  1. Interview is set for early morning on April 28th.
  2. hello, can you please let me know more details about your room for rent. Mr yang.. we will come to guangzhou for my wife's interview very soon and don't wish to stay at a hotel. Your email address did not work. Thank you
  3. Yes - debit cards are becoming common. You can drop buy the China Postal Savings (yes, apparently another function of China Post) and buy one. Whatever amount you purchase it for is the amount you have available Is the debit card from China Post something I could purchase? I wouldn't mind trying and i'm sure it's good just about everwhere (Major Chain stores)..
  4. Thanks for the info.. I'll check my capital one card online to see how much I actually got charged and match it up against the current exchange rate for that day. Capital One states that they don't charge you any fees for using the card internationally. I'll make sure I look for the private money changer outside some of the banks next time. In the meantime I will continue to use my BOA card at CCB.
  5. Thanks.. I've also been using my BOA card at CCB to withdraw RMB. I didn't realize that was no exchange fee. As far as I know there is no fee using the Capital One Card international. {edit} Repaired broken quote tags
  6. Has anyone used their US credit card in china at supermarkets? I find it much eaiser to swipe the plastic then using RMB.. Maybe it's just a habit I have back home.. So far I've only been able to use my Capital One card at Tesco and some of the more expensive foreign grocery stores.. That reminds me, is ever bank in china the same when it comes to the exchange rate.. so far three banks are giving me 6.75 on the dollar.. The current 1 for 1 rate is 6.82.. When i'm out and about tomorrow i'll ask a few more banks.. Just wondering if it differs from where you are in china or what bank your using.
  7. Sounds good.. thanks. I like to do some planning ahead of time.. I hope we see the interview letter soon.. Do you know how much the city bus and subway is in GUZ? I forgot how much when I was there last time. Have you seen any pinyin maps around of GUZ? Besides my SO, a pinyin map is my best friend..
  8. Thank you... Aren't we on the same time zone now I'm hoping it starts to warmup a bit here in the north... nice to see the snow finally melted.
  9. Thank you for the info..i'll try them tomorrow during business hours..oh, i just tried EMS website and it seems to be working again.. thanks again
  10. What are some good cheap hotels to stay at in GUZ while the wife goes for the interview.. I hope it doesn't take long and we may also go to Shenzhen.. Any other suggestions on what can help the stay in GUZ go a little smoothly. Is it best to get the medical stuff out of the way while in Beijing or is that something that can be done in a day in GUZ.
  11. What's the link to the EMS website for tracking? I've been having a hell of a time trying to pull it up here in china. The link from google and typing in the website doesn't work.. www.ems.com.cn
  12. Hello from Beijing/Tianjin, Does anyone know the current time frame for receiving Packet 4 after Packet 3 has been mailed by the SO in china? It's been about a week now since my SO mailed out P3 and forgot to right down the return label EMS tracking number .... The only way I know how to contact GUZ from China is by email from the FAQ page and calling DOS which is a little expensive.. Does anyone have a phone number I could call from China?
  13. Should I or the Co-Sponsor type up a letter of support or is the I-134 with supporting docs enough? Should I type up a letter explaining everything when my SO hands everything in, just in case they overlook something or don't understand. I'm just a little worried based on some of ACFL members recent experiences. Should I bring W2s? Is there anything else (financial docs) I should bring that's not listed on the instructions. I'm hoping to get Pink the first time around. Sorry for so many topics in a row, i'm getting a little nervous and don't want to forget anything.
  14. When the interview takes place does GUZ keep any of the documents (copies) SO provides? I have copies of everything except pictures.. Should my SO bring a second set of pictures or will GUZ just look at them to confirm a bona fide.
  15. Do you think it's a good idea to get vaccinated against H1N1 before I leave? I've had all my other shots that is recommended, but not sure getting the H1N1 vaccine is really necessary. I haven't been following the news lately in China on how serious it is or was..
  16. I'm going over all my paperwork before I leave on Sunday.. Just one i'm not sure of. Question 3 on the I-134 (Second Part) Does my name need to be listed as the Spouse who will accompanying or following to join the person (My Wife) on the I-134 or do I put None? Same Question for My Affidavit of Support and my Fathers (Co-Sponsor). Thank you
  17. Does anyone know how long China Post or even the China Banks take off for the New Year? Does this affect EMS?
  18. How long does it usually take to receive the P3 in the mail? The packet was mailed out on Feb 8th? Do they use EMS or China post? Is there any way to obtain a tracking number? How easy is it to get a replacement sent out if lost.
  19. How long usually does it take to receive the P3 after it's been mailed from GUZ. It would be going to Beijing.. Should I be worried if GUZ mailed it out on Feb 8th and it still has not been received? If lost how do we go about getting it remailed?
  20. thanks Do you have the GUZ email address to check to see if they've received the case?
  21. Last time I went to Ho Chi Minh I took Korean air. They have better food than united but I don't like airline food but I heard they offer 2 choices an American and a Korean dish. Take the Korean dish. Your allowed 2 check in bags each can be 20 kilo's I don't remember the length. Each seat has its own screen where you can watch whatever movie or tv show you want or play games or listen to music. There is even an option where you can look outside from the flight camera's. Not bad considering I hate flying. I always like to try something new and flying with a different airline is a whole new experience in itself. I usually end up on China air or United everytime I go to China. I'm hoping for a layover so I can take in the sights and sounds at the Seoul airport. The flight camera is a pretty cool feature.
  22. Received a letter from the State Department's National Visa Center today. Letter states the status of the I-129f, case number and where it's being processed at. Is this standard operating procedure or something new? This letter is in addition to the NOA2 I received for I-129f and I-130.
  23. Try TNT shipping... they are usually cheaper than the other major shipping companies.. it really depends on the amount and weight your shipping.. Chinapost/EMS is also a good way to go.
  24. Got it.. Sorry, I'm a slow learner.. Should I call the consulate in GUZ to see if they received the case for K3 in about 2 weeks or so? No, call DOS Visa Services in the USA @ 202-663-1225 They will tell you if and when the consulate receives package and when they send out P3. More than likely the package will get caught up in the usual 3 month customs delay and the consulate will indicate not received until the package clears the delay. Thank you.. I'll be on the horn very soon. Is part of the "customs delay" is the consulate entering the info in their computers? Yes in part, K-Visas have their case files shipped to the consulate as opposed to being sent electronically as in the case of CR-1 visas that opted for electronic processing. So in the case of K-Visas the physical file gets shipped via DHL and and arrives in China where it will sit in a warehouse until the Chinese customs can clear the physical case through customs, after that and the consulate can then "Receive" the case file and then proceed with sending out P3, this usually takes up to 3 months. In my case I did not bother contacting Visa services for about 2.5 months. IS there anyway to track the status online with the GUZ case number?
