  1. My wife's son (19 years old) was laid off from his job due to the economy last week after working there part time for the last 8 month. He has a 10 year green card, and I signed the I-864 for him during the visa process. Is he eligible for unemployment, and can they (The government) come after me due to signing the I-864?
  2. Charles, I had the same thing happen to me, my wife received the SS card a couple of weeks before her son. So, I think you have nothing to worry about. As far as work goes I think she can start working immediately.
  3. It's time for us to file the I -751 for my wife and step son, who just turned 18 a few month ago. Do we need to file for him separately, and do we need to pay for him separately. I would imagine that We'll have to pay for his biometrics regardless, but what about the $465.00 fee? If we do have to file for him separately, can we send both petitions in the same envelope with the same evidence, or does that have to be separate as well? I get conflicting answers at visa journey and not sure what to do.
  4. Bill, our divorces weren't "final" until the month before our 1st meeting and marriage. Having said that I did include detail dates in the letter on "evolution of relationship". Good Luck! Same here. I met my wife for the first time approximately 1 month after my divorce. Had no problem getting approved. Good luck!
  5. He's 17 going on 18 next month. They called me and the number showed on my phone. It was definitely the consulate The woman identified herself as a consulate employee and asked to speak to him directly. I asked her why, and she said they were doing a customer's service survey. Go figure..
  6. My wife just got home from school and asked him exactly what they asked. (Obviously they spoke in Chinese). he said they asked if he was 'satisfied' with their service. Yea right, the consulate is worried about losing customers The strange thing is that they are already here. However we are waiting to apply for the 10 year green card, so maybe they work in cooperation with the USCIS . Who knows?...
  7. Just got a call from the consulate in GUZ. They asked to speak with my step son. Why do you want to talk to him? GUZ: we are doing a 'customer's service survey... oooook They asked him how he's doing and if everything is ok. He said yes, and that was it. I think it was more like trying to see if he's with me and if we are fraud I can't believe the 'Customer service' bit

  12. I know of one state that you shouldn't get married in: CALIFORNIA Now seriously, I hope it all works out for you. Think positive man!
  13. My stepson received his P4 a week before the interview, and 2 days before going to GUZ. Talk about cutting it close! I did however email them several times, as well as faxed them letters rquesting the P4, which I think helped. I was told by DOS that changing the interview date is NOT a good idea.

  16. What baffles me is that in a recent poll, most USC's stated that their wife did not experience any culture shock in the US. I think this thread proves otherwise.I think our ladies hold it in a lot and that is the cause to this misconception. You bet they are going through a culture shock.
