Remember the Buddas getting blasted in the cliffs? Logically that should have been answered by a force sent in to protect them from further destruction.

Yes it works and they really do reply. You will not however be satisfied with the outcome most likely. You will not get any info out of them that isn't in any letter they send later. If it all goes smooth at the interveiw 2-3 days before you can pick it up at the post office is normal. There was one case I read of here where the guy made arrangements to pick it up at the consulate himself.
