  1. My dad was wondering what the wait time was. They filed their I-751 in July and did the biometrics in early August and still haven't heard anything back or recieved the 10year green card for his wife and her son.
  2. After recieving the green card, is there anything to do after that? Father and his wife married in May of 2009, recieved green card in October I believe. Is there anything that they need to do now?
  3. Thanks so much for the quick reply! I appreciate the help.
  4. Hi, My father and his wife (from china) are planning a trip back to china to visit her family. She has recieved her green card, has her social security card (though it is still in her maiden name), marriage certificate, and chinese passport. Question is: What all does she need to have with her when she travels? And is it important that she change the name on her social security card to her married name before traveling?
  5. Hi, my dad's wife and son just got their green cards today (it was actually pretty quick) and their EAD as well. Are they now good to travel back to China to see their family there? They had applied for the travel document as well while waiting for the green card.
  6. We filed the AOS paperwork for my father's wife and her son. The DC number says that the paperwork was delivered today. I was just wondering, what does the process look like from here on out? How long is typical before the AOS approval. And also, about how long does the work permit take to be approved? I'm just looking for a general idea of what to expect from here on out. thanks.
  7. okay, then about part 7, what are they supposed to write for why they qualify? Just that she is a K-1 awaiting greencard? What about evidence, what do they need to provide?
  8. Hi, my dad's wife is here on a k-1, they have married here and now we are getting all of the AOS forms together. My question is on the form I-131 ... she is a conditional resident? or does she need to check the advance parole box?
  9. My father's wife's son is 19. Do we file his AOS with his mother's? And is the filing fee the same for him (separate fees) or does the filing fee for his mother's packet include him as well?
  10. Hi, my father's fiance came here toward the end of Feb. and they waited the 2 weeks before getting her SS card. This was needed to get the marriage license. The SS card is in her maiden name, but she decided to change her name after they married. My question is, is it going to be a pain in the butt trying to get her SS card changed to reflect the new name? They are also getting ready to fill out the AOS forms, but I've read the other posts regarding the name change and how to fill those out. But do they have to file the forms for her son separately, together? what about the fee? Is it for them together, or a separate fee each?
  11. so.... if she does not have this yellow book, the civil surgeon will have to do another medical exam?
  12. It is in chinese and english, and lists the results to various tests done. It also has a passport sized photo of each of them. When I asked about a yellow book, they did not know what I was talking about. Would it have been placed in the sealed envelope that they gave to customs?
  13. Hi, what is this yellow book that everyone is talking about? Ping and her son have this passport sized orangey brown color book with their medical results in it from their exam in china. Is this what is needed for the civil surgeon to transfer to the I-693?
  14. Hi. Do we need to file the EAD first, separate from the AOS package? It is my understanding that her son will need this first, before being allowed to recieve a SSN.
