  1. Yes the rent is not very much. My Fiancee has always paid by 6 month terms, I believe. My principle point is ,that she did not "prepare" for the rent coming due very soon, thinking that this wealthy American will pay for the rent, which I will. Now you see, she's already acting as if y'all are married. Yes, now she is behaving like we are married. Sometimes she acts as if she was a " Blond in her past Life", but I think this is an ACT. She has had a difficult life, and I know I have to earn her trust, as she is earning mine. I know her coming to a strange land, and leaving all she has went through all of her life, is not easy. That takes a strong will. along with much faith, and trust. One other thing I have learned, my wife thought/thinks that all USA men are loose with their money. She used to tell me she needed money for rent then I sent it to her. To my surprise, she had saved most all of it. When I asked her why she did this she replied "USA man no understand how keep money." Yes I was tricked but in a pleasant way. That behavior would be a big no no for me. I am retired, and manage very well. I make my extra pocket money with buy-sell or repairing autos part time, and have a rental unit for income. I invested my money in CDs, long term that are doing very good. Would hate to think I cashed in a CD or one of my buy-sell items, to send money to someone that ask for it under false pretense. Glad your worked out well though. B)
  2. Hi Dan, would your wife consider a job at any of the hotel-motels? Pays only minimum, but would be a start. The hotel-motels here have a difficult time keeping workers on the cleaning staff very long with the minimuw wage. Good luck.

  5. Se_lang,,,,,My Fiancee seemed to manage ok before I started sending money, and her friends now have boyfriends sending more money than I. I believe she has a bit of "peer pressure", going on. I often tell her that I always think "Visa first", and try to get her to think Visa first. I ask her why she would want to buy so much stuff, that she can not bring here. Her answer was, she did not think of that. Even though my income is low, everything I own is paid for. I worked 30 years at the same job, and prepared for retirement. I believe things will get better, once she is here away from the peer pressure, but then again I have 2 shoppa=holic Sister.
  6. Congratulations. Your fiancee did a great job on what sounds like a difficult interview.
  7. I guess I am being paranoid. Trust has to be earned, and that is a slow process with me. What bothers me is, she works, same job 10 years, and I send her money, but she has not prepared to pay the rent in a place she has lived 10 years. I still have 1 rental unit here, and had a few more in Ohio, until recently, so I have heard very many excuses about late rent. This, not prepared to pay, shows me a non responsible person. I have money set aside for 1 more trip to Chongqing, at or before interview time, so $ not the problem, just the irresponsible attitude. I hope that my sending money has not triggered a buy,,buy,,buy attitude, much like giving beer to an acoholic, or giving a deck of cards to a gambler. Thanks everyong for the good information. Bob
  8. My Fiancee lives in Chongqing. She ask for $ for 6 month rent of her apartment due soon . She has worked 10 years at same job, low pay. I send her $200 or so each month, that last a couple of days.. What bothers me is , before she said she paid rent by the month. I have told her, and showed documents to back it up, that my income is low, I am retired, age 61. My house and everything else I have is total paid for, so no big income has been necessary . A couple of her friends have well off boyfriends that send $500 each month. She seems to have that, "money will burn a hole in your pocket outlook". ..Anyway, anyone know that if it is necessary to pay rent by a 6 month lump in Chongqing? Thanks, Bob,
  9. There are pills for that you know. When I returned from Chongqing in April, I did not sleep for 3 days. Still sleep very little. Good Luck , Robert................

  11. Thanks dcwfn for the post. That is the way it is here in the South West Virginia.
  12. My SO is always thanking me for every photo, email, and call, so I do the same with her. I have not found many Chinese vegetables here, so I bought seeds to grow Chinese vegetables in my garden. My SO also sent seeds to me to try. Most of the seeds did very well. Met a very nice Chinese lady here that works at the nearby college. She has a support group meeting once a month for the few Chinese people here, and invited my SO and myself to join any time. She had alot of information of where my SO can shop and find places and things my SO may be interested in. I hope to find other CFL members near enough to meet for a lunch or dinner. A week-end get away would be nice for her, and to meet other Chinese women that are going though a similar situation.
  13. Hi Scott, I was in Chongqing in April for 3 weeks, so I got to know more about my SO, after almost a year on talking. We too have a great relationship. The little things she did for me like make breakfast, and always thinking of what I may want to eat or drink while I was there. We were on the go everyday, to see as much as possible, and to meet family, and friends. A good relationship is all about compromise and adapt. I am trying to find as much information for ease of transition, like where to buy Chinese vegetables, have her hair done, what type of cloths she likes. So best of luck, Scott & Hong
  14. Thanks everyone. 200rmb would be very good. Any idea costs of translation and notary??
  15. Have not seen any recent post for costs of getting a Police Certificate, have it translated, and have it notarized. My Fiancee has lived in Chongqing all her life. I read that it is good for 12 months. Our case is in NVC at present time, so now is good time to get this document. My Fiancee got her birth record, divorce records, and single documents, prepared months ago, but not the Police document. thanks,
  16. October should be a good time to go. Weather should be good, and the air ticket lower then also. I went in April. The weather was perfect, and the air ticket was much lower than if I had waited a couple of weeks. Good Luck.
  17. Hi "Mood" ... My Fiancee and I talked for 11 months before I went to visit her. My job moved out of country, but no problem, I sold my little farm tractor so I could visit my Fiancee, in April 2009 for 3 weeks. I applied for K1 Fiancee Visa in May 2009. If your boyfriend believes you are meant to be together, he will find a way to come visit you. Good Luck....
  18. My Fiance is an Office Manage 10 years at present company, and an Office Manage 10 years at her prior job. Low on the pay scale I believe. She does like her job. While I was there, I traveled with her to a few banks, and government offices while she was taking care of business.
  19. Hello Robert. Now that you have filed, you can relax for a few months. Seems to take about 4 or 5 months for the NOA 2. Notice of Action. After that maybe a couple of months until you get an interview. No can predict the Visa process, just take an education guess, like the weather. Good luck to you and your SO.
  20. The 10 photos sounds good. You may want to write the date, location, and names on the back of the photos, and if family and friends in photos, their relation to either of you. I put 7 photos on a 8 by 11 sheet so it would be easy to view. Good Luck.....
  21. So it seems all the tourist visa information on the Dept of State website, with fill out forms, and etc., it just a bunch of phony balogna. Seems awful one sided that it is easy to leave the USA, but very difficult to get into the USA. With the government making it so difficult, and often impossible to come here legal, people will find a way to get here illegal, like the millions of people here from Mexico. Our govenment does little to slow or stop the Mexicans coming here illigal, but sure makes it difficult for us to bring our Chinese loved ones here legal. Does the Chinese Government say anything about the one sided policies of tourists with our government??.. With all the mounting US dept to China, China will end up owning the US anyway.
  22. The link worked for me. Is this the Embassy?....thanks.
  23. Thanks everyone for the replies. I know it is not possible for a tourist Visa to the USA once a K1 has been filed. It is very easy to get a tourist Visa to China, a couple of documents in the mail, and get a China Visa in a few day. Our government sure makes it difficult for most people to come here.
  24. It seems the trend, when a USA person meets a Chinese person, that the USA person travels first to China to meet. The Fiance(e) Visa process states, "that the Fiance and Fiancee must have met in person" . I wish my Fiancee had traveled first to the USA, to have a better understanding of what it is really like here . She said that a Tourist Visa was impossible for her or any of her friends to get. She said a travel agent said she would need $30,000 deposit , sounds like a scam . I have not found much information on requirements for a Chinese person to get a tourist visa. I have appied for a Fiancee Visa in May, but was curious of the true requirements would have been for a tourist visa for her. Any help appreciated.
  25. Maybe the VO does want to see a love story, "Bonafide Relationship"
