the information and link I'll be returning on my L Multi 90 visa and then signing up for school there after. The courses I will be taking are only for 2 months, so the school will only assist me in getting a F visa. I figure even if the F visa is only for 6 months, I can always get the extension for being married. I just wish I didn't have to keep changing my visa. Do you know if a sponsor is needed when registering with the local police. I believe this person has to be registered from the same city or what my wife likes to say, a Beijing person. The wife will be out of town when I return, so I'll attempt to pull this off myself. My pervious times in china I did receive small temp residence permit paper from the police station.
  7. hello, i was told to list 90 days for the longest intended stay in china. If your traveling with your wife from the states, then yes you should put down your wifes Mother's Information as the inviter. I don't know how to indicate on the visa form for two years, this maybe where your accompanying letter will explain why. I left other Declaration section blank. Just a FYI, don't know if it holds true today, but it also depends which consluate you go through on getting your visa. Some are more stricter than others on what visa they issue.
  8. Does anyone now or have had any experiences with the F visa for students or business purposes? Next time I go to China to see my wife I am thinking about taking some classes. I want to make sure before I sign up that I can do everything that I could with the L visa. My major concern is not being able to obtain a temporary residents permit when i register with the police.
  9. I had to click on the option for MSN to save the messages. I believe it is set not to save by default. I think yahoo or QQ is better for this. I think MSN saves it to a folder, can't seem to find mine at the moment. Yahoo you can copy paste and print the messages. QQ, well it helps if you know chinese. Ask wife about QQ, it is used a lot in china and has some great features.
  10. Still not sure where to send the I-129f form after receiving the I-797C for I-130. On the insturctions for the I-129f it inticates to send the form and related documents to where your underlying I-130 is. Does this mean the Chicago Lockbox or the address where the I-797C form came from? No where in the information on the I-797C does it say to send to which address. Just a little confused, I may call them in the morning. USCIS.
  11. Thanks for the info, i understand the CR1 process, how it is much more cost effective and in most cases it just makes more sense. But the K3 right now is the right way to go for me and the wife, without going into much detail. I just want to make sure I understand everything that I have asked or something I may have missed. Don't want to leave anything out that may cause any delays.
  12. Save anything you might think is important for the interview. If she has a printer at home then it might be a good idea to print everything there. I like to print everything here in the states. I have no printer in china and paying 5 jiao per copy can add up. Chat logs, emails, birth certs, divorce certs, financial info, taxes, bank info, etc.. anything that may help. It's starting to get cold in some parts, so bring warm clothing and yes gifts, something small and from where you live. Many of my wifes family, friends and people I meet always like to see pictures of where I am from.
  13. Just received I-797C, Notice of Action. I am now preparing to send the I-129f packet, but not sure if I understand the K3 visajourney outline and some of the instructions clearly. I think there is alot of information that doesn't apply when processing the form for the K3. Do I have to wait for a I-130 Transfer notice as noted in number 3 in the checklist where my petition was routed to? If no, do I send the I-129f to Chicago Lockbox where I sent the I-130 or to the Address listed on the bottom of the page of the NOA I-797C in California? Should I include a copy of the check for $355? I have the following to send with the I-129f, please let me know if I left anything out or if something is a overkill. I have all chinese docs translated in english, certified and notarized. I-129F Form G-325a for wife and myself passport photo for the both of us birth certs for the both of us divorce cert for my wife marriage cert coverletter Thank you
  14. I wonder how many western men fall for the scam at Tiananmen Square. Chinese woman says "hi" and if you responed, she engages into a conversation about where you are from and if your in china for business or just traveling. Of course she would like to walk with you and talk about her and your culture, learning more english along the way. Then she suggests that the two or sometimes three of you sitdown at a restaurant for a drink. If you comply, she takes you to a tea house (forget the name of the street, along side Tiananmen) and orders from a very expensive menu. 40rmb coke and 1200rmb wine, etc.. I can buy the same coke at Tesco for 2yuan and 4 jiao. When me and the wife visit Tiananmen with friends, we always see this sort of thing going on, woman staking out the place for western men.
  15. How long can the wife stay in China after the K3 visa is issued in Guangzhou, assuming everything goes ok. We would like to stay in china until the lease is up on the house before coming to the states.
  16. This is just a question but why would you ship vitamins to China - they can buy them everywhere....I did when I lived there. I even bought my Silver Centrum's at Wal Mart in China. I did notice that Omega3's were hard to come by, as well as Flaxseed Oil. But mostly, I could buy everything else in China. Maybe I haven't looked hard enough. I can ony find vitamins that are way over priced, i'm not talking about Centrum, but more of the specialized vitamins that you would find at Whole Foods or Sunflower Market. I've looked at places like Walmart and the stores near Dawanglu.
  17. I have a package all ready for my wife to ship from the States to Beijing and was wondering if I should use chinese characters, pinyin or english when filling out the address in Beijing. Should I include both chinese and english? Another related question. Has anyone had any problems shipping out vitamins to China? If I write done gift, is it ok that there is more than one item in the package. Will the description of item(s), gift, be sufficient enough to cover everything in the box without giving a detailed list of the items. And the value? Should I keep it under a certain amount like 100RMB? Does the value need to be listed in RMB or USD and the description? I will being using United States Postal Service for shipping. I think this is the cheapest way. Maybe around 5-6 days.
  18. Only clothes made out of gold. The wife likes american clothes, very easy to buy for her, everything in xsmall. I was thinking about taking my collapsible bike back to the states. One of my favorite things to do is ride my bike in the streets of beijing and tianjin. I even rode my bike to beijing from tianjin with the wife on the back. I'm not all that in shape, it took all night. Great website, I definitely will be using it. thanks
  19. I'm sure most airlines, especially international flights to and from china have similar rules. I have only ever used United (for my first leg) and Air China going to and they are pretty strict on the weight and how many bags you can take. United rules for Economy class are two checked bags 50 lbs each, one carry on and one personal item. Coming back from China, Air China counter representatives don't care so much about the weight, at least that has been my experience. Does anyone know of any other airlines going to China that have a little more of a relaxed rule on baggage weight from the US?
  20. When I left Beijing about 3 weeks ago it was the same when I arrived back in May. They just have the Termal imaging cameras taking your temperature. They take everyone's temperature before exiting the plane and then again 2 or 3 times more walking through the airport with cameras. When I return shortly, I'm sure that things may have changed and they will start giving everyone the one dose H1N1 vaccine.
  21. RTRL is truly a wonderful movie. Another wonderful movie that Zhang Yimou was apart of is "Yellow Earth". A little known film that is a must for any fans of Zhang Yimou and Chinese Cinema. This movie dates back to 1984 and is about a young girl who is forced into a marriage, her family's hardships and a soldier looking for old traditional songs for the Revolution. I am a big fan of old chinese cinema. Great movies, storylines and acting.
  22. I have heard many different stories about this and not sure what to believe. Next time I go to China, we will go back to Tianjin and inquire about the marriage visa to allow me to stay longer. Right now I have the L 90 days multi visa until the end of the year. Anybody know or have had experience with this. I think it costs about 900RMB for a American person for this special visa and the wait is about 7 days, oh and you need to bring your housing temp permit, I think.
  23. I used this site and entered your code number. Not sure if it worked are not. I also am trying another site many people have listed here. As anyone found a cheap way to call the other way around... China to the US... I find this very expensive and try to avoid as much as possible, but sometimes I need to call.
  24. It's very hard being away from my dear Nian and was wondering how hard it is to get a K3 if I have a financial sponsor when the final interview comes up in Guangzhou. I have enough liquid assets to cover the proverty level and can get my father as a sponsor, but am worried guangzhou will see this as reason for denial. It's still early in the stage of our K3, but would love to go back to Beijing after the I-129f is accepted and live with my wife.
