  1. Moderate income? Wow, you seem rich in the eyes of an average Chinese woman! One trip or two trips to China is ok for visa application provided you got pictures taken. Too many remittance slips will cause suspection for your source of finance. Cases vary, but most of the ways lead to Rome.
  2. Viewing in Guangzhou, women from Guangxi province are the first Chinese women who found American guys - that's the second greatest discovery after Chritopher Clumbus!
  3. History is interesting, but living through the history of Cultural Revolution is a nightmare. I spent the first 15 years of my life in hell. I spent the second 15 years running out of the hell. Then I tried the next 10 years to forget the nightmare otherwise it will ruin my life. My mother is very fond of bringing up the history then cries! Mao's favorite son got killed in north Korean by Americans - that's the curse of Mao's victims or God's will?
  4. I heard people ate a dead body during the Cultural Revolution but never heard they killed people for food. I read on a Chinese magazine, many years ago, that some minority, they cut a dead body and devided among the folks: head for senior people, breast for moms who were breast feeding babies, arms for hunters, dick for the newly-married guys.... If you read this, you'll vomit when seeing meat on your dinner table.

  6. You mean you completed the forms of P3 and sent them back to the consulate's mail address 1 Shamian South Street Guangzhou, right? Usually applicants receive P4 for visa interview 2 or 3 months after they send back completed forms of P3. You can buy a prepay card (rmb36 for 8 minutes or rmb54 for 12 minutes) at zhong xin yin hang to call their call center, to check when you'll have your visa interview. When you call, provide your case number which begins with GUZ200......and the data on the first page of your passport.
  7. Just curious to know which Chinese website your SO goes? I've been filling up forms for people since 1996, for visa applications of different countries. Chinese never have a middle name and I never have any problem or get any complaint.
  8. Larry, Now you have more information than you need. Did I tell you China Southern Airlines have direct flight from LA to our good old Guangzhou? www.cs-air.com
  9. Congrats! My father raises honey bees so our honey is always at home
  10. You ask your SO to buy a prepay card from local Citic Bank (zhong xin yin hang). There are directions on the card how to make an appointment with their call center. When you make a call for an appointment you need the following information: 1. data on her passport: passport number, name, date of birth, ID number 2. Case number, visa category (CR1 or K3?), date of interview If you call to make an appointment now, I think the date to submit video would be next week. She will get the notice of approval two days after she submits the video and she can pick up her visa after another 2 days. Since you are here in good old China, I suggest the two of you speaking English for video taking. 2 to 5 minutes is ok. Relax, dude, SO's broken English or Chinglish is acceptable per my experience. Write her name and case number on the label of the video.
  11. I call this Worm Viruses of Chinese culture. When some poeple have complaints, they don't complain in your face, but badmouth you to someone else, which makes people over nervous, over defensive or tit for tat, this kills the productivity of a nation. Worm Viruses consume too much memory of the computer that you cannot run your Windows. Now you understand why western countries are more developed than China? Part of the reason is Worm Viruses of the culture!
  12. Still don't understand why there are so many bad people. I used to be a high school teacher for 8 years and I cannot recall any bad people. In a big city like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou or Shenzhen, it's easy to stay grounded and avoid the attention of any enemy if there is any enemy at all.

  14. It's good she lives in a safe and guarded area. As a single woman, some shameless guys(single or married) may try to take advantage of her - we call it "eat beancurd" (take advantage of women). She has to be firm and tough. I usually try to remeber the phone number of a guy whom I want to stay away, just in case he gets my number and calls. If he calls my home number, put him to the fax machine . If he calls my mobile "Sorry, I'm not in Guangzhou. I'm on a biz trip in east China Fujian."
  15. Which part of China is your SO in? P4 is sent from south China Guangzhou. EMS (Express mail services) usually takes 2 to 4 days to arrive. If you haven't received P4 yet, ask your SO to buy a RMB54 prepay card at Citic Bank (zhong xin yin Hang). Contact the call center of the Consulate (provide case no, name and birthdate of the applicant), check if they have the tracking code of EMS. With the EMS tracking code, call 11185, you can track the package.
  16. When the figures on the Income Tax Return are not so good and the petitoner has visited China more than two times, VO tends to ask "Who paid his flight tickets?" or "How come he had the money to visit you so many times?" (ta na you qian hui lai? ) In this circumstances, I suggest you present the transaction sheet for purchasing the tickets, showing who paid the tickets.
  17. In Guangzhou, my friends and I have used the following photographer for many years. Chen Rui Ping, Cell Phone: 131 1955 7057 He charges RMB280 for taking a video. If you have taken the video already and need him to change it to the right format, he charges RMB120. This guy is very good, but he speaks Cantonese and poor Mandarin.
  18. Rick, Your SO gets stressed by her work. It's time to change her job or relocate.
  19. I've seen two B1 visa applicants whose cases got killed by two crazy secretaries at their company, who gave incorrect information when the consulate staff called. Never have I seen a denial of an immigrant visa was caused by a jealous colleague. I've met around 90 applicants in person and helped 69 applicants to overcome denials with success since 2003.
  20. 1. I don't believe your SO's colleagues can do anything harmful to her case. School teachers know almost nothing about the procedures of immigration. I had been a high school teacher for 8 years! 2.GUZ is busy with thousands of cases each month. Who cares small gossip in big China? 3.Your SO's needs birth certificate, police certificate (no criminal records)....for all those stuff, she has to deal with police office, notary public, but NOT the school where she is teaching. Relax, dude!
