  1. If they know you're in China so what? As long as they don't follow me around 24/7 and tape bedroom stuff for the internet. I still like the personal touch and looking someone in the eye.
  2. We've got two sets that were never opened. The set from the GUZ medical and the set from here after she got the false positive for TB.
  3. Dylan W, Sarcastic and a jack_ss? I just thought you had read the latest times and were stating fact. Don't you go soon? Dust off the Circling thread.
  4. I'm sure you could use the consulate to get something noterized or check to see if any forms need to be updated. In case it comes up remember you won't be able to stay with her in the line outside the whole time. Make sure she has all the paperwork that morning including your passport. It gets kind of hard the same day as citizens aren't allowed on the fifth floor until 9:00[?] and it's hard to get the stuff to her once she's inside.
  5. jsa23, Welcome to Candle. Could you have picked a harder question? Sorry, that was a joke. That is an impossible question to answer. Each class has its own plus and minus side. Add in the fact that your own circumstance is unique and what works for one doesn't apply to another.... You will need to do research and decide with your SO what path to follow. You might want to start in the FAQ section. Dave Z has got it set up pretty good. Check out the different petition types then you'll have to match up the all important timelines to see how long it's taking for each type. If you haven't yet, start documenting EVERYTHING. I mean phone logs, letters, photos...this will be the kitchen sink. The time and effort you put in now will save time and trouble down the road.
  6. Ya got me again, dnoblett. I did notice that you forgot to mention how it's not clear when GUZ and USCIS decide that will be what happens and whether they notify anybody. If the general population had any idea of the [legal]process required I don't think the anti-immigrate sentiment would be as radical as it is. The "trick" is knowing the case is closed and won't come back to bite you in the you know where. I don't think just not hearing from them would make me feel safe.
  7. dnoblett is right[again]. If it's to the governments advantage, say for instance if they don't move fast enough that a petition would automatically be approved for something like negligence, then they don't worry to much about little things like that. Just make sure you don't have the same attitude.
  8. If nothing else Dennis gets to have an other confused American man to be confused with connected with the Chinese side of the family. The two should cancel each other out, right?
  9. Ask your fiancee what day SHE accepted. She will say May. Once you commit she does also.
  10. As a blue[plural] and white myself, I am always trying to stay current. I have no magic wand to make it happen. If at all possible when the blue comes up, go back and try to deal with it in GUZ. The more trips in GUZs book, the more it shows you are in it for the long haul.
  11. ShaQuaNew, Along those lines, do you notice a "difference" between oral Mandarin and Cantonese? Specifically Cantonese is more "direct" verus Mandarin being more "diplomatic"?
  12. Aren't the bios done by subcontractors?
  13. Maybe try at your local college if you don't like the internet thing[i don't either].
  14. IMHO try to find out why the K-1 denial. If that isn't resolved, it could come back to haunt you later. Someone with more knowledge will reply soon, but I think getting that info and dealing with it then notifying the proper [uSCIS and GUZ] folks is in order.
  15. In olden times[last year] when you filed EAD concurrent with AOS the filing fee for EAD was waived. That's why most folks go that route. If you want the SSN only for tax purposes, look into getting an individual tax number for the lad.
  16. Rocco 09, I haven't piped in yet. You seem like you've got the deal scoped out. The main issue is finding out the exact reason of the denial. IMHO start with the K-1 and upgrade as needed. That gives you a fall back position. Refiling for the same visa without dealing with the underlaying issue of denial is seems to be a losing battle.
  17. Jesse, Make sure you go far enough away the wife doesn't get bad reports when she gets home. Daily updates for those of us who live vicariously through you are appreciated!
  18. Reddragon75, For some reason when I was talking to my mom today I thought of you. She said something about the "poor" congressman who lost his reelection because of the Shandra Levy death. How long does one have to pay penance? You might have to go there and do the tsap deal for a while. Assuming of course you're up to it. By the way, I'm more in your corner than the other guy.
  19. I don't know, ShaQuaNew, looks like short rations for a whole month. Unless you're planning on going out to pratice ordering
  20. All I know is what I did for the K-1. I sent two money orders. One for the I-485[along with the EAD, AP all the freebies concurrent ] and the balance for the bios. I think that one was $90. The logic was if there was a problem neither would delay the other, if you see what I mean.
  21. Just a suggestion. If possible go over for two weeks. Plan so that you can attend ACH at the consulate right before the interview. If all goes well there should be enough time left to get everything set up to get her a ticket and come back with her.
  22. JMHO and I'm not suggesting lying on documents but I believe on using common sense on this one. My fiancee[now wife] at the time of interview was working at a, no kidding, chop stick factory. This was not recorded on any document. It's the Government. They're looking for party membership, criminal activities and work in sensitive areas. Threats to national security and criminal activities are grounds for refusal, not waitressing for cash five years ago at a small joint that's closed up.
  23. I hear ya, jimi. I knew somebody would get my point. If you try you can find scammers everywhere. Okay, I'll admit I'm biased because of the time wasted for the wife and I but show me the numbers of success in the way the system is now. Is the divorce rate higher then the general population? I would guess lower.
  24. Has anyone gone and tried the hardship line of " It's half the distance" and been denied? I know it's a leap of faith, but maybe you might get a real live human instead of a cog.
